  • We were a long term customer of Northside Propane with no complaints. Service was good and we had a great business relationship. I noticed we were being billed at 5.00/gallon for propane and compared prices, to realize we were being grossly over billed. After conversing with Northside they nicely agreed to drop my price by 3.00/gallon. Yes, that is 3.00/gallon. I thanked them and ask for credit for almost a year of the overage in their prices. This request was denied. We no longer are buying our propane from Northside. My fault for trusting in integrity, their fault for taking advantage of a customer that let his guard down due to a trusting relationship.   • Pick it up, check out the vehicle for prior damage, sign off, and then get to work moving. Truck was clean and in good shape, nice a/c, ramps included to wheel up dollies. I have used them twice and would without hesitation again. Friendly folks.

  • The service was provided during a major remodeling project and we were not living in the house. We met with their representative and discussed several options for a location to install a large propane tank which needed to be buried in the ground. We were asked to provide a detailed drawing of where the appliances were located, which included the location of the propane tank. I was contacted and advised that the installation was complete and on my arrival you can imagine my surprise to find that the tank had been installed in a completely random location, not previously discussed. I am not even sure it is entirely on my property. Lucky for me I have a great relationship with my neighbors. I was told that there was nothing we could do now that it was installed. They have delivered propane to us for several years, usually every few months, and only once did they show up 1 month after a delivery and charged me a trip fee for just showing up, because according to them we did not need anything. Recently I needed information on the exact location of the gas lines THEY installed and they told me they had no idea where the gas lines are. They advised me that the homeowner is responsible for knowing where the gas lines were. The lady was very nice and said she would check our file and see if possibly there was a drawing on file. Ironically, she sent me MY original drawing showing me where the tank was SUPPOSED to have been installed. Oh we'll. I might use them again but I would NEVER leave them alone during the install so I would know it was being done according to my wishes.

  • It started off with them being very professional and competitive. The original rep who bid the job proceeded to do a horrible job by digging up the wrong areas, breaking water lines and refusing to bury the gas line deep enough to pass code until a county inspector came by and said that it would not pass inspection. As soon as the management learned of the fiasco that was taking place, they took action and sent out another crew who corrected the issue. They then deducted the cost of repairing my sprinkler system without any hesitation whatsoever. This is the reason I said that I would continue to use Suburban Gas and also the reason that I have already referred some of my clients to them.

  • I think that they are horrible but I have no choice because I have their tanks. They are so dishonest, so sleezy. Both times I have used them they tried overcharging me, anything that could go wrong or be dishonest they pulled. They didn't get a permit even though it is required by the county. They give you all these reasons why they don't. They lie through their teeth. They try ripping you off if you don't pay attention to what they are charging you for and if you don't ask questions they will charge you double what it should be. It's just really awful. I called the manager and he went through the estimate and it was less than half of what they were charging me. On my propane they have finally fixed that, but they have charged me $88 in permits that they have not pulled. They are just horrible. Now that they are charging me the right amount, the price is reasonable.

  • Do not use this company if you can find an alternative.  I just established service with them and had a gas line installed from my propane tank to my gas dryer.  This work was satisfactory except that the tech they sent was in a hurry and had little respect for doing a nice job.  However, other than a few extra holes in my drywall it works. 
    The real issue is with the billing department.  I sincerely hope that they do not overcharge on purpose but the scenario that has happened to me is almost unbeliveable.  I have called the company 5 times to correct this and each time the people are nice and agree that I have been overcharged but no correction is made.  They tell me it will be made but the opposite is actually happening and I am being continuously charged on my credit card.  DO NOT use automatic payment with any of your accounts.  The job cost approx $450 and I have been charged 5 separate times for a total of $1400.  They have told me multiple times that it has been corrected but every time I check my bank account another charge has been applied and no credit. 
    Additionally, be careful if you sign up for auto refill.  I was charged $4.65 per unit as well as some additional fees.  This is well over the going rate for propane. 
    My recommendation is to find another company.  I am in the process of doing the same I just thought I would alert you first. Good luck.

  • Terrible! Rep arrived a few minutes late, no big deal. We inspected and took measurements to provide an estimate and then he left and said he would email it later that day. 2 days later, nothing. I contact the rep and he says he will have it to me in a few hours. 4 days and another reminder later and he finally sent it. I can only imagine what getting actual work would be like.

  • Went to their website and submitted a request for someone to contact me regarding setting up service. That was 10 days ago and I still haven't heard from them.

    Followed the email up with a call to their local office during normal non-lunch business hours and got a recording asking me to try again later.

  • We were pretty pleased overall. We went with a tank we would own ourselves rather than leasing, and they were open to that. Their pricing was up-front and in writing, which we appreciated. They came when they said they would, which was appreciated given our tight schedule with completion of the pool. My one criticism would be that I don't believe they did a terrific job of making sure our lawn was level when they left. Wasn't a huge deal though and we never called them about it. We've been happy with the tank and gas service ever since. We priced two other companies and they were the best price. I would use them again.

  • BOTTOM LINE...BE CAREFUL THEY WILL GET YOU IN THE DOOR WITH AN INTRODUCTORY RATE AND CHARGE YOU MUCH HIGHER RATES ONCE THEY HAVE YOU. We signed on with Bay Cities in Jan,2009 because our last propane provider went out of business. We picked them because they were the most reasonable and they were near by. The Propane is used for a fireplace which we only use in the winter so we placed ourselves on a call as needed basis to save the company from coming out needlessly to top us off. We were doing this more for them so they wouldn't waste their resources. The following winter we called them...I thought the tank was empty...I assumed they would charge us the going rate for the propane. I checked the cost per gallon with other companies and even called Bay Cities claiming to be a potential new customer. In all cases the cost of propane was substantially lower than what I was charged. There only response to my complaint was I didn't use enough gas so they charged me more. They knew when we first set up the account that we were using it only for our fireplace and should have indicated that we would be paying a higher rate. Instead they did a bait and switch on us and we are afraid to call them again....apparently they can charge us anything they want!
