"don't see Dr.
Tampa Psychiatrists Provider Name Locked
. At first he seems available and caring, but dismissed me abruptly without an explanation. I saw him for 7 years. He would flip through my records and say "have we tried this?" He should have known what he prescribed me all those years. I have memory problems, so I didn't know what I had tried. When he discharged me he had me on Effexor, which I later realized I has prescribed when I first saw him. Over time he would say "I don't know why you aren't getting better." I've since been told that anti-depressants are not recommended for people with bi-polar like me. His dismissal and my problems with abandonment probably contributed to my most recent suicide attempt. Now I am in urgent need of a new psychiatrist with "fresh eyes" to review my meds. In the meantime I am afraid of what I might do to myself. Also, the first RX he put me on was Lithium, which was the only medication that worked. But I developed hypothyroidism from it. When he heard this he jumped up and said "I can fix this, I have before." But he never did, and some other doctor told me I'd have to take thyroid RX for life. I kept forgetting to remind him to "fix this" as promised. Eventually (a few years later) he turned the blood tests I needed over to my primary doctor."

"The catch is that to get the good care you have to put up her disorganized office and dismal punctuality. There have recently been changes in the office staff and the new people are much more friendly and seem more competent. I appreciate that she is very accessible to her patients and that mental health emergencies can't be taken lightly but I have a hard time believing that there was some emergency immediately preceding all but a couple of all of my appointments for the past ~18 months. The punctuality doesn't seem like regular "people run late and we kinda overbook" issues; she is not even in the office when I arrive for my appointment and usually doesn't even make it in the building until 15 minutes after my appointment time. I haven't bothered to change doctors however if I had known what I know now I probably would have gone elsewhere initially"

"My appointment went great. Discussed current issues going on in my life and helped me look inward to understand why this was happening and guided me through some methods of dealing with them.

Do's: Be open and honest, you are only cheating yourself.
Do's if you are receiving additional mental health care by a MD keep her updated on your meds. This is really important because some methods affect people differently.

don't's: Be on time, this way you will get the full benefit of your therapy session.
don't's: If your slipped back into your old behavior share it with her, don't hide it. When I have slipped backwards, she does not respond in a negative way, but instead she helps me to look at the causes, and how I should overcome them. My sessions have always been great.

"Dr. Pages is very caring. He explains things, he listens, and he follows up. He seems to have a good treatment plan. He is a nice person and we like him."

"She works well with elderly, but she can take others as well. She tells you the truth. I have been going to her for fifteen years. She is really booked so you have to make an appointment in advance. Although if it is an emergency she will do her best to get back to you. The office is clean and neat."

"Dr.
Tampa Psychiatrists Provider Name Locked
is very knowledgeable about medications and their interactions and usefulness. She is careful to get to know you before prescribing medications. She is very patient, is a great listener and is nonjudgmental. Her office,
Tampa Psychiatrists Provider Name Locked
, also employs a licensed social worker and an ARNP. I have always seen the doctor personally for therapy and she is careful to take her time and get to know you before jumping in and changing strategies. She also accepts Medicare and is NOT one of the run of the mill "pay before you see the doctor" practices."
