Hurricane Shutter Installation And Repair reviews in Tampa

It went well and was completed in one day despite the need for the workmen to stay after 5 PM. I appreciated the attention to details , even saving a small cross from the front door area where they also installed a hurricane shutter. Preparing the work area , clearing away furniture, plants, loose rugs we had done prior to the work. That will help them and is recommended. This company is great and in high demand. It is worth the wait. Patricia Mickler

They were extremely professional and helpful. Unfortunately we have a unique situation for which no product was appropriate for the window we were most concerned about. If we decide to purchase protection for our other windows we would definitely use this company.

Terrible. I was frankly shocked by the rudeness of their sales rep Jim Dell. Here's what happened.. I reached out via e-mail initially to ask about options for our project, including financing options (initially the PACE program in particular, which is a great program offered by the state for energy efficiency improvements). I received three separate, disjointed e-mails from Jim the next day with a couple of marketing slicks and references to possible rebates. Two of the marketing links were broken, and the third was what looked like a 20 year old video that was very generic and lacked any type of real data behind it. I also received messaging that they do not work with the PACE program because in his view it's basically a terrible program (which I would strongly argue, as I am currently using it to finance a solar project and it has some fantastic options.. including a 1.59% APR over 20 years option). I (politely) asked for better marketing material, as well as clarifying the incorrect information he initially provided on PACE, as he was definitely wrong fundamentally about how it worked. He again didn't offer any additional marketing material or useful information on what options we have, and again tried to tell me I was wrong about the PACE program, and again tried to push me to their 24 month in house financing option (.. I literally just signed a contract with them and know the terms VERY well). I then said effectively that we were getting caught up in the details, I just was trying to better understand my options, and asked if we could have a rep come to our house to review the specifics of what we need.. as we are not window experts by any stretch. At no point was I rude to Jim, I simply corrected some misinformation he had regarding the PACE financing program and pointed out some failed links he sent. After my last e-mail to him requesting someone to come out to review our options with us, he responded with "all the best with the project", as basically a dismissive e-mail. Considering projects like this can run tens of thousands of dollars, nothing I said seemed at all unreasonable.. I simply needed solid (functioning) marketing/company information, better estimates, and working knowledge of financing options. Similar to the previous reviewer, my experience with these guys was abysmal - and I was truly disappointed in how I was treated as a potential (serious) customer based on the other good reviews here. My impression is that Jim got upset that he was being corrected on something he was clearly not very well educated on - and then got defensive and decided he wouldn't work with someone who had the gall to actually correct him on something he wasn't clear on - or perhaps he just wanted to push me on their in house financing and refused to acknowledge / offer other options (even if they may be what's best for the customer). As a professional salesperson myself, allowing emotion to cloud your ability to work with a customer (however justified or not that emotion may be) is extremely unprofessional, and I was admittedly quite taken aback. I would steer clear.

This company gave me a quote on the spot for fabric hurricane protection , however the salesman wouldn’t leave any of the information other than a business card. Upon hearing that I had another quote that was less I was immediately offered a discount, however that was only applicable if I bought right then. Based on the way this was quoted I would not do business with this company.

It was perfect, it was fine. They did quality work. It was a short turn around. They helped me out because it was kinda my fault for going to them so late. They did the job really quick. They were done ahead of time. They quoted a week and they were done in 3 days. They were easy to work with and they knew what they were doing.

I still want to use them again. I want them to come back and finish them all. They kept in touch so when I am ready they can come back. They took a month to have the shutters made and then put on. The workers I came in contact with were very good. The area was very clean when they finished.

To anyone considering hiring Wind Mitigation Retrofits of Florida LLC. Please read this first and make your own decision. I found this company on Angie's list. They had an "A" rating from anywhere I could find a review. I didn't come across any reviews that said anything bad about them. I contacted Ron Cook the owner of the company for an estimate, he asked me to send him a copy of the Wind mitigation report and he said he would review it and send me an estimate later on that same day. He reviewed the report and found that is wasn't just a third nail that was missing but also the spacing as well. He gave me an estimate that was just shy of $2,000, he said his workers would be in the area and the could be out to do ours in 2 days. I agreed and paid the deposit. Two very nice gentleman showed up at my house around 8:30am and finished at 1:30p. They said the owner Ron would send the photos over to my inspector. A little while after the guys left I got to thinking that was quick for the entire house. I had my brother take down the soffit in the areas that I thought they skipped over to be sure they did the work I paid for. To my disappointment my suspicions were correct in the areas of my home that are tough to get to were skipped over completely. They only did the areas that were easily accessible/viewable from the attic. So basically they did enough to pass the wind mitigation inspection. When I contacted the owner to tell him, he said it was absurd that his men have integrity and they do not cut corners. We took pictures of the northeast side and the northwest side of the home where we pulled the soffit down to reveal these areas were skipped. The owner says he feared for the safety of his men due to my brother being angry and yelling at him. He said would not send them back out but instead would issue a refund. I don't know if skipping hard to reach area is a common practice for Ron Cook and the employees at Wind Mitigation Retrofits of Florida LLC and they have been getting away with it because customer are not following up to ensure all areas are completed to code, or if this was just a one off situation. Either way a very bad experience. I asked my wind mitigation inspector if he checks each truss and he said no he looks at what is easily viewable and assumes everything was done the same way. If you decide to hire this company please follow up to ensure its done properly.

It was exceptional. But there was one area that could have been better. On the upper floor there were shelves that you need to put the pins in as well as the bottom floor but they removed the whole shutter and although they did it on the second floor, they left the ground floor for us to do. I really wish they hadn't taken them out. Since they did they really should've gone and filled in the holes; but hey didn't.

original sales order had to be changed , no call from them about this. took longer than was told about product arrival , again no call from them.Wanted to set an install date when 3 days earlier I told than an exact date .re set the install date 4 TIMES. Not the most polite crews in the world  .This company is hard to do business with. They do not keep in contact with you  , the office staff is of no help when you try and tell them what needs to be done to complete your job and they don't communicate with each other, unless that is to put you on hold for 20-30 min so a NEW excuse is thought up. I feel they lie to you and will say anything to get you off the phone. and then 20 min later calling you back to change something that was just agreed upon , with the owner no less. If you enjoy dealing with  company like this , then by all means , hire them.. otherwise...stay away.

Great company to work with.  From the salesperson to the installers, everyone was professional, knowledgable and just great to work with.   The installers were on time, expedient, and did a great job, and left my home clean and without construction debris.  Love the windows.  I would do business with them again without hesitation.
