Business Description: We manufacture Advanced Energy Panels (AEPs). AEPs are a retrofit for historic windows or any window people can't afford or don’t wish to replace. AEPs are interior window insulating panels and can be installed in any building –office, home or industrial. AEPs have a higher insulation and air sealing rating and provide greater comfort than most replacement windows, yet they are a fraction of the cost. AEPs are custom made to fit over existing openings, protecting, preserving and improving your existing windows.

Recent Review: They leak like crazy but I could not get the installer to test for air leakage. They said there was nothing else they could do. A year ago I thought I would try again so I went directly to the manufacturer, Vista Windows. I have spent the last year trying to get assistance from them. They sent out a service rep but he said they were installed correctly. However, they still leak. They will do nothing to solve this situation. They will not refund any of my money and this company has terrible customer service. I'm hoping to save someone else the agony that we have had to go through. I don't see how this company can continue to take people's money and not give them somewhat of a decent product.

Reviews in Sullivan to Install Bay Window

AMad City Windows & Baths
The entire process with Mad City Windows and Bath was very easy, yet thorough. The salesman came to our house and was very professional. He pointed out features of Mad City Windows that were lacking on other windows that we were considering. He took window measurements to arrive at a price that I feel that the price was very competitive. Once I signed a contract, an installer came to the house to measure again and verify initial measurements. They follow the professional standard of measure twice, cut once. The windows were expected to take 8 – 10 weeks to arrive, and they took less time than the estimate and arrived in 6 weeks. The installers that arrived to install the windows were very professional and did an excellent job. The new windows were a bit larger than the original so that necessitated trimming the siding on all four sides a little bit. They did it so well that you couldn’t tell where they trimmed. They cleaned up thoroughly both inside and outside when they were finished. The new windows operate so well compared to the old windows that we regret not having Mad City Windows installed in the first place! Excellent product. Professional staff. Timely delivery. Competitive prices. What more could anyone ask?

AMad City Windows & Baths
We recently had two windows installed in our home. This was our first time hiring anyone to do a home improvement project, as we are normally DIY-ers. I was initially turned off by the pushy sales people at Wal-Mart, but we decided to go ahead with the in-home estimate anyway. The salesman who came out to our house was extremely polite and knowledgeable, not pushy at all. He gave us helpful product recommendations and we decided to replace two of our old windows with triple pane ones from Mad City. We had a follow-up visit with a man who came and measured our windows to make sure everything was correct before they were ordered and custom made. The man who installed the windows was very nice and thourough, making sure to clean up everything and answer any questions we had. We are very happy with our experience, and planning to replace more windows little by little.

This was an awesome experience!! We really enjoyed having Madcity Windows come into our house. The installers were very professional and yet fun to be around. You can just tell they knew what they were doing and it went so fast. We had all the windows in our house replaced and the old Windows were replaced before we knew it. Literally, we had 8 windows replaced with one to go in about one hour. Jim, the foreman, had 40 years experience with just installing windows. I am disabled now, but I used to build high end quality homes, and I am very impressed with their quality and skills. It was a pleasure. Oh and they followed up the next day, fixed an order mistake, and made sure we are happy. A++++ all l the way through the experience.

Overall, very good. The salesperson was accommodating and knowledgeable. Measurer was friendly and competent. Several incentives were given (Starbucks gift card for scheduling quote, restaurant gift card upon purchase. Unfortunately, gift card for restaurant was worthless - nowhere we'd want to eat. That seems slimy. Sales said they could do a Saturday install but when they called to actually schedule, office said they don't do Saturday installs. Told me how they have to pay the installers more, etc ... not my issue. When Saturday install was scheduled, the installer canceled after we had been waiting for him to arrive (said it was an emergency but regardless, we had removed shades and curtains and moved furniture) and wanted to come back on Sunday. Overall the work done was good and as expected. If there were options for outside trim color, we weren't offered any - it's white and looks okay but wish it blended better. Obviously, replacement windows. The screens seem flimsy so I hope they hold up. Windows are easy to remove and clean. We have new windows. They are better than the ones that rotted out and these will not do that. However, it's wasn't the most positive experience for as much money as we spent.

