Garage Door Repair And Installation reviews in Big Lake

Absolutely impressed with their service, punctuality, and the value received. Installer came by and went over door framing with me twice (!) because I wanted to make sure everything was exactly right for them. They even accommodated me to the point of recommending a cheaper door variant and installed twin door locks. The former was to remove the previously ordered windows form the door order and the latter was due to us not installing an operator at this time. Both were because the reason we built the garage in the first place is the thieving that is currently out of control in the valley now.
I would absolutely recommend this business and their services to others. We saved over $500 between the Home Depot door and this door and this door is of higher quality and higher R value (16).

Over the course of about 10 days, multiple people work on the project. However the young men that were hired for this particular project were considerably rude in leaving their cigarette butts on the floor. For non-smoking residence and farm, that is particularly disgusting and foul. Minor details but important details were omitted. The locks on the doors installed too tightly so they could not be easily open and close with the regular human hand. (This is still a problem on the 16 x 9 .) No ropes tied onto the doors to be able to close them. (it's okay control you need to find a ladder so you can go close the door ). The springs and the doors are so heavily set, they do not close all the way. We've been informed that once the automatic door opener and closers are installed that then they will work just fine. Meanwhile were still losing heat due to the gaps and both the top and the bottom, particularly on the 16 x 9 door. We were billed half in advance and then told that the other half would be due after installation. We called in and someone took a credit card over the phone but did not follow through and charger credit card. We were sent a bill six weeks later requesting payment due along with the late fee for their error. Calling them they promptly removed the late fee and then billed the final amount due but I was quite dismayed about how even the billing was handled. We have since called the Anchorage store to file a complaint which was promptly ignored. 'Dave' came out at the end of November and said that he'd send someone back out into weeks. It's now the end of February almost March. We have yet to hear back from them. Given issues needing a fourth dog door installed, (8x8) we opted to use someone else. One final an interesting note... Driving into the city of Wasilla last summer, a pioneer door truck proceeded to rally it's away amongst cars cutting them off to get into town faster on a Friday evening. It was just a few minutes past 5 o'clock. You can only imagine my dismay to see him parked at the liquor store on Bogard/ Selden about 30 minutes later, while passing on my way home. Hardly surprising given the disregard for people's property.

I had debated on installing the door and opener myself (I had build the rest of the house myself) But after talking to door tech it was clear they where experts at garage doors and when i got the quote for the door and installation I decided it would be good to have them take care of it all. Door Tech came and installed the door in just a few days and in just a few hours! Opener and all! much much better than i could have done. The door has worked flawlessly ever since until I hit the door on accident with my van the other day and couldn't get it to close, so i called up door tech and left a message and with in an hour he called me back and this was about 4pm on a Saturday! They came over like 2 hours later and fixed the door in like 20 mins! (I tired to fix it unsuccessfully for over an hour) Clearly these guys are total pros in the garage door business. If you need anything garage door related done Door tech is the best company to call period.

I called Sears on Friday the 6th to schedule an installation.  They said they needed four days notice so I scheduled the installation of the garage door opener system on Thursday the 12th.   Sears took my name, address and phone number and explained that the installer would call me on Wednesday the 11th, one day prior to the installation, to get directions and pinpoint a two hour long installation time.  So, the next morning, when I pick up my phone, I listen to two voice mail messages from Sears, both explaining that they did not have my address (provided to them the night before).  So I call them back and give them my address.  Wednesday, the day before the scheduled installation, the installer does not call me, as promised.  Thursday, the day of the scheduled installation, the installer does not call or show up.  At noon, I call Sears, telling them the installer did not call me on Wednesday, as promised.  I tell them I took a day off work to be home for the installer, and he has not called or showed up.  Sears called the installer ( I dont have the installers phone number), and Sears calls me back and tells me do not worry the installer will be there soon.   The installer no showed on Thursday.     Friday morning I called Sears and demanded to speak to a manager.  After getting the run around, I finally got to talk to a manager, and I explained my experience with Sears Home Services thus far.  The manager was shocked and sorry.  Minutes after I spoke with the manager, the installer called me and said the word "sir" 20 times.  The installer said that while he sympathized with me, that this was Sears fault, because he works for a subcontactor, not Sears, and that subcontractor has a contract with Sears, which contract stipulates that Sears must give them 4 days notice, and he said Sears dropped the work order on him on the same day as the scheduled service.  He informed me that he may be able to install the garage door opener system on the following Monday.  Well, the problem here is a miscommunication issue between Sears and the installer.  Sears blamed the installer and the installer blamed Sears.  In the end, I suffered for the mistake because I prepaid for the installation and took a day off of work to be there for the installer.  I make $25 an hour and work 12 hours a day.  Do you suppose Sears or the installer compensated me for having to take a SECOND day off of work so that installer could do the job he was paid to do.  Answer is no!    Beware.  This could happen to you.  You may as well install it yourself or go to one of Sears competitors like Home Depot.

In a nutshell - I was incredibly grateful to David Lord for delivering impeccable service on a freezing cold day when my family needed protection from the elements the most. I would use him again in a heartbeat. And I highly recommend him to anyone who needs their garage door serviced either because of damage or normal wear and tear. I hope this helps.

Delighted that they came with short notice. Initially appeared that the entire unit would need to be replaced but on further checking, found out that a simple replacement part fixed the unit.
