ASmithSons Enterprises Inc.After getting 6-7 quotes for a driveway replacement I decided to go with Smithsons. Most of the quotes came in within 10% of each other regarding cost. Smithsons proposal had 3 inches of Asphalt where most others were 2 inches. I also emailed back and forth with Doug Graham about a problem that needed fixed regarding the water shut off access. Within a few days Doug had a solution to replace the water shutoff access for a very reasonable $300 and coordinated this replacement with AWWU. I was home during the paving process and saw all the work and attention to detail that was taken on the project. I spoke with Chris, one of the owners, and Larry, the Paving Manager. These guys told me that during the removal process there was only 2 inches of Asphalt in most places and in some areas as little as 1 inch. The final results turned out great, and I think Smithsons was the best value for the money. Thanks for the great Job.- Chris M.

ASmithSons Enterprises Inc.I was highly impressed with the quality of their work. They had a couple of minor delays during the process due to uncertainty over utility placement, but once cleared up, they wrapped the job quickly. Absolutely top-notch paving: excavated clay fill, replaced with pit run, rolled, layered with geo-textile fabric, layer of D1, rolled again and compacted, thick asphalt layer with no seams, perfectly flat). Crew cleaned up the site meticulously, washing the street and hand-picking start gravel from the lawn. Crew was friendly, professional and accommodating. And the clincher, all this for an excellent price.- Matthew K.

ARock LandscapingMy experience with Rock Excavating was great! I had met with two Contractors previously for an estimate and they never even called me back. I met with Rock Landscaping and he assured me He could help me with my earthquake damaged hill that my house sits on as well as my driveway that was allowing water from the street to pool up against my foundation. The owner gave me updates on the progress of the job and didn't waste a minute getting in and saving my home from falling off the side of a forty foot hill! Re-sloped my driveway too, so now my foundation is not taking on a ton of water. The owner sensed the urgency in my Contractor needs and jumped right into action. ARock LandscapingRuss and his crew did a great job under the added pressure of getting important parts of the project done before freeze-up. I also increased the scope of the project as we got into it and Russ was very responsive and worked with me and had great suggestions about how to most cost-effectively accomplish the additional work. ARock LandscapingOutstanding! I contacted Russ on Saturday and by 5pm he had his supervisor come look at the job, responded with a quote and said he could have a crew start on Monday! As promised, his crew showed up Monday morning and immediately started working. By 4pm they had finished building a 4 ft high by 30 ft natural rock retaining wall AND cleaned up all the unused rock! Very professional and knowledgeable about building a beautiful natural rock retaining wall. While my job was just a small job, the service, price and professional treatment made me feel like is was a very big job. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and maybe having them do more work next summer!- John A.

A1-800-Asphalt LLCClouds moved in after Jeff had called to say they were coming and we had a couple of days of delays weather. Another call would have been helpful for us to say their plans changed, so we could plan our own day better. When we got a break in the weather they came over and did the whole job in a few hours. Henry and the other men on the crew listened carefully to my needs and described their materials, tools, and techniques. I can spread sealant myself, but I wasn't about to try pouring hot asphalt in the wide cracks myself. The drive looks good and the surrounding area is still clean.- Robert W.

Business Description:
We first opened our doors in 1989 with a few employees. We are a general contractor in South Central Alaska, Alaska's Asphalt Paving Specialist. We offer Residental and commerical services. GMG General, Inc. is licensed, Bonded, and insured.

FGMG appeared to do a great job asphalting the driveway. Four years later contacted them regarding an issued. They do not have a length of warranty time on their proposal. The office gals informed me it's one year. It is not on their contract. What is on the contract basically says they are not responsible for any problems. My situation is the asphalt didn't hardened underneath the top surface. While putting down edging between the grass and the asphalt, four years later, the underneath asphalt started coming out like lava. It was a day that was sunny and warm. Contacted GMG to informed them. General Manager Keven Rogers came over to look at the problem. He took measurements of the driveway and stated he would send over a proposal. After the second call he then sent over a blank proposal. Guess he was telling me It's Not GMG's Problem. This is a situation where it was not visual. How do you know what is happening underneath?
