    Awful experience!  The eye exam and doctor were fine, but the office staff and customer service leave much to be desired.  We ordered contact lenses, which still have not been delivered almost 6 weeks later.  My wife stopped in after a month to check on the status of the order (because there had been no communication from them) and was told that the contacts had not arrived, with no explanation of what the probIem was.  A week later, fed up, she requested a refund in person and was told they had to contact the Athens office, but she would be called.  Another week has passed, and despite another phone call, we have yet to receive a phone call in return, an apology, an explanation or a refund.  We cannot NOT recommend this office strongly enough.  Terrible.

    I have been a patient of Dr. Derivaux for over 20 years, I was first referred to him by Lenscrafters (at the time it was OptiWorld) because I registered high pressure in my eyes.  Since i was in my 20s at the time, that was an alarm signal!  He was able to diagnose the cause for my high pressure and correct the issue with laser iridotomy of both eyes.  I was very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Derivaux, because relatively few eye surgeons at the time were using the iridotomy to correct my early pigmentary dispersion syndrome (which was causing the high pressure).  The procedure worked perfectly and my pressure remains in normal range without my having ever had to take pressure reducing drops.  I have been a patient of Dr. Derivaux ever since.
    This most recent visit was a routine eye exam, I go at least once a years, sometimes at six month intervals depending on findings.  I think I did a visual field test this time, and i know i was dilated.  The office staff and the technicians are friendly and knowledgable.  The waiting room is large and pleasant with fish tank, bathrooms, and even a small windowed room for smaller children to play while they (or their parent) wait.  The wait times can be long (they recommend you set aside 3 hours), either in the outer waiting room, or inside waiting areas, but you have to realize a lot of that is because you may be using several different testing areas, and some of the time is waiting for drops in your eyes to take effect.
    Dr. Derivaux was pleasant and efficient as always, and took the time to re-conduct some of the tests personally to verify the results, in addition to the tests that he always performs himself.  I would recommend him to anyone who needs an opthalmologist!

    My experience always goes wonderful with him. The staffs are great too. We go there even though they do not accept our insurance. We just file it separately. We go because they are so wonderful. I never had any issues with their billing and administration. I pay for it when I go. I never really had to deal with them about that.

    the Doctor does wonderful work. He gave me new insight on things I wasn't aware of, entertained all questions and I was very confidant in his level of expertise.  You can tell someone is good at their trade when they take the time to educate you while in their care. I was very impressed. His wife manages the office with him, she is an extremely competent and pleasant lady. They are a nice team.

    We were seen on-time and when my son was a little apprehensive about getting his eyes dilated. The Dr. took the time to talk to him about it. In the end, he refused, but she was very kind and understanding. We were able to pick out new glasses and received them in a timely manner.

    His office staff is very professional, he is very professional. His billing prices are fair for what he offers. He has a very good work environment. He gives a very thorough eye exam and he will refer on to a specialist if needed.

    He liked him a lot.  He diagnosed the major problem so my husband ended up having a tumor so he was having trouble of his vision and it turned out to be a pituitary tumor and he had a surgery done at Vanderbilt Hospital so it?s a big deal but he said the doctor didn?t just blow him off and say you may go or something.  He got him to go see an ophthalmologist and the ophthalmologist got him to go get an MRI and that's how he found out he has a tumor.  He is doing really well now.  I mean it was like not maybe every eye doctor does that I don?t know but he was very happy that he caught it the problem.  My husband last saw him in January.  He is going to go back to him again I think because his eyesight totally change for the better since he was there and detect the tumor ? save his vision too.

    Between my husband, my daughter and I we do see them all (Dr. Jennifer Newby, OD and Dr. Michele and David Parker, OD) once in a year. Our last appointment it has to last year because my daughter and I both have appointment coming up in April so April of last year. I think my husband is either coming up or he just had one eye exam. They are awesome. Like I said my youngest daughter has special needs and they are not pediatric eye care but they are awesome with her which is a very big deal when you are out of town bringing no eye drops. The office is clean and neatly decorated and updated. The staffs are very friendly. You go back very quickly. Everything is right there. It is a welcoming environment. You are comfortable for the few minutes you do have to wait. Their billing is fine but their price to me is a little high for glasses and ndash; to sum it up they could breakup price but the billing per se never had a problem with that part of it and we actually purchased some glasses.

    The office staff were very disrespectful of my time and inefficient. I spent more than 20 minutes in the waiting room after my appointment time before being next in line. Then, when the woman who apparently was the staff lead was escorting a patient out the door, she stood there for nearly five minutes with the patient talking about college football! Once I was in the treatment area I calculated that of the roughly 90 minutes I was in the area that less than 15 minutes was spent with either staff or the doctor. No refraction check was made prior to dilation of my eyes and I was asked only to read a projected eye chart. I was taken to a darkened room to wait for the dilation eye drops to work fully. That should have taken 12-15 minutes, but 35 minutes passed before I was taken back to the exam room. Then, on the follow-up appointment to try a contact lens fitting, the lead technician argued with me about my vision not needing correction and claiming that she had done a refraction check. The last staff member, who apparently was the newest, was very friendly and understanding as she tried to teach me how to use contact lenses. I finally decided it was a lost cause and left. When I complained on the way out to the front office mananger she tried to find a resolution and a few days later I received a check in the mail refunding my co-pay.
    Dr. McCoy needs to make significant staff changes and improve the efficiency of her office operations to quit wasting so much of her patients' time.
    I will not be back and do not recommend this medical practice.

    Dr. Walters has been my optometrist for many years. He and his staff are very professional and helpful. I have gone to his office many time just to have my glasses adjusted and it was always a pleasant experience. I am due for an eye exam now and it will be with Dr. Walters.
