    Norrell Service Experts
The company called to let me know that the technician was on his way and he arrived within the time frame specified. Mark Smith was courteous, professional and efficient. He inspected, cleaned and tested the A/C system and made sure everything was operating properly before he left. We have used Norrell's services for about 7 years and will continue to do so.

After a quick call to Randy, Kyle arrived within the hour just as reported. Kyle was very knowledgeable and helpful, explaining the why and the fix - not just completing the job and presenting a bill. This is something I appreciate for future purposes. Kyle explained everything even discussing further information which gave me a better understanding of the system. I was very impressed with these guys and have found my "Go to" A/C and Heating company from here on. I've already forwarded their information to friends and neighbors for any future work.

The quality of service was great! It took them a couple days, they kept putting me off, but they finally got here. I would just be careful to make sure that the price was understood beforehand. Just one person came out. It took a part of one day and then a half of the next day, so I would say approximately 6 hours. That?s 2 hours in one day and 4 hours the next day. They sent one technician out and then troubleshooting it after they delayed a couple days. They trouble shot it and by the time they got here to troubleshoot on a Friday, they had to fix it on a Saturday.

Had I?d known they were going to be that delayed, then I would have a problem and we would?ve gotten somebody else. After they got here and did the job, they did a good actual job. They cleaned up, it was a professional clean up. Customer service stood out, cause they are real attentive to the customer and gave a lot of options as to what you can or can?t do and what the cost is.

I requested contact via an alternative home services website referral process.  I received an acknowledgement within 24 hours and had an appt set up within the week.  I realized the timing would be good for HVAC contractors as it was not hot or abnormally cold temps.  Once I spoke with the contractor, I did my own due diligence to look for any red flags.  We are very gun shy of HVAC contractors after our 2nd NIGHTMARE HVAC situation in the past 10 years, both involving different home warranty companies.  I didn't find any negative reviews, but did find some positive reviews from different sources.  Von Arthur is the owner operator of the company.  He shared that he started out working for a major Birmingham company and was there many years until the owner passed away.  At that point, he decided to go into business for himself.  He has operated his business for more than 10 years.  I like to talk to people who I am considering to do business with because I need to trust them.  I had already done extensive research on my system as I put together a complaint against the home warranty hvac contractor, so I was fairly well versed on the basics of my system and what I hoped for as a replacement.  I wasn't necessarily tied into a certain brand, although I had a preference towards Lennox, as I have dual systems.  Von specializes in Lennox.  My main unit, a 4 ton, required replacement.  He took his time to assess why the system failed, and showed and explained to me.  He also shared ways to increase the efficiency with options.  He  explained why I could gain significant efficiency with the basic "builder grade" Lennox, rather than spending much more for the mid-grade.  We were very price sensitive, so I really liked how he wasn't pushing to up sell me or make me think the basic unit was junk.  What he did do was explain to me how much more technologically advanced the basic system of today is and how pairing the condenser with a variable speed air handler would achieve 15 SEER efficiency.  The potential add on options he suggested involved some minor changes in the rigid foam ducting, but he wasn't pushing this, only offering.  I liked how Von did his own work.  I obtained quotes from 4 different contractors.  I found the 2 smaller scale contractors were significantly more competitive in their pricing and more willing to research my questions than the 2 large HVAC firms. The only reason I didn't choose to do business with Von Arthur was because I ended up getting a brand new system after I filed a complaint with the state HVAC board about the home warranty contractor.  I won't hesitate to contact AB Cooling & Heating when it comes time to replace our 2.5 unit that is now 10 years old.  Hopefully that will be later, rather than sooner.

They told me when they would be there, and then they wouldn't show. "Oh, a job took longer than we thought." I asked why no one had called me to tell me this: "Oh, we should have. Sorry."
This happened over and over again, but I had a contract and was stuck with them.
Then, after everything was "complete," I tried it out. There was no hot air blowing out the vents. They had "forgotten" to do something.
I will never use them again.

W C Wright & Son Heating and AC
W.C. Wright have us the best price and best option for an extended 10 year warranty on labor than any of the other companies that gave us prices. They arrived on time, worked hard (didn't even stop to eat lunch), were friendly, and the system seems to be working great. They carried off all the old equipment and boxes from new equipment, however, after they left I swept up about 8 screws that were lying on the basement floor and on driveway that could have punctured our car tires had I not discovered them first. Overall, it was a very good experience.

    AUX Home Services
Aux uses in their advertising that they're and quot;always on time.and quot; I had one experience - the first - that the service man came when he was supposed to. There was a lot of work that needed to be done at a house we had just purchased. In addition to the above, there were 4 service calls where they were not only not on time, but also didn't even arrive on the same day. When I called THEM (they didn't even bother to call me to say that the technician wouldn't make it that day), I was told, after hours of phone calls and and quot;yes, he'll be there, and quot; that the serviceman wouldn't actually be able to come that day, and they'd put it on their schedule for first thing in the morning - which turned out to be the first thing after they finished the job from the day before, which meant it would be afternoon, or possibly not at all that day, either.
I signed a service contract with them, but will not do any more business with them.
I VERY STRONGLY devise against using them.

    Capital Heating & Cooling
.discount for 5% for Seniors. I called Capital and asked them if they could give me a better discount, Tommy the owner offered me a 200.00 discount. Which I really appreciated. When the gentleman came out Wednesday Sept. 25th. They were nice, and punctual, and efficient. Jim volunteered me a rebate form with Alagasco for 200.00. I won't know if I am eligible for weeks. Hopefully.
However, I won't really know how the heat unit works until cold weather arrives. The crew was very helpful in cleaning up all the trash from their work area and started and tested the system to my satisfaction.
This was a very expensive project for me. But I wanted someone with good reference. My son Darrel Holcombe who owns The Sanctuary Christian Book Store in Alabaster, Alabama referred Capital to me because they service his Air and Heat. I then went on Angies List to get their grade and referrals..
Being a Christian I always give thanks to my heavenly Father for his blessings. I am grateful for my little place of abode where I have lived for almost 50 years. It's getting old and in need of repair. It is good to have Angies list to check on my needs and know I can find someone reliable and efficient. My daughter Tina Fernandez has used Angies List many times and it was her advice that I join.
Blessings on Angies List and those that affiliates with her.

    Freedom Heating & Cooling
My in-laws, The Tidwells, recently moved to Chelsea and they were having trouble getting someone to come out to their house on a weekend to check on their A/C. Some said they lived too far out and others said it was to hot too go up in the attic. So they asked me to find them someone so I used Angie's list and found the highest rated company in Birmingham, Freedom Heating & Cooling. I called them mid-morning on Saturday and they said they would get out there ASAP but all their technicians were booked for Saturday. The gentleman on the phone said he would send someone that day if a job finished early or if there was a cancellation. I thought "yeah right." Sure enough, a technician named Jason Garner showed up in a couple of hours. We purchased the $66 Angie's list coupon for the complete A/C tune up. Since he was pressed for time he told them he'd get them up and running so they wouldn't be sweating all weekend but he would need to come back another day due to the system-wide tune-up since he was so heavily scheduled that day. He did just what he said and got them going in short order and then came back and did the tune-up. Jason Garner was awesome! He was so good they decided to purchase a very affordable maintenance plan with them. They highly recommend him and Freedom Heating & Cooling.

    Active Air Inc
The reason I had Active Air provided this service is because previously my air conditioning unit had problems. When that happened Active Air was the only company, out of three that I called, that showed up that day.
