AMy experience with Hernandez Brick and Masonry was very good. I called the office and spoke with Rosa. After explaining the project to her, she made an appointment to come and provide an estimate. Not only did they arrive on time, they sent a text asking to come a half hour earlier. Some bricks has fallen off an outside wall next to an outside stair case leading to the lower level of the house which is built into the side of a hill with only one side of the basement exposed. The bricks are obsolete so the ones in the wall had to be cleaned and reused. Rosa gave me an estimate on the spot. After accepting the offer we set a time to complete the project. I was able to remain in contact with Rosa by texting. Her response was always immediate. She provided a written description of the job and also showed me a copy of their license and insurance. Jesus Hernandez a coworker Jaun and Rosa arrived as scheduled. They worked for 8 hours without a break. Not only did they do an excellent job on the wall but they decided to fix some significant deterioration on the mortar seams in the stairs as well. When I requested Jesus to set 3 bricks at the front door of the house with the left over mortar, he quickly agreed. While setting the bricks Jesus noticed some mortar seams that had deteriorated, because of settling, on the steps leading to the front door. Without being asked he repaired them as well. This was done at no extra cost. Jesus and Jaun also did a superb job of cleanup even to the extent of using a sponge and water to wipe down the brickwork. This was the best experience I have had with contractor. I will definitely recommend Hernandez Brick and Masonry to my friends and will use them again myself if the need arises.- Herb G.

ACurtis Clemons is great. Right on time and good quality work. When I needed them, he kept in touch with me and got the job done. I asked them to do additionally in another room and there was just a very small fee for that. We already had the paint, but it was next to thing. It was just a strip of wood in one of the other bedrooms. There weren't additional fees for the room that we asked them to paint. They're A plus. For quality of work, A plus. For responsiveness, definitely A plus. Professionalism is very much A. I'll absolutely use them again.- Bill M.

AExcellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, creative design ideas, and dependability are hallmarks of North Alabama Builders. The crew of Ben, Jared, and Mason were polite, respectful, and went beyond the call of duty and performed jobs other than the ones they were strictly contracted to complete. We are 100% satisfied with every aspect of the job(s) they did and recommend them highly. If you need home repairs/remodeling, North Alabama Builders should be your first (and last) call!

COverall, I graded the job a C because the finished product is a C.
The leader of the crew that did the work told me that I had purchased two men for 6-8 hours, and that he was contracted by Cobalt to perform the work, that he did not work for Cobalt. There was not mention of 6-8 hours in the posting, and I was immediately feeling uncomfortable about what exactly I had purchased. I bought a crew of "painters", not the support and oversight of a professional painting company.
We had scheduled the work a week in advance, and the day of the job, there was rain in the forecast. I suggested we re-schedule, but was told that he was booked for at least the next week, and that it was not raining now, and "why don't we get started."
In advance, I was told to get a gallon of paint, and a gallon of thinner. I assumed the paint would be brushed or rolled. Was not told that I would also need to provide masking suppliers and several gallons paint. I did buy a few drop clothes, and had a few rolls of masking tape, but was not prepared for masking to spray. So, let the painters use 6 mil poly to mask, and had a giant amount of trash in front of my house when done. (Could have been neatly rolled up, but that would have taken extra time, and was made worse because one of the painters lost his phone and thought it might be in side the plastic wrap).
The rain came about 1/3 of the way through the paining. They came back the next day to finish, and "sort of" addressed water issues by repainting. There was a serious hurry to get done and on to the next job, so there were a lot of missed spots. There should have been two coats applied. They came back a few weeks later to repaint the missed spots, and the job is complete. The quality is okay, but well below the original paint job, and would definitely not impress anyone. The ironic part.. I had a quote to have the work done, for $50 less than the Angie's list deal. I thought that I would get more for my 16 hours of work, but did not. I did not like the pay before the work is done and hope it gets done right.- Sheri B. -
AI thought, his prices were a little high, but they did the work. The guy was very conscientious, and played out some problems that some other people had done. They were just very good. Excellent painters! I thought, it was a little pricey, but I really think his quality work was far above and beyond anybody I have had painting before in my house. I would definitely use them again in the future. Actually, I'm planning to paint the outside of my house.- Deborah W.

AHad entire roof replaced (50 plus squares). David the owner was very helpful in dealing with the insurance adjuster. He reccomended a shingle brand. I checked out some other brands at local stores but went with the brand he recommended. I did choose a pro version of the shingle which was not in stock, but once product came in they had the roof replaced in 3 days. David had also recommended a better material than the normal tar paper which I did have used.
I had asked if they could do additional repairs and he was agreeagble to all the work I wanted done with a good price. This additional work included gutter replacement, facia board and soffit repair, replacement of some siding and painting almost all the trim, facia, soffit, and garage doors. These additional repairs were about a third of the total cost and did take longer, but I was not under any time rush. The siding had to be specially ordered but he took care of finding a source and ordering enough for the amount of siding to be replaced
There were different people doing the work but the jobs were completed to my satisfaction. The owner did come out to check on the work progress and occasionally thought the workers should have cleaned up better before they quit for the day. Overall I was very happy with the work done.

D3 years later I am still upset with the quality of the painting they did. They did a good job on the first project we hired them for and then took a very long time to finish the second project. There are spots of dripped paint nearly everywhere that I am still trying to clean up. And at one point, Izzy pulled aside to ask for more money ($500) because he said he underestimated the amount of paint.

AMember Comments: We contacted A+ Welding to replace all of the wrought iron fence, light posts, and gates at the pool deck after our extensive landscape, stonework, and pool deck expansion. They were able to fit us in on their tight schedule so our yard would be ready for our family reunion. Their estimate was precise and the quality of work was excellent. They were punctual and highly professional. We called them back a week later to build another gate on our pool fence since the quality of work and performance on the first job was outstanding. I will highly recommend Jason McNatt, the owner, and his company to anyone needing welding, fabrication, and restoration. They are honest, dependable, knowledgeable, and are hard workers. They cleaned up after their jobs and won the approval of my Stone Landscaper for future recommendations as well.- Nicholas G.

AIt went great, they did a wonderful job. I've had other people do stucco and it's the best stucco job I've ever seen. The sheet rock on the inside was excellent. They were clean, under budget and on time.- Mary S.

AHe said he'd start a certain date and was a no show. Then, I found out that the thermostat in his van broken and he was without transportation. He replaced it, showed one day and not the next. Finally, found out that the replaced thermostat was bad, and he had to replace it again. So, he was behind in all his jobs, working & bidding. When the auto problem had been resolved he and his co-worker were right there in extreme heat working on my home. Due to the heat they worked half days (am glad they did - it was the hottest week of the summer). They did a superior job once things got going. The work went very quickly and they kept the area clean and neat, finishing in about a week. Mr. Bradford listened to my concerns & did all the woodwork himself, while his co-worker did the painting. I thought his prices seemed a little high, but it was far superior to any work I had done in the past 17 years. So, the price was probably just right. I will be calling Mr. Bradford again for work that I need done. Would highly recommend him and one of my neighbors has already asked for his information.- Deborah W.
