I have seen S. Wilson about six times in the past year for disc problems/back pain. She has always been friendly, informative, helpful, and open to my questions and offers options and explanations for treatment. I wish there were many more like her in the medical professions. On this visit she examined me and made appropriate recommendations for treatment.

Dr. Colby has a gentle touch that does not make me feel like my bones are being forced to go into place, rather they slide to where they belong. Peggy has magic hands that soothe and relax my muscles. With my injury she is careful to help not hurt! I highly recommend this office.

I have been on pain management for years in Texas. Alaska healthcare is by far more expensive. I do not have insurance so $1000 for the first visit was sticker shock. There are others that will ask for less on the first visit but my first visit was actually considerably less. They kept a credit for me so the next few visits were paid for. This office is clean. The staff is very friendly and professional. My doctor is Dr. Lonser. He has a very friendly and professional bedside manner. Thanks to Dr Lonser, I am able to work and spend time in the great Alaska outdoors with my son.

Administered pain block to two nerves in my back. Dr. Roderer was referred by my back surgeon, and he was thorough, knowledgeable, and caring. I would definitely go back to him, and I highly recommend him.

I had a nerve block which didn't work and physical therapy which also didn't work. The physician was nice and his assistant was nicer.

Because i was 3mins. Late they wouldnt see me or refill my medicine. They told me i could get my medicine next month. Iwas on medicine that you couldnt just stop taking. Luckey For me my ortho dr.lapkass (another wonderful dr) set me up with another clinic And then he gave me my medicine. I felt there where times when the nurses and such Would be nice and other times when they would be rude and mean. And if you Every needed to call for anything the nurses would literally tell you that they didnt have Time for phone calls and to talk to the dr. Durning appt. Time only. I had a bad reaction to an injection i received and that was what i was Told before i could even tell them why i was calling. I ended up in the E.R. That night.

Colby Smith tried chiropractic care, massage, physical therapy, electrical stimulation to alleviate my neck pain. Unfortunately, nothing has reversed my pain, including nerve block, oral steroids, acupuncture and chiropracter. No fault of Dr. Colby. It seems I need surgery to replace discs and alleviate pinched nerve at C6-C7.

The tests were done well, but afterwards, the billing was outrageous and when staff was questioned about the billing they were rude to my wife. It is far less expensive to pony up the money and fly to the Lower-48 for any spine treatment or testing. They are not in-network with insurance companies but they don't tell you that, they just say they accept most insurance. It's a big difference between accepting and being in network. Make certain you clarify whether your doctor is "accepting" or in network. You will save a lot of money and grief.

My surgeon offered a couple of choices for shoulder day surgery and the Alaska Spine Institute was available on a day that worked for me. I went there the day before surgery to complete paperwork and was content with the front office and the nurse who I talked with. Although I had scheduled my surgery about 2 months in advance, they changed the time from first thing in the morning to mid-afternoon, a much less convenient time. They also kept increasing the amount of time I needed to be there prior to surgery, from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours. When I arrived for the surgery, I waited for about 30 minutes before being taken back to pre-op. The individual areas were small and not set up well for having a care taker/advocate/friend/family with you to pass the time, keep you calm and pay attention. The nurses were efficient, but not particularly soothing and as time wore on and my surgery was delayed, they did not keep me informed or do anything to calm my nerves. When it was finally my time I thought it turned into a scramble, and they were still organizing the OR when I walked in. When I came out of surgery and was in recovery, it was getting later in the day and I felt that they were in a hurry to get me out. They didn't seem to really know the protocol for my sling or how it should be all put together until the nurse from my pre-op appointment showed up and carried on with confidence. They never did call my care taker when I came out of surgery as they had promised to do, but she showed up when it seemed like enough time had passed. The nursing staff was not particularly kind to her and she, if fact, thought they were quite rude. I have had day surgery at two other locations in Anchorage and thought this did not compare favorably to either one. I would not voluntarily use them again.
