As with any remodel there  are small problems to overcome and Jeff and Mike did just that.  I previously had a downdraft cook top on a peninsula and they were able to put in an overhead vent hood,, vented to the outside, and it looks great.  They installed the new vinyl flooring and knew which installer to use for the counter top.  Same with the electrical, plumbing and dry wall.
Every day they arrived early and cleaned up before they left so there was nothing for us to clean up.  They always kept me informed as to what was happening.  The whole thing took about 5 weeks and it was worth it.
We are very happy with the work and professionalism of Chyko construction.  We had them replace our windows a few years ago and plan on having them put a new railing on our large front porch.

Kristiansen Contracting has professionally completed many home remodeling projects for us. Their prices are fair and they go above and beyond to make sure that the job is done to our needs. They have worked in a timely fashion and have completed all jobs in the time quoted. Professional quotes have always been presented to us before beginning any job. Jim has been very flexible and allowed us the option to shop around and buy or own materials for the jobs. He has been patient and understanding when materials have to be special ordered or are delivered late due to supply in Alaska being slow. I would recommend Kristiansen Contracting for anyone wanting to start any home improvement project. We will continue to use them for all of our home repair needs.

Kevin came out, inspected the work to be done (a small bathroom and only the bottom half of 2walls plus one piece of drywall to repair a small portion of closet) and said he'd have a quote for me in a day or so. After 5+ days I called him since he hadn't called me. Over the phone he gave me an offhand quote over $2,000. I then sent him an email and asked for a written estimate and he provided one. $2,300 -- 2 men, 3-1/2 days. It was twice as high as the next highest bid ($1,200). He seemed to be knowledgeable and I would have liked to have him do the work but not at that price!! I had another contractor do the work, it took him 4 hours to hang the drywall and tape and mud everything, and then came back a week later to do the sanding and texturing. One person, 8 hours. Total cost including materials and framing one wall was $700. I have all the written bids and it was such a big difference for the very same work. I've learned a lot from this experience! It's the first time I've used Angie's List and it came in handy to go through the process.

I chose to hire Hugo, the owner of the company, because of his communication skills and customer service-oriented attitude, and the decision really paid off. His bid, with the Angie's List disount he offers, was competitive. And while all the companies we received bids from seemed to offer basically the same material services, it was only Hugo that took me around the house explaining the whole painting process--power wash, chipping and sanding, priming, taping, paint and roll and paint again--and happily answered all my questions.
The reason I say Hugo's attitude paid off is that we had a bit of a glitch that he handled quite well--something that could have gone a very different way with someone less interested in customer satisfaction. The glitch started with us having the painters match a color we'd found at a different store. So, after the entire job was finished--the house beautifully painted with sharp lines and our house-side sunflowers left intact, my girlfriend and I (we hadn't been present when the painting started) realized the the color was either off from the sample, or that the color we'd chosen just looked quite different when it covered an entire house. We'd sampled about ten shades of light green, so we were quite particular on the color issue. The final product was more of a green apple than a moss green.
My first request of Hugo was to change the color of the garage door, thinking that perhaps the contrast between that accent color and the house body was accentuating the green. Hugo came out himself and repainted the garage door at no charge!
We decided however, that the body color was just not what we wanted. What do you do in this situation? Well, Hugo immediately took our side and began working toward a solution, reassuring me that he wanted us to be happy and that we'd get the problem solved. He took samples and pictures to his paint supplier to appeal for a poor color match. In the end, it seems that the Lowe's sample we had in the beginning didn't quite match their own paper representation of the color. I also suspect, however, that part of our surprise was simply our own inexperience with the difference between how a color looks on paper--and even on a patch of wall--and how it looks across a large space.
We decided that Hugo would repaint and roll another body color on the house. He took this on eagerly and almost immediately--with the Fourth of July holiday intervening. He came out personally to do the job with one of his painters, in order to save us on the cost of labor. We agreed that we'd pay "at-cost" for the second round of paint, upon which he also applied his ten percent discount!
Hugo turned a potentially scary situation into one easily managed, and made the fix very affordable. And this is why I highly recommend him to other homeowners. He has a great balance of professionalism and friendliness that really makes you feel like he has your interests as first priority. The final coat of paint looks great--as well done as the first--and we've come away feeling quite positive about the experience.

Work was not done by this contractor. The system wouldn't allow me to use N/A for quality which I didn't know because he didn't do the work. All other selections are accurate.
