"Overall, I have a positive experience every time I go. The staff is friendly and discrete. They deal with my insurance company for me so I don't have to keep" requesting more sessions. That's very helpful!

"don't see Dr. . At first he seems available and caring, but dismissed me abruptly without an explanation. I saw him for 7 years. He" would flip through my records and say "have we tried this?" He should have known what he prescribed me all those years. I have memory problems, so I didn't know what I had tried. When he discharged me he had me on Effexor, which I later realized I has prescribed when I first saw him. Over time he would say "I don't know why you aren't getting better." I've since been told that anti-depressants are not recommended for people with bi-polar like me. His dismissal and my problems with abandonment probably contributed to my most recent suicide attempt. Now I am in urgent need of a new psychiatrist with "fresh eyes" to review my meds. In the meantime I am afraid of what I might do to myself. Also, the first RX he put me on was Lithium, which was the only medication that worked. But I developed hypothyroidism from it. When he heard this he jumped up and said "I can fix this, I have before." But he never did, and some other doctor told me I'd have to take thyroid RX for life. I kept forgetting to remind him to "fix this" as promised. Eventually (a few years later) he turned the blood tests I needed over to my primary doctor.

  • The catch is that to get the good care you have to put up her disorganized office and dismal punctuality. There have recently been changes in the office staff and the new people are much more friendly and seem more competent. I appreciate that she is very accessible to her patients and that mental health emergencies can't be taken lightly but I have a hard time believing that there was some emergency immediately preceding all but a couple of all of my appointments for the past ~18 months. The punctuality doesn't seem like regular "people run late and we kinda overbook" issues; she is not even in the office when I arrive for my appointment and usually doesn't even make it in the building until 15 minutes after my appointment time. I haven't bothered to change doctors however if I had known what I know now I probably would have gone elsewhere initially
