Hvac Repair reviews in Northport

I don't normally write reviews, but I really feel compelled to do this.

The first day went great. That's why I didn't give them F's since one day was good. I called, and the receptionist was very nice, and the owner came out that day to look at it. He spent his time on it and really seemed to want to help. He was very nice. He got my heater working and told me what was wrong with the unit and that he couldn't guarantee me it would last. He said if it broke down within the week, to give him a call, and he wouldn't charge me a service fee (I'll be tempted to see if this is true once I get my bill. It was $70 for 1 service call, but I'm not sure how many they will charge me for if the owner doesn't stick to his word).

The heater quit working again halfway through the night and had new problems. I don't know if his work caused it or not. But, I called them, and the receptionist told me he'd be there after I got off work. He never showed up, and I never got a call saying he was running late or wouldn't show up. The phone went straight to voicemail (after I waited about 2 hours trying to be patient before calling because I knew they were busy), and I didn't hear back.

I called the next day, and the receptionist said she didn't know what happened and that she'd ask if he could make it that night. I never heard back until I called that afternoon, and she said she forgot to ask him. He did end up coming out that night and tried again to get it to work. Once he couldn't, he helped me start up my fireplace and gave me suggestions on how to heat the house for the time being. He then announced he would be back the next day to try one more time and to talk with me about long-term options because he didn't have any information with him (I thought he should have brought it this time since he had come out before and knew it needed parts or a new system.). I didn't really understand why they were coming out again, but since he said he was, I was happy that he was showing a real willingness to help...or so it seemed.

My friend (who is related to one of the employees) confirmed with his relative the next day that they were coming and what was going to be done. I then texted the relative later to see what time they would be there, and he gave me the approximate time. They never showed up. It was not until my friend called two hours after the estimated arrival time and asked if the owner had called me yet to tell me they weren't coming. He hadn't. I would never have known they weren't coming unless a non-employee had told me.

I then contacted his relative and asked what was going on and got a very rude response, implying that I was demanding and they had more important things to work on and coming out every night was ridiculous (If I had actually acted this way, the situation and my feelings towards them would have be one of understanding and not of frustration.). I realized the owner either didn't explain the situation or explained what happened inaccurately, which I cleared up with the employee, who apologized profusely and said the owner was blaming him for me thinking they were going to be coming out that night. I also told him I would be happy to tell the owner that it was the owner himself that I was relying on because he was the one that told me he was going to come and told me that without my asking him to come back. I am very disappointed in the owner's actions and irresponsibility.

The relative said that the owner was going to come the next day, which I told him to tell the owner not to come and that I was going with someone else because of the owner's actions, and lack thereof. It seems the owner is determined to come out and give me pricing on a new unit. We'll see if he shows, but I don't plan on using them, and I did cancel the appointment, but I guess he has a mind of his own.

The company has gotten good reviews on other social media sites, so maybe this was just my experience, but it was certainly a bad one.

Since nothing will ever be installed by this company, I can't comment on the quality of work they do, so I do not have an opinion or facts to divulge on this aspect of the business.

It worked out just fine. They brought the wrong furnace the first time but I happened to catch it before they got it out of the box. That may have been just a communication breakdown because the one that we wanted was an Energy Star and I just assumed they all were. When I saw the box, I asked where the Energy Star was on the box so I could deduct it from our taxes. We said that's not what we had and they brought us the one we wanted. We had a gas leak a couple of years later on the furnace and we called them. They came out and there was no charge. They came right away.

I think they are kind of pricey but they are an excellent company. They also fixed something and that was reasonable. As far as the replacement cost, they are about competitive. I just happen to find someone who had a more competitive price. They just wanted to sign me up for a maintenance program. There was a little bit of sales pitch there. I think they really know what they are doing. All the technicians are NATE certified. I think what needs to be fixed gets fixed correctly and it’s not haphazard on how they repair something. I will just call them for a repair again. I read that they are NATE certified and that is pretty important and a whole lot of AC techs are not. I think they are family business and they have been in business for a long time.

Called because they were given a good rating on Angie's list.  I understood it was the coldest day on record and that a lot of people were without heat and that I would need to wait for someone to arrive.  They told me that it would be around 1pm before someone could make it to the house.  3pm came and went so I called. The lady told me they were going as fast as they could and that a lot of people were without heat and I was no different.  I don't mind waiting but don't lead me on, I should have called someone else if they said they couldn't make it until the end of the day, we have a 9 month old at home with no heat!  I called someone else and they were out in an hour!

After bad luck with another Heating and Cooling company we called them. They said they wouldn't be able to get to use until the next morning and that coming after hours would cost $70 more anyway! So we agreed to wait until the next morning even though we have a 9 month old at home and were having to use space heaters to keep her room warm. They called back after 30 minutes and said the owner was coming right out! They didn't even charge the extra $70. They determined that we had a bad transformer and replaced it, blaming our digital NEST thermostat for the blown fuse. Once they fixed it they went outside and looked at the unit and realized there was a big leak that would cost about $700 to fix so they said that we should think about replacing the whole unit. We said we would consider it over the next few days but we needed something fixed immediately because this was the coldest day on record! They were able to get the emergency electric heat in the attic to work but insisted on giving us one of their thermostats from the truck because they felt that our NEST and old thermostat wouldn't keep the emergency heat on (not sure if I believed that) so they put one of theirs on. It cost us $126! I would have said no if I knew it was going to be that expensive for a simple thermostat, our NEST wasn't much more then that and it is the latest technology!

Anyway overall they did a good job, a bit pricey but they did come straight out and they seemed to be knowledgeable about the problem. I do think they were not as knowledgeable about thermostats as you would expect but the actual unit they diagnosed and fixed immediately.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. The price of the service wasn't unreasonable and the price of the unit was on par. The service was excellent. Both the technician and the sales guy were very nice, professional and easy to work with. I've had other A/C guys come out before and the guy from Freedom was by far the most knowledgeable and professional.

Furnished and installed a Trane Air Handler.  The office staff was very friendly and responsive,  The Installers were on time the day of the install.  They were professional and courteous, and worked non-stop until the job was completed.  A minor adjustment was made for air noise at a later date.  The office staff was forward thinking and sold me an air handler that would convert to the new coolant(my compressor is now using out dated R22 Freon) when the time comes to replace the my existing compressor.
I recommend this customer service friendly company.

Last week my air conditioner had a problem and I thought it was a perfect time to go on Angie's List. The company that I have used in the past was rated B but another company which one of my friends had recommended was also listed and it was rated with an A and it had all good reviews. I called them at 9:00 in the morning. They were extremely nice on the telephone. I asked if they could get somebody out here that day and she said absolutely, without a doubt. They had a repair man out here at 12:00 noon. He spent an hour and a half and fixed the problem. Everything went very, very smoothly. I paid $148 and I was pleased with that as well. I was impressed at how professional and prompt they were. I had lesser repairs that cost more money in the past with other people. Their service man called me and said he would be here in about 15 minutes and he was.

    Gregg Service Co
A/C unit stopped running during the night.  Called about 8:30 this am. Received a call back by 9:00 am.  Mr Gregg was here about 10:00 am.  Did his troubleshooting, replaced a part that had shorted, cleaned up the area, and was gone by 11:00.  Fast, friendly, and professional.  What more can be asked?  I haven't received  the bill yet but my history with Gregg Service Co goes back to 1981.  I have also been pleased with their charges as they are never unreasonable.
