    BANKSTON MOTOR HOMES INC
Our windshield on our RV fell out due to it being incorrectly installed. I had to pay $2000 out of pocket for a repair. I reached out to Bankston but they did not offer any sort of remedy in a timely manner.

    BANKSTON MOTOR HOMES INC
ADDENDUM to original report (below): Approximately three weeks after my initial review, I was contacted by the rental manager, Ricky, after he had read my comments. He stated that Bankston would indeed fully refund my third (unused) rental day as originally agreed, and apologized for both the RV's sewage tank issue and for my overall dissatisfaction with the rental experience. I have thus changed the overall grade from a "C" to a "B" as well as changing my statement regarding future use of the company to "yes". INITIAL REVIEW: In the lead up to this rental, my inquiry emails received no response, and requests for callbacks from someone in the rental department were either forgotten or ignored. In order to obtain any specific information, I had to visit the dealership in person. This should have probably been my first clue that customer service did not appear to be a top priority. Secondly, the cost of the rental was significantly higher than expected--and by "significantly" I mean several hundred dollars. The company's web page for its rentals is overtly misleading: it lists daily costs of rental, insurance, mileage, and generator use. BUT, calculations based upon those listed prices will result in a total far lower than what you actually end up paying, because what the website does NOT mention is that there is a minimum three day rental, and that the minimum fee for this is $750. I planned to turn the rental in a day early (keeping it only two days) and stated this at the time of initial deposit; I was told by the rental manager that I would be refunded the cost of the 3rd day. I did indeed return the unit a day early; however, Bankston did not honor the refund pledge, and I was charged for the full three day rental. Thirdly, the RV was not completely ready at the time of pickup. Before I left the dealership, I was informed that the RV must be returned with a full tank of fuel. I did not notice (given the difficulties of pulling out and driving an RV in busy traffic) until several minutes after leaving the dealership that the RV had only 1/4 tank of fuel! My mistake, I know, for failing to notice this the moment I cranked the engine, but if this is their policy, it seems very unevenly enforced. Even worse: the sewage (black water) tank was still FULL FROM THE LAST RENTAL, and this wasn't noticed by any of their personnel until I was nearly ready to drive off. The person assigned to go over operation of the RV with me and my wife, prior to taking the RV back to the service area to empty the sewage tank, showed us the location of its drainage valve and described the process of sewage emptying. In the process, a small amount of sewage water got onto his hands...he then went back into the RV, WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS, and ended up touching practically every inside surface with his sewage-contaminated fingers. I did not make an issue of this at the time, as some people just do not understand the concept of cross-contamination, but later my wife and I thoroughly disinfected every surface he had touched prior to leaving on our trip, resulting in peace of mind, but yet another departure delay. This man was otherwise very helpful and knowledgeable, but one would think he would, at the very least, have had the presence of mind to excuse himself for five minutes to go wash his hands! Lastly, prior to leaving, I asked for an "In Case of Emergency" number to be provided, in the even of breakdowns or other mechanical problems. The number given to me was "not in service" (I test-called prior to leaving), requiring me to call the main number and spend 15 minutes on hold before I was given a working emergency number. Overall, I was left with the impression of a company staffed by inattentive and corner-cutting personnel. One exception to this was the receptionist for the rental department, Ruth, who promptly and professionally returned calls and voicemails. If given an alternative, I would not rent an RV from Bankston again. If they're the only option available, I would use them, but would be very, VERY careful and specific about the terms of the rental agreement...and definitely check the sewage tanks.
