Clothing Alteration reviews in Huntsville

  • I was very worried b/c I have a Hindu wedding dress and wasn't sure if he could alter it! BUT GUESS WHAT, he did it absolutely perfect and did not have to make any adjustments. Hindu wedding dresses are very complicated and have delicate jewels. He did such a great job that nothing was ruined on my dress. My skirt and blouse were loose to due last minute weight loss, and I made a call last minute and Derrick was there by my side working on my dress the day before and made me very happy with the results:) He is a very dedicated and involved tailor that will not only get to know what you want, but he will take the time to get to know his clients.  My dress pants were a little long, so he shortened them to the perfect length and they are in perfect condition. Once again, I will be using Derrick again in the future for all my alterations!

  • We have done clothing alterations and the company name is Lee's Tailors. The tuxedo was a rental so he picked it up on Friday as it was my son's prom. The service with that was very good. That is a great built store there. They do good work and the prices aren't too out of line. The staff, I think they are all Asian and they work really hard. I mostly deal with Mr. Lee and he has been a tailor for years and it is like having your own personal tailor. He is great. They are pretty knowledgeable. They do good work. On alterations, they do a very good job and they charge reasonable prices. The last pair of pants I had them do were like 8 dollars and that's not bad at all. I think it was done within a week and so quick turn around and that is kind of just the standard turn around. They were pretty good there with the professionalism.

  • The business has been sold to an employee, Angela.  I was told that should would need "a couple of extra days" because of an equipment failure.  I visited a week later and was told that her machinery was scheduled to repaired and to give her a couple more days.

It has been almost a month since then.  She has not returned any of multiple (I think 4) phone calls and has not been present during her posted business hours.

I have not made payment since the work is unfinished and the owner has not responded to my contact attempts, but the articles of clothing are worth several times the alteration costs.

  • LOTS of yarn--most of it high quality but there is also junk--its sometimes hard to filter through.  Staff was pleasant but not particularly involved--pretty much left alone--no inquiries about what I was shopping for.  I know the owner, who is never present during shop hours.  She is a piece of work.  Count yourself blessed not to have an encounter with her.
Update:  The owner is trying to sell the shop.  If no one buys it, it will close after Xmas 2014.

  • The process went very smoothly. I called to check her hours and to get an estimate on the amount of time it was likely to take. Then I took my son and his pants in to her shop so she could pin them. She gave me a reasonable quote on the cost for the alterations and the time. She finished early and charged what she quoted. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about altering uniforms.

  • I had found this business on Angie's List and decided to try it as it is closer to my home than where I had gone previously. The owner, Peggy, has been doing this for over 30 years and it shows by the quality of her work. I actually got the coat back earlier than promised and it was a very professional job. I would highly recommend this alterations business. I got great quality work for a fair price.

  • I had two suits tailored and a pair of pants hemmed at Cati's. The suits were a size too big, so there was major alterations involved with the suits (sleeves shortened, waist taken in on both the jacket and the pants, seat taken in on the pants, etc). The job was done well, but it did take over a week (a week and three days, I believe) before the suits and pants were ready for pickup. It cost $120 for everything. The location was great (being located next door to Burlington coat factory), but the lady told me the location was moving near Sams Club in July, 2013. A downside to this place is that she only accepted cash or checks (no credit/debit cards). She also didn't give me a ticket or any kind of paper indicating receipt for the clothes. She just wrote my name down when I dropped off the clothing, and I told her my name when I picked it up. It felt kind of disconcerting not having a ticket/receipt. And like most tailors in Huntsville, the Asian accent can be hard to understand. Overall, I liked the service though.

  • The last time I went, I needed a hem let out of my silk curtains. I was very worried about potential damage to them in doing this. However, the job was so wonderful, you cannot even tell the hem was altered AT ALL! This is a great place to have anything you need altered done. I trust them very much. They will let you know if it can't be done, but I haven't had them say no to any project yet. Best choice for alterations.

  • I have had two items repaired by Soon. A suit coat which I wear at weddings and funerals had the center back seam out. The lining had to be opened and the seam stitched. Total cost. $5.00. A pair of pants with the hem out. I kept catching my tow in it when I tried to put them on. Soon stitched it while I waited. Total cost $2.00

  • I have used Fongs for alterations in the past. They "updated" my wardrobe with changing pants into capris or shorts and I have used them for pant hems. This visit, Fongs altered a formal dress. Even though I've had good experiences with them, I was still concerned about the timing if it wasn't altered "right" I wouldn't have time to redo it before my event. However, not only were there no problems, because it was pinned properly when I dropped it off, but she even suggested a better way to do the bust so that dress looked (and fit) more natural and promised it back to me in plenty of time! They did a great job! The price was $15 for each alteration to the dress, one for the altered bust and one for resewing the straps to fit me.
