Bike Repair reviews in Tampa

  • When I first called they immediately said they couldn't help. They called me back saying they could help. It turns out the guy who can do the work doesn't want to do it. I don't mind them saying no, but they said no, then yes, then no.

  • What happened was that he didn't even let me unload them.  They were laying in the back of my Ford Explorer Sport Trac with a bed cover covering half of them and one bike was laying on top of the other one.  So, his ability to do and inspection on these bikes was severely limited.
He started in on the top bike informing me that he could easily see $300-$500 repairs on it.  He listed some of the things and made a fairly big deal about all of the plastic parts on the bike breaking.  Now they weren't broken now mind you, but he figured I'd be unhappy if he worked on the bike and they broke afterwards I guess.  Needless to say, I think I need a second opinion to confirm this doctor's diagnosis.  In short, I didn't believe him on the cost estimate done in the manner that it was done in.
The bottom bike he didn't do an estimate on so I have no idea what he would've assessed this cost at. He informed me that if the bike was in good shape, it would be worth about $75.00 and the tires I knew it needed were $100.00.  He also indicated that both bikes needed cables and parts were going to be hard to get and the issues went on for what seemed like minutes.
I asked him if he could just fix what was necessary to get them back on the road and he informed me that he would spend an hour doing that and the cost would make me just come get them or ask him to recycle them.  He was clearly not even willing to do an estimate to inform me of the costs to repair the items that were obviously broken.  Remember, that on the top bike, he cited having to replace a bunch of things that were not obviously broken during his inspection in the bed of my truck peering under the bed cover.
What was obvious to me is that he had no interest in my business and didn't want to even consider repairing my bike.  So, I suppose that if you have a newer bike that has a few problems he's your bike mechanic.  If you have a department store bike or an older bike that represents a little effort on his part, don't even waste the phone call or your time.

  • These guys at Bikeworks are outstanding. Great Service, Fantastic Price, very knowledgeable.
They took about a day longer than the other guys I used to use, but their service was worth it.

  • We had bought an older bike from a neighbor and while we were getting that bike tuned up decided to get my husband's bike overhauled. Jerry was so knowledgeable and professional. He arrived on time and was self contained in a remarkable mobile truck. After he tuned both the bikes we decided on new seats. Before Jerry left he explained what the correct seat height should be and watched both us ride the bikes to verify that were were comfortable. After all of that, we were so excited to ride we also bought a pump for the tires and bike hitch so we would travel with the bikes.

  • My poor Raleigh bike had been living a dusty life of boredom for a while! I wanted to make sure it was safe to ride (I knew it needed new tires) so I called Dr. Bike and she is now fully revived and enjoying life. Jerry did a wonderful job, explaining everything, and answering all of my questions. His love of bikes and biking is apparent and I was glad that someone that was knowledgeable and passionate was working on my bike. I learned much from the experience and highly recommend Dr. Bike. If your bike does not need all that mine did, a regular tune up is $65. The best thing is that his set-up is completely mobile so he comes right to your home! His trailer has everything and more to take care of your bike and the rider. Soon he will have a short DVD that the customer to view while he is working on their bike.

  • I made my appointment on his website. He responded to my email and came during the time frame I made the appointment. My bike was propped up on a hitch behind his truck for inspection. He made the necessary adjustments and charged me only for the service call. It saved me the time and effort of looking for and going to a bike store.

  • They were very nice and the service was very good. I just got the bike so I don't know how the service will be. The price was competitive. They took their time and were very patient.
