This experience with Burkeshore was good. They were very professional and courteous and flexible on getting my boat in. They gave me updates via phone and email on the progress of my motor. They called and emailed an itemized list of work to be performed with an estimated cost so I could review and give the ok to work on it. The mechanic Art found the source of a slow oil leak and put a new seal in. I had it serviced early in the year and they got it done in about two weeks. I would definitely recommend these guys as several of them told me that they appreciated my business and there was a sincerity that I appreciated.

They keep an eye out all year long on what is going on with your equipment. Make suggestions on what may be needed. Love this place. |

I had called the shop about a month before I dropped it off and informed them of all the things that I needed done. I was assured that they could handle everything as their web site claims they have 30 years of experience. It was a small shop which I liked. Unfortunately, they were very poor at communicating. They worked very slow and had multiple jobs going with only one worker. After multiple visits and calls to speed up the job, I gave up on having my boat for the summer. After 5 months of having my boat they called to let me know that they were almost ready to put the new console on and that they needed a check. I went down to look at the work and was very unhappy with the quality of workmanship as the deck was not level and the gel coat was put on with a roller and did not match at all what was there. They rolled the gel coat over my factory anti skid which destroyed it. They were not finished fastening it to the deck luckily because it would have broken the flange off of my new center console. After looking at the work, the owner told me that he had 81 hours in labor and $2,000.00 in materials in the boat thus far and that I owed $11,000.00. And they were not finished. They did not even touch anything else that I had asked for. I paid him $3,000.00 and told him that I would not pay him anymore. He put a mechanics lien on my boat and kept it. I called three shops which are very professional and all agreed that the amount of work done was no more than 20 hours and couldn't be more than $400 worth of materials. I also have found a character witness for the employees and they are not honest. I feel stupid for not getting a bid, but what can I say I though I could trust people. Lesson is Get a Bid in writing no matter what. take pictures before you have work done. I could have bought another boat for what he wanted to repair a hole.
