Kenneth E James Painting and Carpentry Services
It could not have been worse. Despite advertising, Mr. James generally showed up once in the morning and once in the evening. His crew were not all proficient at what was required of them. Inside of cabinets not painted, floors are falling in for the second time. Low grade material and expensive gas window was "placed" in wall with sledge hammer when it wouldn't fit. It cracked later that day and excuses changed multiple times before James said "we cracked it." Nothing was returned to original place as we were assured, and as my wife and Io are both disabled much of the mess remains. Unneccesary work on a French Drain blew the budget by three grand, and Mr. James became irate when we utilized a five percent discount coupon claiming he didn't have any coupons on his website and accused us of shorting him 5%. He did show up briefly in the morning and afternoon but matierials used were billed as new and ultimately were found to be used. (toilet) We took a second mortgage on the house to finance the renovation and the house is worse now than when they first came here. He refuses to fix the flooring which is sagging and causing us to slip and fall at times. The last words to my wife as he left were to my wife and were f**k you! I would have confronted him but he smelled as if he had been drinking and thought the better of it. He reeked of alcohol according to my wife and I. I thought we had found the perfect contractor but apparently his company cares more about beer than doing a good job. I have additional work he didn't accomplish and I was on the road buying material and tools every day without fail. I am just sick of it,, and just wholly and completely beg anyone considering home renovation to find a real professional. He talked a good game, not so good on the follow through. Beware!

Overhead Door and Fireplace Company Inc
My garage door opener was not working, and I found this business, Overhead Door, here on Angieslist.
I then contacted the business owner (Kayla) via message, and she got back to me right away. I explained the situation to her, and was provided with an estimate over the phone. The price was reasonable so I scheduled the service for a few days later.
The technician, Sean, arrived right on time. He quickly determined that a new garage door opener was not required, but merely a new capacitor. After replacing that, he made several adjustments to the door and sensors. He also explained what he was doing during each step of the procedure.
Thanks to his honesty, the bill was a few $100 dollars less than I was expecting. And the garage door opener is working as new.
I can easily recommend this company to other individuals needing help with their garage door openers.

I could not possibly be more pleased. This is the ONLY time I've ever hired a contractor and had absolutely NO complaint. I really wish I had taken some before photos to share.

    David's Lock & Key
David and his son-in-law spend three hours fixing our lock. We were very pleased with his work. The next day it started sticking again. He came back the next day. He fixed the screw that had become loose and put lock tite on it so it won't slip again. He was very professional and friendly. He was eager to make sure the job was done right. At first I was worried when it started sticking again the next day. A less honest man might have tried to charge another fee, but David stood by his work. If we ever need a locksmith again, this is who we will call.

    T & A Handyman Services
Called this contractor to set up an appointment for the next day between 10 -11AM and he never shown up or even called to say he was not coming or could not make it. I wait all day and nothing. I would not recommend.Have called another contractor who should be here tomorrow.

    Guyette Roofing & Construction
I was so happy with the work done last week, by Guyettes contracting. I canceled work to be done by another contractor. And had Bill Guyette finish the job. I would highly recommend this contractor!!!

    David's Lock & Key
I spoke with David prior to closing to get an idea for prices because I didn't know what was reasonable or expected. He was extremely honest and forthcoming with information about his services and his prices. He gave us his rates for re-keying per keyhole and what his rates are for additional labor, but was hesitant to give an estimate for the overall job prior to the appointment, which though inconvenient is, to me, a sign of a true professional (not wanting to give an estimate and be wrong).
He was able to meet us at the property within 30 minutes of closing and had 4 locks (7 total keyholes) done within 2 hours. He never left the property to do any work and was incredibly thorough (even more so than we thought was needed). He was knowledgeable and it was obvious our business was important to him as much as his quality of work.
My ONLY stipulation is not to expect him in uniform, that's not his particular style, but otherwise he did a FANTASTIC job and we will be using him from now on. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

    T & A Handyman Services
Thomas was very professional, very knowledgable and all-around very good at what he does. I could just tell him what I was looking for in general and he rattled off all kinds of information about what my options were.
I haven't used him for anything but carpentry work, so I can only tell you without doubt that he is very good in that category. I recently called him back to install a new front door to our house. I trust him, and he is very reasonable in his pricing.

    David's Lock & Key
I used the contact information on Angie's list to schedule an appointment.  We scheduled a date for him to come out to rekey seven exterior door locks.  He also realigned two dead-bolts to assure they were functioning properly.  The work was done quickly and efficiently.  When cleaning up, he went beyond my expectations to remove all traces of his work.  I would highly recommend he.

When I first called Tommy he told me that I had called the right guy, and he was right. He came by to see the work, went and found some prices for us for a new door, and called to give a full estimate including the door. We had a last minute change in plans but Tommy just rolled with it. We bought our own door at Home Depot which Tommy picked up and brought to the job site on day one. Knowing they would not finish the work in one day he strategically left most of the wall in order to leave the house secure over night, then returned and completed the job the next day. The section of the house where the work was done was built in the 70's and while there were complications Tommy and his crew were more than up for the task.

Upon completion Tommy pointed out that there was quite a big step down from the house to the patio area and offered to build us a step that would nicely add to the look of the new door. This was great, but the new step required modifications to our gutter system as it would go across one of the drains. Tommy fixed that as well, with no change to the agreed upon price.

We love our new patio door, and already have Tommy scheduled for more work around the house.
