Business Description: We are Vollmers Tophat Chimney Sweeps and services LLC. We are family owned and operated and have over ten years experience in our line of work. We specialize in cleaning chimneys, wood stoves, Pellet stoves, dryer vents, Chimney repair, Chimney Rebuilds and stone work, Certified chimney inspectors, Snow plowing & salting. We also paint houses interiors and exteriors, build decks, drywall, Concrete, trim work and Cabinetry, Build Sheds and other General contracting work. We started this company as a passion because back in the 90s I was in a house fire and Received third-degree burns on 50% of my body. Because I woke up from a dead sleep and smelled smoke. I did not know my family was not home at the time. So I ran into my kids rooms Which were engulfed in flames already to try to save my family. After the fire report came in we found out that the owner of are Building did not keep up on the chimney upkeep. Which in turn caused the fire. So from that point on I made it my life long goal to keep families safe all across Wisconsin. And to make sure that not a single person weather your my costumer or just a stranger will ever have to go through what my family had to go through agin.

ATUFF SHED INC - North Chicago
I ordered a shed kit from them. They brought it up to Madison from Illinois, painted it, and installed it. I had to provide the base for it which was optional. It is of very high quality both in materials and workmanship. The door has very heavy duty hinges and steel reinforcing. The walls are built with 2"x4" studs. The roof is heavy plywood with long lasting shingles. The floor is also heavy plywood with 2"x4" cross bracing under it. As good as my 1st shed has lasted, I would go with Tuff Shed if I had it to do over again. They have a web site on the internet @ www.tuffshed.com

DGreenline Construction, Inc.
The work done by Greenline Construction was below average. Blake took 7 weeks to do 3 weeks of work. Blake missed 3 construction deadlines. The bid was $8,200 and he wanted $11,000. We gave him $10,000. Blake did not finish the work and told me, "Get someone else to finish the job," and left my property. I now have to hire someone else to complete the job at additional costs to me.

Last spring Andy replaced some rotten siding and trim, scraped, sanded, primed and painted the exterior of a small garage. When he was done with that he built two custom shed style doors installed them and fixed the window on the side of garage.

ASTEVE MARX CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN
Marx brought his equipment to site and demoed 3 shed buildings. He placed the remains in dumpsters and removed the foundations and leveled the area out. He was on time and on budget. My only suggestion would be that he have required me to remove the windows to elimate the broken glass.

AFelt Remodeling LLC
Tim gave me an estimate that was comparable to other workers that I interviewed. He did the work in a timely fashion and it looked far better than I imagined it could. He was punctual and careful and did superb work. When we encountered something unforseen, he informed me immediately, talked to me in terms I could understand and recommended solutions that were very reasonable. I found him easy to work with and he was very willing to adapt to the schedules and requirements of other workers who were working in the house at the same time. I will call him first for any future remodeling or carpentry needs. I found him to be an honest, very capable and resourceful person.

FWaunakee Remodeling
Overall it went very badly. We paid way too much for the remodeled room. The best part was the flooring which was installed by another sub-contracted company. The worst part was the electricity also installed by a sub-contractor and the front steps and gate which were made with poor materials. We've had the gate lock fixed now more than three times. The front door had to be fixed at least once. The steps wobble when we lean on them and the gate seems like it will fall over any day. The shed is nice. Within weeks after the pipes were installed for the sink and toilet our pipes froze. When we called the contractor there was little concern. We did not get a call back for days. The plumbing also was done by a sub-contractor and that too was a great job. Someone else had to come back, however, and insulate the pipes. There should not have been so many call backs and so much waiting for responses.

ALet Mikey Do It
Mike and Chris worked for more than four days on my place, granted not both at the same time although they overlapped quite a bit. It was a real pleasure to interact with them. I believe that they did a great job and the price was reasonable. They ordered missing/broken parts and tried to save us money. Although i paid them before some loose ends were taken care of, they came back and wrap up the entire job. Overall, a very good experience. As i told Mike, when I need help i'll call him again.  Great job done by two nice people. Thank you, Mike and Chris.

CHAVER DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION INC
It didn't go well, although it was not all Haver Design's fault. The architect was delayed until September in getting plans together, and in October Haver Design said they could build the porch and addition before winter and were in a rush to get going.  They said they could move the shed out of the way so that a new cement floor could be placed underneath.  In November they moved ahead with the architect to have the project split into two phases to speed up obtaining the permits while we worked on the rest of the details. They scheduled a start on the foundation before we had even gone over the plans with the architect or had even signed a contract with them or compared them with the two other contractors we were talking to, for that matter. Once they started (by then early December), the shed turned out to be too heavy for them to move as planned, and they ended up partially crushing it between a bobcat on one side and a heavy backhoe that they ran across our front yard leaving deep ruts and cracking our brick patio. While constructing the framing for the foundation they had to make several changes on the fly before the cement could be poured, because details had not been adequately discussed between us, the architect and them, and then the building inspector did not approve the changes.  When the cement was finally poured, a winter snowstorm blew in and buried the warming blankets stopping the project until spring. We finally got the contract after the fact and paid the bill after removing the items that they didn't get to. (In the spring after frequent requests to have the warming blankets removed, K&M, the subcontractor, finally removed the blankets and revealed an ugly muddied blanket pattern completely covering the cement patio and floors. They promised to fix it, but it hasn't happened yet. Also over the winter the concrete step down from the porch floor outside the back door filled with snow and water and leaked into the house. Haver came out and put a tent over the door which slowed down, but didn't stop, the water from coming in and soaking our carpet. In the meantime we worked with the architect to modify the plans to change the new screen porch to a 3-season porch to protect the back door in the future, and to swap out the old windows for new ones in the remodel on the second floor.  Haver, rightly so, wanted to revise the contract to reflect these changes. The revised contract seemed higher than we expected, and while we were in the process of trying to discuss these changes, Tom Haver would not answer our calls and emails and then abruptly told the architect that he could no longer finish the project because he had too many other "signed" projects already going... and then left us in the lurch to find somebody else who wasn't too busy to finish our project.  Needless to say it took months to get new contractors lined up, and the project is still not complete one year later, and the landscaping won't be done now until next spring.
