FWinner Team Construction, INC.This was the worst experience we've ever encountered. Mr Jerry Adjar is in no way a home builder. There is no Winner Team, only Mr Adjar. Two men could be hired if they weren't busy elsewhere. Changes were made to the plan without consulting us and some caused problems and had to be removed. Hot water heater was installed in the master bedroom closet before we had him put it in the garage as was designated on the plan. That space is now lost in the garage but the closet is far larger than we need. Concrete slab was not level and toilets had to be removed several times to grind down the floor so they would sit level. Laminate flooring had gaps between tiles. Attic insulation had to be done 3 times and we will still need to add more. Plumbing leaks ruined flooring and a cabinet. Mr Adjar will not give you invoices or provide a list of contractors. After everything was installed, cabinets, trim, tubs, showers, lighting, flooring, etc. Mr Ajdar decided to paint - with a SPRAYER! We had to hire a contractor to repair all walls and ceilings and repaint everything. The home was to be finished in 6 months, so stated in the contract. It has taken 13 months, and we had to have our own contractors come in and repair the builder's work. There will be no concrete driveway, nor an acceptable entry to the home or garage because Mr Adjar has run out of money and we have run out of patience. The appraised value of the home is well below what it cost us to build. Stay far away from Winner Team Construction.- CAROL S.

AMcMunn Construction LLCThe commode valve in the master bathroom failed while we were out of town, so full water pressure was "watering" the house for two days or so. After another service came initially to dry things out but ultimately pulled up most of the subfloor to the floor joints, McMunn Construction came in for the restoration work. It was more restoration than remodeling, although we did upgrade here and there in the process (flooring throughout, master bathroom vanity and counter top, master bathroom shower, and replaced 15 year-old water heater). Roger and his crew were always a pleasure to work with; quite accommodating, very polite, and responsive to phone calls or emails. There was always someone working when someone was scheduled to work. When it came to sheetrock work, they didn't hesitate to do a little extra repair in other locations when asked. In the utility room, there was one wall that had growth records for our three children which they cut out for us (so that we could otherwise preserve it when the room was repainted) and replaced at no extra charge. I appreciate very much the solution to provide additional wall support that was needed due to the subfloor replacement. Repair took several weeks longer than the anticipated three weeks or so, but it was not the fault of McMunn Construction. While some of the delay is attributable to two of McMunn's subcontractors (both involved in supplying and installing the upgraded shower), most of the delay was due to 1) our tying together the new shower wall with a new vanity countertop, and 2) multiple problems with getting a new vanity in a timely manner, which was our responsibility. Price was quite reasonable. Although we did spend more than what insurance covered, the extra is attributable to the upgraded flooring, upgraded shower and vanity and its countertop, and replacing the water heater. For me to award an "A" in quality, practically every detail including finish work, would have to be perfect, and that would be hard to find in most contractors. So, there were a few things, particularly in finishing work, that were not "perfect," but nothing to "get all tore up about." We replaced much of the flooring with ceramic tile, and McMunn's "tile guy, " Tony, did an excellent job. So, I came close to awarding an "A" for quality for McMunn overall, but it's certainly a strong "B." Again, Roger and his crew were very responsive. If a problem was evident (e.g., omitting a place in the utility room floor for heating/AC vent and for the dryer vent even after the ceramic tile was in), they responded very well to rectify that. Not that this was a problem at all with McMunn Construction, just keep in mind when using any contractor, to have the work that's needed to be done clearly defined including details that you might tend to assume will be provided.- Larry K.

AMcMunn Construction LLCMy husband and I were absolutely satisfied with all work performed. Had it not been for my husband having had major complications from a recent back surgery we would have done this work ourselves since my husband is a perfectionist. Mr McMunn always showed up when he said he would which really goes a long way to build a good relationship with a customer. All work was done professionally and in a timely manner. He went to great trouble to blend the texture on the ceiling and did a fantastic job. My picky husband was pleased but I think I was more so since I didn't have to be the helper on this job. ANorth Alabama BuildersBrent, Ben, and Joe all did a great job in removing our old windows and installing our new windows. They were very professional and considerate. They did a good job of communicating with us as to when they would be there and as to how they would perform the work. Ben did an excellent job of making sure that we were happy with how the windows were installed, how the trim (brake-work) looked, and answering all of our questions. They worked a partial day on 5/25 (set-up day and installed three windows). They installed most other windows and began installing metal trim on 5/26. On 5/27, they installed the last window and finished metal trim installation. These guys do all types of construction and remodeling work. I will definitely consider using them for any future work, and would highly recommend them to others.- Chad C.

