ALifesaver Storm Shelters of North AlabamaThey have to dig a hole, put these in, there are different sizes you can pick from, I chose one that would seat 12-15 people. They put it in the ground, they anchor it, then they re level the ground back around it, but of course, they don't cover the top so you can open that and there's stairs to go down in, and just pretty neat. It would have been less if I wanted a smaller one, but I wanted a larger one. We can stand up inside of it, and there are stairs that going up, which go higher than that. It's just one room, there's bench seating all the way around three sides. Then where the stairway is there's places where you can stack water, well we have a baby over here so we keep the formula and things like that, bottles, and blankets, and pillows, and that sort of thing. There's room in there for that plus four people. We have been in it 3 times. The dimensions are 66 inches wide, 9 feet six inches long, and 6 feet 3 inches tall. They were tested by the US military to protect armed forces, they fired two by fours into them at like a hundred miles an hour, and I believe there reinforced fiberglass, and it won't penetrate, there just pretty good deals. I did ask them to come out early to help me pick a location, and they kept putting me off, and they never did, it ended up in a location I'm not, well it's okay, I mean, I'm glad it's there, but it's not ideal. I'm happy with the shelter, I just wanted it closer to the house than it ended up being. They do need to respond to customers and they need to go out early to pick locations, because they have to avoid things like if you have a septic tank, they have to avoid the field, all kinds of issues as far as locating it correctly, and they need to go out ahead the day that it's delivered and get it determined.- Cynthia D.

AValley Storm Shelters Of AlabamaThe Valley Storm Shelters company is excellent. I spent about a year doing my own research on tornado shelters and tornado safe rooms. I even spoke with Texas Tech University, who pioneered the certification process for safe room designs...they even spoke highly of this company. I couldn't feel more safe and have the piece of mind that I do without their product. After living through the monstrous EF-4 tornado in Tuscaloosa, AL during the superoutbreak of 2011, you have to set the bar high for me. What sold me on their above ground model is the Corelock anchoring system. My particular shelter is secured at thirteen different anchoring points; four of which utilize the Corelock system. This anchoring system uses four twenty-four inch Corelock anchor bolts embedded in 2-3 inches of solid concrete. The quality and strength of these shelters is obvious. All of the staff I spoke to when touring the showroom were very informative and answered all of my questions and concerns. I could tell they were committed to selling me safety and not worried about the profits. They were all genuinely vested in my peace of mind, safety, and satisfaction. The installation crew arrived at my home on time, ready to work. They were very friendly and personable, but didn't not stray from the job. They kept the work area very tidy and removed all rubbish from the work site. Overall, the total installation took about 3-4 hours. It was a great experience, and something I cherish having in my home.- Tyler F.

ARhodes ConstructionRhodes was very flexible on scheduling. He arranged his installation around my work schedule. His men were polite and professional at all times. The work took about two days total. No details were missed- from cutting the garage floor slab, to digging the hole for the shelter, to installing the shelter itself, to pouring the concrete. The only delays were caused by subcontractors- the dumpster company, the concrete company, etc and Rhodes was on top of those. He kept me in the loop at every step.- tom l.

ALewis & Son Roofing & ConstructionDuring the Winter 2015 we hired Lewis and Son (Shane Lewis) to replace all siding and wood with Hardie Board and the back decks with Trex Transcend composite decking. The team of workers was professional and thoughtful and we will use them again for future projects. They were always early and finished late to try and minimize the time to complete the job. ABetter Builders ConstructionBBC gave us a prompt, reasonable estimate, much lower than the $8000 figure suggested by the builder our insurance agent recommended. From the beginning Dennis seemed to know exactly what needed to be done. He briefly delayed starting the project until his brick mason was back in town. He called to confirm the appointment before he came out. Our house was left secure and looking as normal as possible at the close of each day's work. The brick mason seemed somewhat slow, partly because he was working alone. He worked long hours on the July 4 holiday and came back for a long day on Saturday. We didn't have- Bill & Lady E.

FI found McMunn on Angie's List. I called and Roger and Josh came to our house and we discussed a bathroom remodel and replacing the roof. Their bathroom estimate was the lowest and felt confident for them to do the work. The bathroom cost a little over $10,000 and the roof a little over $10,000. There were some delays for the roof because of weather. The bathroom remodel took longer than estimated. There was a problem with the toilet leaking a few months after the work. I called Josh and he had the plumbers come over and fix the problem. They left the toilet without caulking and placed these little pieces to level the toilet. It looked terrible. A while later I noticed another small leak. I called Josh before the holidays and he explained that they were very busy and I agreed to wait until after the holidays to have the plumbers look at the toilet. No phone call after January. Josh's mailbox was full, Roger's mailbox was full. I emailed. Roger said that "they are changing phone services" and will have Josh call. Josh promised that he would call the next Monday. February 11, still no phone call. Josh's mailbox is full. I called Roger and he answered his phone and again said that "they are changing phone services" and he would have Josh call. Today, February 17, still no phone call. Thank you Roger and Josh for taking over $20,000 from retirees and not honoring your guaranty. We will look for another plumber and contractor for the additional work that needs to be done.

AThe replaced my old heat pump, put in a new pad, repaired some insulation around the ductwork around the house, and even put mulch around the new pad. All for the original estimate give, all included. (I had another company come by and give me an estimate and they quoted $11,000 to $12,000, saying I needed new ductwork, which I didnt.). I recommend Bobby Terry Co.

AIt took several months before they got to me, because they are quite busy, but I was not in a big hurry. They did an excellent job; it looks great! They re-used my brick and did a good job of matching the mortar. They removed the whole area around the cracks, cleaned it up, and then re-assembled it. They also redid some brickwork under a downspout and that looks nice as well. They put new molding and lintel around the garage.

AWe originally had a very small shower (3 ft square) and was not using our tub. We had ACR turn the shower into a closet, and convert the tub to a walk-in shower. The job was professionally done and looks great. Nick came up with several ideas to make the project work for us. My only gripe was that it took a bit longer than the quoted 2 weeks.
