    M & N Roofing & Construction
They did a great job.  The quality is very good and I'm very pleased with the resulting look of my porches.  John Mason and his team showed up when they said they'd be there and did the work for the price I was quoted.  I highly recommend M&N Roofing & Construction for vinyl work and other construction trades.

I first contacted Roger McMunn in the fall of 2014 about removing our existing wood deck and replacing it with a covered concrete patio. While at the house to figure his initial estimate, Roger listened patiently to all of our questions and concerns and gave us good input on different size options, the placement of the patio, etc. His estimate was affordable and he also gave us different estimates for different size options we had discussed previously. The project was put on hold due to bad weather and uncertainty from my wife and I about the patio size. We didn't get in touch again until January 2015 when Roger checked in on us to see if we were still interested. I informed him we were and asked if he could give us an estimate for a larger patio size which included an extra six feet of uncovered concrete to one side. Roger gave us the final estimate which was still affordable and later sent us a Scope of Work document with all of the details of the project. I brought up a few questions/concerns regarding some of the more specific details in the proposal. Roger addressed every single one to my satisfaction and sent out a revised Scope of Work document.
Work began on February 10th, 2015. On this first day, Roger and other members of his work crew took down our old wood deck and excavated the area to prepare it for the concrete slab. This included taking down a few shrubs and later setting up the forms for the slab. The next day another crew poured the concrete. Roger was in constant contact with me to inform me what was going on and even made sure the larger trucks avoided driving into our back yard so as to minimize any damage to the grass. Later that afternoon, the concrete was taking longer than expected to set up (due to the moisture in the air), but Roger's concrete crew stayed with it (until almost 8:00 that night!) until the concrete in the slab finally got set. The next day another crew arrived to install the metal patio cover. This included taking down a section of our existing gutter and attaching the cover the existing wood fascia. On the final day (the 13th), Roger, his son, and another worker arrived to install a set of concrete steps and a handrail while the patio cover crew arrived to finish the cover installation. Roger continued to be present to address any questions/concerns I may have had. At some point, one of the trucks that drove onto our driveway had accidentally pulled a suspended cable (for our house internet connection) that hangs over our driveway. Roger's son and his work partner hung the cable back to its proper place (actually in a better spot than before) and later brought to my attention a problem with my roof which I was unaware of (a problem I confirmed with other roofers who looked at it later that month). After a week or two, during a good rain, I noticed a slight water leak forming over the center part of the patio cover. I contacted Roger about the problem and he immediately contacted the head of the patio cover crew who then called me to address the problem. His crew came out in a few days, fixed the leak, and so far we have not had any further issues.
We are very happy with our new patio and look forward to using it a lot this coming summer and in the coming years. Roger McMunn is extremely professional, friendly, easy-going, and patient, and is always ready to address a customer's questions or concerns. I would highly recommend his contracting company and will certainly keep him at the top of our list for any possible future projects.

Brian Snider and his team came out and built a beautiful stained cedar pergola in our backyard. It is definitely the highlight and focal point of our backyard. The pergola is a 15' x 15' structure, complete with detailed angled bracing, high quality cedar, strong hardware (screws and bolts), etc. His guys also installed 20 cedar posts on the front and back porches with matching braces. His guys were professional, courteous, highly skilled and very clean cut. We love going to our backyard. It's become our outdoor den. Thanks to Brian and his guys for an awesome job.

    KT's Home Repair Service
He spoke to my husband and told us that he would come out to put up that fence on Memorial Day. We told him that wasn't going to work for us, so he agreed to come out first thing on Tuesday (today). Well, my husband called him last night, and there was no answer. Today, my husband took time away from his teaching responsibilities and even called him this morning as well. Well, KT Home Repair Service never came out/showed up and never returned any of our phone calls.

They did a good job at a reasonable price. The guys showed up and got it done. They knew what they were doing and they went ahead and finished it rather than sitting around for a month or so. The price was not a bargain, but it was fair.

We were very pleased with the level of professionalism and quality of work from Tony and his crew.
Tony was especially responsive to several changes we made (along the way) and everything turned out wonderfully!
The crews cleaned up the location each day, as promised, which was great to not come home to a mess each afternoon.
The job was completed ahead of schedule, which was also a pleasant surprise.  We are thoroughly enjoying the evenings on our new porch--and hope to never have to use the new safe room/storm shelter--but feel a great sense of relief knowing that it's there, just in case.

They either didn't put a screws in far enough, so screws were sticking up, so 150 missing screw or sticking up.  The railings were not 45, there were just stuck them up, and they were overlapped and uneven. There was four different places where  boards that were cut in to the wrong length.  So they just cut up pieces of little boards and pieced it together.  The boards for deck, they had them instead of staggered, they had them going in one direction. They had all the high parts down, and should have been staggered.

I had a handyman come out because there was an inch and half in one place where the boards were sticking up.  When I confronted them, they said there was something wrong, which he wouldn't fix because it wasn't in the contract.

I had someone else put int he missing screws.  The rails were completely shot.  It was just a mess and nightmare. It's the shottiest work I've ever seen. I did contact them to fix this, and he originally said he would have someone come out, and they were supposed to be here at 11 on a certain day, and they said after they had already come out.  Instead of screwing in the screws farther, they took a hammer and knocked them in. You could see the round part of the hammer on wood.

He called me after I contacted the BBB, and stated that since I contacted them, he would just go through them, I've never heard from him since. I paid a guy $600 plus $440 for material to put in new rails.

He was very flexible with start dates of the job, as we wanted to delay a few weeks.  Front porch railing was up in one day and he even replaced a couple of boards that had warped after a few days.  We had him tear out the entire back deck and start from scratch, but he saved the wood for us at our request.  The entire deck and pergola were completed in 3 days with very little interruption to the tenants.  He added a couple of boards to cover the slight opening under the deck after we did a full walk-around inspection.  Very happy with the details he included, including lighting and locks on the gates.

    Harold Hill Handyman
Harold is a private guy and he is a handyman kind of a guy. He does really good work. I paid for the materials and it cost me about $250. He is on time and does excellent work. If he sees something wrong, he will let you know about it. If he is working on a project and he sees something that should have been different in the house, he will tell you about it. He will show you what could be done to correct it and he will correct it. He is really thorough and very meticulous. When it comes to the price, you can’t beat him. Sometimes he is a bit early than we think he would be. I am planning on using his services in the future too.

    Madison Fence and Deck
They were a no-show for their first estimate. The owner called, apologized and explained that he couldn't come because of a recent back surgery and that the employee he had asked to take care of it did not and also did not take care of many things he had asked him to do. He sounded sincere and like he really wanted my business and asked to reschedule the estimate. He said that he would come out 'ready to work' and would beat my other contractors' prices. I asked him if he was even up for it due to his surgery. He told me he would be able to supervise with no problem. None of those things happened. He sent the same employee he blamed for the no- show to take measurements and he arrived three hours late. That employee did not call back until over 24 hrs later with the estimate (the other contractors were able to give me estimates on the spot). He did not have all the answers to the questions I had asked him and promised to call his boss and call me right back. I never heard from them again. I ended up going with a contractor who gave me a lower estimate and always showed up on time.
