    The Eye Center
I have been a patient of Dr. Derivaux for over 20 years, I was first referred to him by Lenscrafters (at the time it was OptiWorld) because I registered high pressure in my eyes.  Since i was in my 20s at the time, that was an alarm signal!  He was able to diagnose the cause for my high pressure and correct the issue with laser iridotomy of both eyes.  I was very fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Derivaux, because relatively few eye surgeons at the time were using the iridotomy to correct my early pigmentary dispersion syndrome (which was causing the high pressure).  The procedure worked perfectly and my pressure remains in normal range without my having ever had to take pressure reducing drops.  I have been a patient of Dr. Derivaux ever since. This most recent visit was a routine eye exam, I go at least once a years, sometimes at six month intervals depending on findings.  I think I did a visual field test this time, and i know i was dilated.  The office staff and the technicians are friendly and knowledgable.  The waiting room is large and pleasant with fish tank, bathrooms, and even a small windowed room for smaller children to play while they (or their parent) wait.  The wait times can be long (they recommend you set aside 3 hours), either in the outer waiting room, or inside waiting areas, but you have to realize a lot of that is because you may be using several different testing areas, and some of the time is waiting for drops in your eyes to take effect. Dr. Derivaux was pleasant and efficient as always, and took the time to re-conduct some of the tests personally to verify the results, in addition to the tests that he always performs himself.  I would recommend him to anyone who needs an opthalmologist!

    Ferrell, Dr. James
Overall it went great. There were a couple of issues initially with the contact lenses. A less experienced person gave me the wrong Rx for the contact lenses, but once I tried them and came back a more experienced person handled everything with no problems what so ever. They will continue to work with you during the fitting process (get trial lenses, try them for a week, let them know if any problems, and order if a good fit for you; if not they restart the process with another brand of lenses or Rx). Thankfully I have vision insurance because my Rx is pretty strong in one eye. The exams are reasonable, but the glasses can be a bit pricey if you do not have insurance. Contact lens prices run what you would expect at other places. He has been my eye doctor for approximately 5 years.

    The Eye Center
After checking in there is a short wait and then an assistant take each patient through a series of eye tests and exams. Then Dr. Nicastro comes in and does the final testing of eye sight. If there is a need for a change he will provide the information about the change and helps decide what is best for the patient. If there are sample contacts available he will give them to you to try before purchasing the contacts.

It was excellent.  He had very good success.  I also got new glasses and had an eye exam.  My glasses are great. I highly recommend them to anyone.

    The Eye Center
Excellent medical care.  My physician trained with my previous eye doctor, so it was a very familiar type treatment.  Advantage is that the Eye Center is in Huntsville, close to home.  Very satisfied.

    Ferrell, Dr. James
The eye doctor is from Bailey Cove Eye Care and it is Dr. James Ferrell. I am up on my annual soon. We got to do it once a year no matter what. The staff with Dr. Ferrell is excellent. The doctor himself is really super. I really like him. He is very professional, very friendly and very caring. He is top notch. My wife and my son goes to Dr. Ferrell too. I have used him since I used Indian Prince's camp house before I ever switched to using him. I haven't had any problems with the billing and administration.

Staff was extremely friendly. Dr. Cox was attentive and knowledgeable. At one time I had an emergency and was able to get an appointment almost immediately that day. I highly recommend this office.

    Winton, Dr. Kenneth R.
Dr. Winton has been my eye doctor for several years. His staff is always pleasant and they take extra care with you. They always seem happy. As for Dr. Winton's care, he is very detailed. I tried contact lenses over a long period of time and I could never find any that worked for me as I had extreme astigmatism. Dr. Winton tried contact after contact with me and he never got discouraged or gave up on me. I felt awful for taking up so much of his office time but he felt we could keep looking until we got it right, which impressed me very much. The contacts did not work out and he suggested Lasik surgery and referred me to a doctor in Birmingham. She was excellent and performed the surgery and I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes with no glasses or contacts. I am thrilled. I believe Dr. Winton is an excellent eye doctor as he could have kept me in glasses instead of sending me to another doctor. Now that I don't wear glasses anymore he does not see me as often, which actually cut into his income. So I feel like he as integrity.I highly recommend him.

    Sullins, Dr. William H.
The appointment went very well, as usual. I have been going to Dr. Sullins for years and intend to keep doing so. When other doctors told me I would never be able to wear contacts, he disagreed and I have worn them for years now. Their exams are always thorough, the staff knowledgeable and friendly, and Dr Sullins is excellent.

    Moultrie, Dr. Kenneth
The first one I had done, that was another thing that I was so pleased with because they put you through about an hour of pretty extensive medical examination for your eyes and then they made an appointment for me to see the surgeon and Dr. Moultrie's office, I'm so impressed, they text you 2 days before your appointment and then the day of your appointment, they text you about 2 hours and I love that because 2 days before I kind of got it in my head that I had to remember to do that and if you had forgotten, they still notify you, anybody can be dressed and down there in 2 hours if it did slip your mind but I'm so impressed with that technology and so then I went to Dr. Mitchell for the surgery and he did surgery one morning and re-text you that afternoon and then the next morning I go and see my eye doctor and he checks to make sure everything's all right and I go back to see him again a week after and then I'll see him again 2 weeks after just to make sure everything heal just fine. The continuity of care was just superior and I've worked in doctor's offices for 25 years and I always felt I did a really good job and you want to work with that doctor, they did a really good job that when you go through all of that test thing even though everybody is really nice and you have to remember all your family history and they all wrote that down, and when I got to Dr. Mitchell's office, I said I have to go through all of that stuff again and they were like, no, we got your records in this has been filed the next day, so they had less than 24 hours to get him my records and he show up for my appointment time with the surgeon and she looked down and had my chart and and she said they've already sent everything over. I was like wow, that is really impressive and then Dr. Mitchell come in and he has everything in the file there so he just asked me a question or 2 just to verify a couple of things and then he did his exam but I think that's great, it sure saved me from having to go through it again and for their office to share the information like that, I thought it was wonderful. I was really impressed both of the doctors actually, after they finished explaining to you what you could expect from the surgery and then the healing process and instructions on how to take care of your eye drops because it's a lot of eye drops for like 4 weeks after you had surgery and then both of them when they're done they stop and look at me and said do you have any questions, is there anything that I can answer for you. A lot of doctors say that but they're saying that as they are walking out of the room with their back to you, you know is there anything else before they just step right out the door and both of these physicians didn't move when they're sitting on their stool and looked at me in the face and said what kind of questions do you have for me and I thought that was great. I didn't feel like I was a cattle being herded through. I think they're doing a wonderful job and it's just a very pleasant environment in their office, it seemed like everybody was really happy, they enjoy their job and you could feel that and you interact with them, in other doctor's office you almost feel like you could just get up and leave and I didn't feel that way at all. They're one of the better doctor's experiences that I've ever had.