AWelcome Home Construction, LLCWelcome Home Construction repaired a large deck and installed new tongue and groove boards in the ceiling of an existing porch. They were able to devise a solution to repair an existing support for the deck, and did a very good job of replacing all decking. They did an excellent job of fitting and trimming the new ceiling boards for the porch, enhancing the appearance of the area. All workmen were courteous and professional and kept the area clean at the end of each day. Mr. Joyner maintained frequent oversight of the work, and was always available to answer questions. AHelton Inc. Custom Home BuilderAs someone who grew up around construction, I knew that the only way we would get the kind of quality we wanted in a home was to build one ourselves. After interviewing multiple contractors, Mr Tim Helton was the obvious choice. From our first meeting, he exceeded all of my expectations. He was happy to join us on meetings with the drafters as well as to evaluate any land purchases we considered and give us his professional opinion. His extensive experience was an invaluable asset throughout the buying, designing, construction loan, and building process. I personally visited the building site almost daily and he was always quick to answer any questions I had. We incorporated some design changes during the build which were handled quickly and exactly as requested. There were never any unexpected charges or fees as he always made sure we understood all of our options before decisions were made. Mr Helton excels at communication. He is always thorough and always makes himself available. We had many late meetings to accommodate our work schedules. I was also amazed at the relationship he has with his teams and suppliers. Mr Helton demands the best from the people working for him and they respect him for it. Any time we had a problem, we could talk to him and he’d handle it. When Mr Helton says he will take care of something, you can rest assured, it is going to be handled. He was always there to give his professional advice, time, and help. He even went above and beyond to help us with third parties we worked with. Even going so far as to redo part of our encapsulated crawlspace when we had trouble with our termite bond a year after moving in. Mr Helton is a special breed of person. He is trustworthy, honest, great at communication and takes extreme pride is his work. We have now lived in our magnificent home for over a year. He has gone above and beyond to ensure that we are thrilled with our home and that everything from beginning to end has gone smoothly. He is the only builder I know that returns after one year, not only to honor warranty, but to fix any and every minor imperfection or nail pop that resulted from the new home settling and drying out. We have received endless compliments on everything from the beauty and craftsmanship of the house to how perfectly smooth the drywall and trim are. If you are looking closely, you can find details that I would have never even considered. Every inch, finish, and detail is treated with the utmost care. I’ve been beyond proud to show off my home and would (and have) recommend Helton Inc to anyone. We plan to build a guest house on our property in a few years and I won’t consider anyone else for the job. We have been blessed to have found the best builder in the business.- Karen C.

FI found McMunn on Angie's List. I called and Roger and Josh came to our house and we discussed a bathroom remodel and replacing the roof. Their bathroom estimate was the lowest and felt confident for them to do the work. The bathroom cost a little over $10,000 and the roof a little over $10,000. There were some delays for the roof because of weather. The bathroom remodel took longer than estimated. There was a problem with the toilet leaking a few months after the work. I called Josh and he had the plumbers come over and fix the problem. They left the toilet without caulking and placed these little pieces to level the toilet. It looked terrible. A while later I noticed another small leak. I called Josh before the holidays and he explained that they were very busy and I agreed to wait until after the holidays to have the plumbers look at the toilet. No phone call after January. Josh's mailbox was full, Roger's mailbox was full. I emailed. Roger said that "they are changing phone services" and will have Josh call. Josh promised that he would call the next Monday. February 11, still no phone call. Josh's mailbox is full. I called Roger and he answered his phone and again said that "they are changing phone services" and he would have Josh call. Today, February 17, still no phone call. Thank you Roger and Josh for taking over $20,000 from retirees and not honoring your guaranty. We will look for another plumber and contractor for the additional work that needs to be done.

AAlthough I did not purchase the Duralook material for my patio, I might for my pool area later. I was impressed with their professionalism, they were on time for three meetings and had a state of the art mobile computer system to show work for the bid. As a female client, I was treated very respectfully and and business like. I recommend them for anyone who needs their type service and special type materials. As far as some of the negative reviews below, the Company had a former employee who no longer works for them, that could have contributed to past issues. I recommend giving them a chance to give an Estimate for the work you need.

AThe replaced my old heat pump, put in a new pad, repaired some insulation around the ductwork around the house, and even put mulch around the new pad. All for the original estimate give, all included. (I had another company come by and give me an estimate and they quoted $11,000 to $12,000, saying I needed new ductwork, which I didnt.). I recommend Bobby Terry Co.
