  • Visit to home was timely after initial visit to service provider's store. I chose Autry Electronics because of reviews I read and the length of time in business with a positive BBB reputation. Basically it was his job to lose so long as I felt he had a reasonable proposal. I showed him our existing Bose Surround System moved from another house and explained our desire to use this equipment along with any necessary additions. We wanted surround sound in a Great Room and a separate upstairs den, 2 existing TVs mounted (1 outside on a terrace), some type of passive speakers or sound bar for the outdoor TV. I strongly emphasized our price consciousness, desire for good equipment, not cheap, and not high end. I know I stated this several times during the initial meeting explaining we just moved and had a limited budget for this luxury. The equipment I already had included: Bose Entertainment Center system , 2 sets of Bose dual cube speakers, 4 individual Bose cube speakers, 1 powered Bose Acoustimass subwoofer and 2 passive Bose Acoustimass subwoofers. So I was starting out with enough for 1 room minus a center channel speaker, plus the extra subwoofers. Glen asked me to follow up with him in a week if I did not receive a quote from him because he had several jobs he was committed to at that time. I had to call a week later when I did not hear from him. On 9/7/13, I received an email which said he was slammed and trying to get caught up. 2 days later I received a document detailing scope of work with no pricing, asking for confirmation that nothing was overlooked. It appeared he may not have made good notes because I had to review much of the scope again. He asked me to send him pictures of my existing equipment, which I did. On 9/10/13, I finally received the proposal, with some options listed. I liked that options were provided; however, the price was a shocker since I already has so much equipment of my own and the proposal bottom line did not include the cost for the outdoor speaker bar to be attached to the TV. The speaker bar would ADD an additional $399.00 for less expensive option or $1399.00 for more expensive option. So, really the price for the job would be ($3059.77 + $399.00) $4059.00 minimum!!!! I contacted Glen and asked him to take a look at his proposal and see where we could save some money since the most I was willing to spend was no more than $3000.00 and really closer to $2000.00. He offered to sell me a used receiver with bad HDMI inputs to shave off a few hundred. So what he needed was really just too far off from what my budget could accommodate. I did find him to be a nice person with a professional demeanor.

  • We took our old Bose system from a house we just moved from and wanted to use it to save money instead of re-purchasing all new.  We were very price sensitive since moving can be costly.  We knew we would have to add some new equipment since we wanted surround sound in the main Great Room and also an additional independent system in an upstairs den.  We had a newly purchased 60" LCD TV to mount in the Great Room over the fireplace where none previously existed.  We wanted a TV and speakers installed on an outdoor terrace where the previous owner only had a TV that he took with him but no speakers ever existed (only wires hanging down), we also wanted some speakers mounted in a basement gym area and lastly a satellite jack moved in the Master bedroom.  We had 2 companies quote this, explaining to both what we wanted to do.  We wanted good quality, but did not require the extreme cutting edge of technology.  The other company (which I will review separately) did not listen to what I wanted and came in ridiculously high and subsequently offered to sell me used equipment that was not fully functional to lower the astronomical price.  Tony Nichols listened very carefully to what we wanted and thoughtfully prepared a plan at a  fair price.  He gave me all the links to research the new equipment that his proposal included so that I could do my research.  I reviewed all the named equipment, read specs, user reviews on different websites and then asked Tony questions about various models of this equipment (Denon networked A/V receiver, Tru Audio Ghost Series speakers, Soundbar, and Satellite speakers).  What I really liked about Tony was he did not try to sell me a system that had no room for growth, didn't spec super low end or conversely more than I needed. I can make changes over time as the need or desire dictates.  He used every single piece of my existing equipment in the best place for the individual pieces.  I painted some of my Bose dual cube sets to match with some helpful tips from Tony (it worked out beautifully).  When I asked about components not spec'd that would have cost me more, he explained to me why they would not necessarily improve my sound experience and hence why there was no need to spend more $$$.  Who does this????  Another factor we valued was Tony doing all his own work and not subbing it out.  As a former business owner, I love this.  Lean and mean.  The work ethic and disclipline are there and also the concern for maintaining a clean work area.  He had all the tools and gadgets you can imagine, plus the experience working in all kinds of homes to know how to the job right the first time.  He paid attention to how my home was wired and jacks installed.  for example, my house has jacks installed in base moulding instead of in the drywall, so he verified how I wanted things to look aesthetically and then did it, collecting and removing trash, sweeping and vacuuming up behind himself.  He also cleaned up a huge mess of wires from the previous owner's TV set up.  It took several days to complete the job, but I was clearly informed of the days and times to expect to see him.  He called one day ahead of time to say he was running a few minutes late, so that I would know what to expect.  In the end, our systems worked great, were explained and then demonstrated clearly so that we could operate them.   Tony followed up a few days after the installation was complete to insure everything was working as expected.  Are we satisfied with this experience?  You bet.  Seriously, this is how a business should be run.  The whole experience has been a good one.  Will we use Tony again and can we recommend him based on our experience?  Absolutely.
