    They sent their "ice maker " specialist who came over , checked it and determined that it needed a certain switch. He ordered the switch and came back in three days and put it in.

    While there he also rerouted the drain line so it works better. This guy really knows icemakers.

    I had it worked on last year by "another" repair company. They took it back to their warehouse and kept it a month.

    I had a warranty appointment with S&S scheduled for Saturday with a 12-5 window.  They never showed up.  In their defense, Whirlpool provided them with a bad phone number, but that is no excuse for not showing up.  They could have easily looked up my number if they needed to reach me - we are in the same city!  At 3:30 on Saturday, I tried calling S&S (there are several numbers listed on their website) and I was unable to reach anyone.  I also tried to call Whirlpool to find out if S&S was coming, and they were closed. 

    When I got in touch with them on Monday morning, they blamed their lack of service on the bad phone number from Whirlpool.  They did not apologize for nor showing up.  I asked if they would consider scheduling a more specific time since they missed the last appointment and all they could offer was another window.  Basically, they don't care.  Whirlpool will continue to feed them warranty work and they will do it when they feel like it.

    Perhaps they treat their non-warranty customers better.

    First repairman left dryer vent unhooked and did not repair problem. 2 nd repairman fixed it, but temporarily. The parts to fix washer were $700 so I bought new dryer and washer. The front loaders only lasted 5 years

    A young man (Sam) arrived within the agreed upon time frame, had all the parts that might be necessary to repair my washer - which would not drain or spin. The office even called me to tell me the truck was about 20 minutes from me so I got a little extra "heads up" from them. He promptly tested and showed me the problem. He replaced the switch that is engaged when the washer lid is closed - hooked it directly into the timer switch, and tested to be sure this did repair the problem. He took the entire cabinet off in order to accomplish this; but he did it quickly - and remarked that because my washer was in the basement with ample space for him to work it would go fast.
    I gave them a B rating on the price because the switch price is less than $25.00, and Sam was here less about an hour so I view that as at least $175 an hour labor. Pretty steep in my view, but for promptness and competency this company provided, I'm willing to pay their price again and again.

    We called when our side-by-side refrigerator / freezer began having trouble keeping the refrigerator side cold. The freezer stayed well below zero, but the refrigerator side would climb as high as 55F. The office personnel were friendly and professional and said they could send a repair tech the next day. The tech arrived as scheduled and introduce himself. He was friendly and professional.
    The problem ended up being the "diffuser" or cold air exchange control between the freezer and refrigerator. This part was identified quickly as the issue, but had to be ordered. This meant we might need to spend a week or more without a reliable refrigerator in the kitchen. The tech demonstrated how to open the shutters on the diffuser manually with a screw driver or blade - which allowed us to keep that compartment much closer to the correct temp while waiting on the part.
    The part took a little longer than expected  to arrive - almost two weeks. However, they contacted me as soon as it arrived and were able to send the same tech out same-day to install it. Once again, the tech arrived on schedule and replaced the part quickly. This solved the problem as expected.
    Overall, this was a positive repair experience with the exception of the time required to order and receive the part.

    I left a voice message at the business number, and I got a return call the same day. My appointment was the next day. Service man was on time, pleasant, cleaned up. I've waited to long to write this to remember every detail, but it was a pleasant, positive experience from start to finish.

    Overall, this was a bad experience. After the sale, they totally ignored us and our needs. We would not recommend them to others. They were wonderful with the sale, but the issue we had with them was with the warranty.

    It was good, they were very quick and timely. You know it wasn't cheap. It was 200 dollars but they did what they said they were going to do. It was one trip and it was very fast and courteous. They didn't leave a huge mess.

    We knew when we initially met and talked with Bob that his team would do first rate work. Bob's experienced, professional and extremely thorough. And all the guys who work with Bob, including Bill, Brian, Chuck, and Kaye, have been absolutely wonderful, as well. They are pleasant to have in the house, do excellent work, and generally treat the project as if they were doing it in their own homes. They clean up each evening, and are willing to let me make minor changes on certain things, as necessary. I will absolutely call them as we have further work done on the house. I highly recommend One Man And A Hammer!
