    Anchorage Midtown Dental Center
I called mid-morning after shopping around for a new office to restore my filling which came out the afternoon prior. I had a bad filling put in two months ago, and a follow up diagnostic that sent me home without any explanation of to why I was in pain (at a different dental office). Then my filling came out and I was left in even more pain and exposed pulp. I'm an uninsured 20-something college student with a pretty limited income, so the work that I have done on my teeth is mostly preventative and I have to save for each visit so I can pay in full. I was wary when I called to even get a foot in the door because the focused evaluation and x-rays would cost me $202.00, but Candace at the front desk said I could sign a patient release form and the doctors would examine my x-ray from my previous clinic cost-free while I got my budget sorted.  I called back and in several hours they had me seated in a chair and numbed up. They filled my cavity and I expressed concern that I would need to wait in order to have the cavity filled because I could not afford the total cost in full. My dental assistant worked some magic and I was able to get my filling done and agree to pay 60% of the rest unpaid bill by the end of the month. PHEW! They were concerned about the health of the tooth, and saving it from further decay and made me feel taken care of.  When it comes to service, the Dr. Tudor was very friendly and thorough. He was constantly communicating with the assistant which made me feel at ease (because in the last place I had this tooth filled, there was little to no dialogue). It also gives the patient a heads up on what's going on. They played Pandora and gave me a choice for tunes, and numbed me VERY thoroughly in the right areas so that I could still speak.   When it comes to pricing, they're about average. The filling cost me $272.00. Again, being a college student who works part-time, it was a little steep for my budget, but worth it when it comes to good oral health. They also offer Credit Care.  Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience here. Everyone is working together, and you can see good, positive support between the staff. I will be coming back to get regular cleanings and an extraction, and  turn this into "the one", after doing a lot of back-and-forth.

They did surgery in my mouth and it hurt like hell. I had three impacted molars. They were struggling with the extraction. I had my mouth full and they were shouting back and forth and I could not respond to anything they were saying; but they did not send me home saying just take some Ibuprofen and you will be okay.

    Yuknis, Dr. Birch A.
He and his staff made me as comfortable and at ease as possible. Communication amongst him, myself, and the staff was very good, as usual. The hygienists that he employs there, too, are absolutely awesome!

    Brandner, Dr. Craig J.
The procedure went well. The doctor was very nice and made us feel comfortable and at ease. My daughter liked him a lot and I did too. We did not have any problems or complications with the surgery. After the procedure, we met with a discharge nurse who explained how to care for the wounds. All four of my daughter's teeth were impacted. It did take her several days to recover. They said she could resume normal activities after three days, but for her it was more like a 5 or 6 days before she felt better. The only quibble I have about the experience is that they gave my daughter a prescription for a short course of steroids following the surgery. I am very careful about medications. My two older children had already had their wisdom teeth removed when we lived in another state. That surgeon did not prescribe steroids. I wish that Dr. Brandner had mentioned during the pre-operative visit that he would prescribe steroids so I could have discussed that with him. Overall, we had a very positive experience. I would not hesitate to use Dr. Brandner again for a wisdom tooth extraction.

The experience was great. He made my son comfortable with him and with his staff as well. His office was also a nice place and his staff were very friendly.

    Newell Walther DDS
I've been going to Dr. Walther's office for over a decade. In that time he's moved buildings and the staff has changed, but Dr. Walther has always been my primary dental provider. The office staff is friendly and easy to work with on billing and insurance. Dr. Walther uses up to date procedures and techniques, but not some of the very latest procedures, instead opting to wait until the pros and con's of these newer procedures are brought to light. For example, i recently had a crown placed: He ordered the permanent crown in (took 2 weeks) and painstakenly placed it with as much perfection as possible. Some dentists have neat machines that generate a crown on the spot (in the office), but in his opinion these are possibly inferior crowns. I'm okay with that because both crown's he's placed in my mouth have held remarkably well and proven extreemly durable. Also all his dental work has been well done (from my point of view) and has out-lasted other dentists' work. (Read: military dentists). As my family has grown we've started bringing my wife and children in for preventative and acute care and we are extreemly happy with this facility. My only complaint is a couple times over the years i've got the distinct feeling that my yearly dental benefits were intentionally maxed out to maximize income for his office. I don't have a problem with that, i simply allow whatever care i believe is necessary, and the rest can wait.

The experience was great! The provider conducted an initial consultation where they discussed procedure, cost, payment and concerns. The next day was the extraction which took approximately one hour. When my daughter awoke from sedation they assisted with her coat, provided a wheel chair for her and helped her get to the car. The provider provided materials, prescription and literature for home care. My daughter returned to school a week later and had no negative response to the extraction. I later called to discuss the cost and the receptionist took about 15 minutes with me to walk thru the cost and reason for the cost. She was very helpful and understanding.

Very thorough communication with the front office staff and the doctor. Sedation is used for the process and excelent followup instructions are given.

    Murphy Family Dental
I was recommended to Murphy Family Dental by a co-worker friend who normally doesn't like anyone. Well she liked this dentist so I decided to give them a try. I found my new dentist! What a great group. The only problem I have is that they are obviously very good and people know it so sometimes you may have to wait for an appointment. I don't mind waiting since I've had some pretty lousy dentists in Anchorage in the past! On the other hand, if it is an emergency and you are a patient of thiers, they fit you in quickly. Great people, great customer service.
