Pet Specialist reviews in Ardmore

Dr. Johnson had stated to me on my first visit that the sight in one of my cat's eyes would be returning once the blood pressure was under control.  I returned to her on at least 3 further visits within one month to check the blood pressure and determine if the sight had returned. It had not.  On my last visit, I asked why the sight had not returned and she stated "I don't know".  She then referred me to a cardiologist in Franklin, TN.  I traveled the next day to the Blue Pearl clinic where the cat was tested and the blood pressure was found to be good.  The cardiologist asked me why I there.  I stated I wanted to know if the cat was going to get his eye sight back as Dr. Johnson stated.  The cardiologist said I was at the WRONG PLACE and Dr. Johnson should have sent me to the pet eye specialist in Nashville.  I immediately traveled to the eye specialist where I was told that both of the cat's retina's were torn and lying at the bottom of the eye - one was freshly torn.  Therefore, nothing could be done for my cat's eyesight and he was permanently blind.Dr. Johnson was obviously in over her head and refused to admit this.  She should not have tried to treat this case when there was a specialist within one hour of Countryside.  If I had gone to the eye specialist on the day after seeing Dr. Johnson instead of one month later - the sight in one eye of my cat could well have been saved.  I will never go to Countryside again and am filing a complaint against Dr. Johnson with the Alabama Board of Veterniary Medicine for incompetence and unprofessional behavior.

They came to the determination that there was really nothing wrong with her that they could do through a standard evaluation.  They gave me the option to go ahead and do a CAT scan and have her tested to see if there was something wrong in the brain.  This has only ever happened twice.  On my own I think I figured out what the problem is.  We didn't go through the additional testing and it hasn't happened since.  She is 16 or 17 years old.  What we are thinking is that she lies in one position for too long and her limbs go to sleep.  When she gets up, she flops around and falls over.  Once things get moving again, she is fine.  Usually once it happens, it only lasts for 15 or 30 seconds and then she is fine.  The only thing is that about 3 months later I got a bill in the mail for $3.00.  Apparently I didn't pay my license fee for the rabies shot.  Other than that missing piece of information, they did a nice job.  They are good people.  You usually don't have to wait very long.  Punctuality is not applicable in this case.
