    Joey Arnold Construction, LLC
I had used Joey Arnold Construction for a couple of projects in the past (shelving, storm doors), and hired him again for this job. As always, he was professional and kept me informed through the process; doing quality work at a reasonable price. And he always leaves the worksite net and tidy. I highly recommend Joey; you won't be disappointed!

    Mr. Handyman of Huntsville
The work was good, but it was very, very expensive. They didn't replace the whole threshold. I had bought a new threshold and they took it apart and replaced the top part of the threshold. I didn't think that was very professional. They took a brand new threshold and took it apart and put the top part in and didn't put in the whole threshold. When I saw how much it was and I saw what they did I thought that was outrageous. It was the only way he knew how to do it.

The main thing is I will not hire again. Work not up to par and I talked it over with the owner/manager and it made him upset. There was only one worker and the manager at the time. I could not locate the date but it was a few years back. Maybe more than 3-4 years.

    Pro Building LLC
Sam Howard and his crew at Pro Building Solutions remodeled our whole house for us. We had a projected time frame of 3 weeks (for only the bathroom remodel), added in a lot of custom details in the middle of the job, including taking out a wall, doing a custom bead board wainscoting in the bathroom, changing out all of the outlets/switches in the entire house, and replacing all of the interior doors/hardware and somehow still ended up with only 3 weeks and 3 days in total for our job! We were more than satisfied with
their performance! Every time we added something to the job, he would give us an estimation of how much time we were adding to the total of the job. In the end, they far exceeded our time frame in which we were expecting.  There were quite a few different guys coming in and out of the house, but all of them were courteous, professional, and took the time to listen to our needs.

Sam helped greatly with the design side. From start to finish he really made it an easy process in choosing which products to use
based on our budget that we had presented him from the beginning of the job. We selected a few upgrades that put us over our budget, after all, you're only going to remodel once! However, we were able to save on some other materials that Sam had recommended during the process with his contractor prices. He also handled all of the delivery of our materials and never once charged us for the many hours of consultations he provided throughout the construction process.

I absolutely hate the construction process (tearing my house apart) but all in all, Pro Building Solutions helped to make my project as easy and pain free as possible. They kept the job site clean every day, made sure I could park my car in the garage, and were always there to help me, even if it was to carry a few bags of groceries into my house on their lunch break.

Overall, I would highly recommend Sam and Pro Building Solutions to anyone looking for a quality remodel and an affordable price! They went the extra mile for me and always communicated every step of the way. Any issues were addressed swiftly and as cost effectively as possible. Pro Building Solutions is the only company I will let work on my house!

David Gilliam (Trim & Small Home Repairs)
I contacted David via Angie's List on Saturday after I encountered a rotted-through door frame.  He came over on Sunday to discuss the work I needed to have done.  After we'd agreed on scope, he bought the wood he needed and primed it on Sunday, so it was ready to install and paint (with my paint) on Monday.  Grand total of 4 hours labor and $20 in materials.  I was very pleased with his ability to do a relatively small job on short notice -- a job that exceeded my skills and toolkit.

    Precision Enterprise
Terry arrived on time and was very easy to talk to.  I let him know that I actually wanted him to inspect all the window frames and door frames and then advise me on whether repair or replacement would be better in each case.
He checked out every door and window frame for damage, and showed me how he could tell that a small area of water staining that I feared was wood rot was actually in good condition.  The caulking had cracked along the bottom of the patio door frames (door sills) so he added clear silicone caulk where needed.
The good news was that all of the door frames themselves were fine.  Terry advised me that the door that I was certain needed replacing will be far less costly than the work needed to remove/replace the entire frame+door.
The bad news: he confirmed our suspicion that the old wood windows do need to go.  Terry didn't try to sell me windows; he simply said that yes, his company does window replacements.  They do lots of other types of work too, and so he wound up "selling" me on the company by NOT SELLING, just looking around at every other project I've been considering.  He mentioned that bathroom remodels were a specialty of one of the company owners.  So for me, that project just moved way up the list.
Then he fixed two nuisance items: replaced our front storm door handle, and tightened bolts on our fence gate.  Terry's a great ambassador for his company because he's not pushy, and comes across as honest.  Plus, he's a dog person, so major points for that.  :-)

    Complete Restoration Services Inc
Our experience with Complete Restoration was very positive.  We had an aquarium leak in a second floor bedroom.  The water leaked into the wall, garage, and the ceiling in the front entry of the home.  They came out an were able to send me an estimate for the work the same day.  The work took around 4 days.  Every person who was sent out to do work was punctual, courteous, respectful, and professional.  The base boards look better than they did before the damage occurred.  We would use Complete Restoration again if we needed work in the future.

An old water leak that went undetected for years had rotted out the floor and damaged the drywall in one corner of my living room. I saw Jim's high rating on Angie's list and made an appointment for an estimate the next day. He arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and explained everything the job would require. He gave me a ballpark estimate because it was impossible to see how extensive the damage was until the rotten plywood and a bit of drywall had been removed. I hired him and he returned two days later with two helpers, again on time. He and his crew cut out all the rotten wood and discovered that the damage had spread into the master bedroom closet. I asked them to also repair that area. They hadn't allotted enough time for that extra bit so they completed the work on the living room floor and returned the following day to repair the damage in the closet and the drywall in the living room. After all was said and done, they had removed rotten floor from two spots in my house, added supports to damaged floor joists and wall studs, re-floored those spots with new plywood, repaired the damaged drywall in the corner, and installed new baseboard on one wall of the living room and around the corner to the fireplace. Everything was sanded and caulked where required. In the closet, it was hardly noticeable that anything had been done. They cleaned up after themselves when they were finished. Jim and his crew were not only competent and efficient, they were puntual, friendly and polite as well. I will definitely hire Jim again.

    Angie's list is great !

My friend lives in Chicago, owns a house in Madison AL, when Orkin told her she had termite damage, she called me and wanted to know how I would handle getting the work done.  I have rental properties and live in Greensboro, NC.  I told her not to worry, I'd handle it for her.  I contracted Angie's list, read all the reviews about contractors in that area, I paid like less than $4.00 to get the Madison AL area added to my Angie account.

Jim had the highest rating and now I know why.  What a pleasant experience !  He communicates well and explained everything that he would do to get the job done.  He gave me an estimate and the actual bill was less  (always nice).   After very timely getting the first job done, Orkin finds most damage and Jim went back out and took care of that too.  First job was around  $525 and second he went out was $125.

My friend is very pleased to have the work done.  I just wish Jim lived in Greensboro, NC  :)

I needed someone to replace door trim on 4 doors in our house thanks to your dog chewing on them.  I called Jim based on recommendaitons on this list.  He called the next day and scheduled an appointment to come and look at the job.  He arrived on time and took a sample of the molding.  The molding was not standard contractor molding.  He said he would need to visit molding shops with the sample to locate the correct pieces.  He found it 25 miles away in Athens.  Called and told me he found the material and setup an appointment to install.  Arrived on time and did a professional job installing and patching the door facing.  I would highly recommend Jim.
