    Banks Spiller Landscape and Bobcat
Banks Spiller was hired after I had met with and hired two other Concrete contractors to do the work and they never showed up.  Not only did he show up and start when he said he would, he did a fantastic job and had to work through some extremely wet weeks of work to complete the project.
He originally said the entire project should take 3 full days if the rain would hold off.  It ended up taking almost 3 weeks to complete due to it raining almost every day for 3 solid weeks.  He showed up almost every day, even on weekends to try and get done whatever he possibly could in spite of the bad weather and never once complained.  He called to touch base with me on a daily basis to let me know what had been done and where things stood.  He catered to every request I had and made a few project changes and never changed his original price he quoted me.  For example, he wasn't satisfied with the quality of soil in my front yard and was afraid the sod/bushes might not grow well in it so he brought in several loads of topsoil to ensure the grass and bushes would grow well.  He even reset my mailbox for me as a favor at the end of the project even though that was not part of the bid.  He was a pleasure to work with and took tremendous pride in doing an excellent job.  The end result was stunning and you could tell his years of experience really paid off in the finished work!  We've had a couple of hard rains and there's been no more water in the basement.  The french drain and excavation work he did worked perfectly.  The newly soded yard and circular driveway looks terrific and I've had several neighbors already compliment me on how great the driveway and yard look.
I would highly reccomend Banks to anyone needing excavaiton, concrete driveway/walkway or sod work!

    ANCLA Construction
There was a problem. It turned out that the owner was very badly hurt in a work-related accident. He easily could have died. I did not know it at that time. I was not able to get the work done because of the accident. Once I understood what he had been experiencing, it was fine, but when you do not know somebody and you cannot actually let them come do the work, your mind kind of wonder what is going on. Once he did come, he could not even do the work. He was badly hurt, but his worker was very good. He supervised everything. I was real happy not just with the work but with the people.

    Banks Home Building Inc
My experience was wonderful! All the workers were quiet, kind,  neat and polite. They arrived on time and left at the end of the day. Their workmanship was superb! When one job was complete the next group of guys were right there as planned. As I added more requests, the men were happy to oblige. Everything went smoothly!!

    Banks Home Building Inc
Banks Home Building renovated a crumbling 80+ year old historical house. Floors were falling through, plaster cracked, windows leaking, roof leaking, 80-year-old wire and knob electrical system; just to name a few challenges.  Their attention to detail for our 80+ year old house was amazing. All the moldings for the addition were hand crafted and matched the existing house down to every detail. It is very difficult to tell where the old house stops and the addition begins. The job superintendent has much experience with historical houses and was wonderful to work with. Nothing was ever a problem for Banks Home Building. If something came up on the job, it was solved immediately with no major discussion, issues, or price overages. Stuart Banks, the owner, is a very honest and ethical business man. We even lived in the existing house while the addition was being constructed.  The work was completed in the timeline estimated by the contractor.

I wouldn't recommend Bill's Concrete (Bill Guinn) to anyone. I feel he is extremely unprofessional, irresponsible and completely undependable. Here is why I feel this way:

I first called Bill's Concrete (Bill Guinn) about 18 months ago to give me an estimate on replacing an existing wood timber retaining wall with a concrete wall and to add some additional drainage to the yard. He came out and looked at the wall, yet didn't want to give an estimate until I had an engineering report/diagram from one of his friends he recommended. I called the engineer who came out and looked at the retaining wall and water run-off. After paying the engineer and getting a and quot;signedand quot; diagram, I called Bill to return for an estimate. He suggested we wait until the spring. In April of this year (2011), I called Bill to come do an estimate. He again came out, but said he didn't do retaining walls in the spring or summer and that if I could wait until late autumn or winter he would be able to do it at a lower price.

I decided to wait and call him again in November. In late October before I called Bill, I received a message from Jeanne in Bill's office. The message said that Bill could come give an estimate on the retaining wall and drainage, and that they would be able to give me a good price. I called Jeanne back to schedule a time for Bill to come out. Jeanne said his schedule was pretty much open for the entire next week (now this week). So I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday. Then on Tuesday shortly before the appointment, Jeanne called to say that Bill had already lined up 3 retaining wall projects and wouldn't be doing any more this year, therefore, he wouldn't be coming out to do an estimate.

I felt bad for Jeanne. You could tell that she was embarrassed and ashamed to have to make the phone call saying Bill wouldn't be coming out. You would think Bill would have been man enough to make that call himself, but I guess he would rather subject Jeanne to the embarrassment. (I believe Jeanne is his wife and I know I would never put my wife in that kind of uncomfortable position.)

Anyway, after paying one of Bill's friends for an engineering diagram I didn't/don't need and wasting 18 months with his unprofessional approach to his business, I will start looking for someone who is dependable and reliable.