I CALLED THE # IN THE PAPER, SCOTT SET A TIME THAT WEEK (NEXT DAY) TO COME BY AND TALK TO ME ABOUT WINDOWS. HE WAS THERE AT LEAST 5 MIN BEFORE OUR TIME (ON TIME, A BIG PLUS) AND HAD A SAMPLE TO SHOW ME. I REALLY WANTED 3 PANE (LAYERS) OF GLASS FOR MAX-EFFICIENCY AND HE HAD JUST THAT! I DO NOT HAVE MANY WINDOWS, BUT THE ONES I HAVE I WANT THE BEST THAT I CAN GET. I LIKED THE PRICE AND WAS IMMEDIATELY SOLD ON THE WINDOW. WE HAD A DAY SET IN DECEMBER TO DO THE WINDOWS THAT WE AGREED ON. IT WOULD TAKE 1 DAY. MUCH TO OUR DELIGHT, HE CALLED AND OFFERED TO BUMP US UP SINCE THEY WERE GOING TO BE IN MY AREA ON A LARGER JOB. THE GOOD THING IS IT WAS NEARLY 1.5 MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. INSTEAD OF A DECEMBER INSTALL (WISCONSIN WINTER), IT WAS AT THE END OF OCTOBER. WE AGREED AND THEY CAME TO OUR HOUSE ON TIME, DID A GREAT JOB AND I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE WORKERS HE HAD WORKING FOR HIM. NOT YOUR EVERYDAY CONSTRUCTION WORKER. THE TWO WORKERS WERE A VERY PROFESSIONAL FATHER/SON TEAM THAT I COULD TRUST ALONE IF NEED BE. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER TO SEE THAT I MADE A WISE CHOICE IN THE LARGE PURCHASE I MADE. 2.5 YRS LATER, I STILL CAN NOT TELL ENOUGH PEOPLE HOW THEY NEED TO CHECK THIS COMPANY OUT. WITH ALL OF THE OFFERS OF "ANY WINDOW $3...INSTALLED" (KIDDING) YOU SEE OUT THERE, IT IS NICE TO SEE SOME STILL VALUE QUALITY WORKMANSHIP, PROFESSIONALISM AND A QUALITY PRODUCT. THANK YOU SCOTT FROM EVERYDAY EXTERIORS, MADISON!

ACapitol Roofing USA
I live in Wisconsin and needed to find a roofer in DC to replace the original roof on my father's (expensive) house. I have a good deal of contracting experience and have done residential roofing myself. I used Angie's list to find 4 roofers, from whom I got bids. When I called Capitol Roofing, I spoke with Marcus Silva, who went over in great detail with me what needed to be done. The job was difficult for a number of reasons. The house is off the road and it is impossible to get either a lift or a dumpster next to the house. This means that all debris from the tear-off and the shingles for installation all have to be hand carried. Second, the original roof was covered with ceramic tile, extremely heavy and very brittle, requiring great care in its removal. In addition to the ceramic tile, there were "normal" shingles, damaged tin, rotted cedar shakes on the dormers, and a small copper roof over a bay window in the rear. I was impressed with the detail in the bidding process, as well as the questions they asked. I received a detailed bid via e-mail, complete with a schematic of what would be replaced, as well as a number of photos of the existing problem areas. I accepted the bid, knowing that a few additional expenses would be necessary, depending on what we found in terms of fascia condition, etc. The job went smoothly. Capitol had a manager assigned to the job. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable and detail-oriented. When we took a good look at the dormers, we found that the sills of the windows had rotted and that the window frames were damaged. Kevin personally replaced the wood and installed new windows (at an agreed-upon additional cost). Weather was a continuing problem but Kevin kept me up-to-date on the schedule. He also dealt with my father, explaining in detail what needed to be done and why. I am very satisfied. As to the expense, I knew going in that to do the job correctly, it would cost. I got a total of 4 bids and Capitol's was one of the 2 smack dab in the middle. The work is not cheap but the quality of the work, the nature of the materials, and the logistics involved made the project a good value.

DClear Choice USA Windows
We Purchased windows in December 2010, the service provider, Scott Gradel Sr. sent a personal friend, not employee of the business.  We wanted to use our old storm windows, the man that Mr. Gradel sent did not know anything and said he would find out. he was on the phone several times during the consultation trying to figure out details because he didn’t know the product. When they came out to install the windows, the Storm windows that were on our house, we were told they would not fit, and they set them to the side. Since the installation, there has been a lot of air leakage, we were told that it was because we purchased double pane windows, and not triple pane windows. We were told that we could get a good deal on the triple pane windows through the company that Mr. Gradel used, the original estimate was $30 a window. After talking with the company it ended up being the original price of the windows. We have 29 window in the house to replace, 16 were actually replaced by Mr. Gradel. the only resolution had to our not being satisfied with the windows was to offer us a reduced price on replacing the remaining 13 windows. After spending the winter observing how the windows performed, we did not take him up on his offer and considered that we had wasted our money. After talking to a contractor about yet more new windows he suggested talking to the manufacturer. That did not result in any satisfaction at all. I tried going to the BBB to get some help.  Mr. Gradel stated that the windows were in good shape and we were pleased with the windows. If we were happy with the windows and happy with the replacement price, we would have accepted the offer to purchase the rest of the windows. However we were not satisfied. The windows were worse than we originally thought. The triple pain would not have helped, the weather stripping was not sufficient and unsatisfactory. I  called Mr. Gradel to come out, he came out and assessed the windows and agreed that there was an air leak. He put in some foam weather strip in the center of the sashes. This did not solve the problem. The air leakage on a windy day was very bad. I called to asked him to bring a smoke machine so he could see the extent of the leakage. This never happened.  After that we attempted to call him several times and he never came out. A year ago we started replacing windows again. The contractor saw the air leakage and confirmed to us that it was indeed bad. Mr Gradel stated that he was out of business and no longer involved with the windows. The BBB did not have any sucess in helping us, nor did the Attorney Generals Office for the State of Wisconsin. My hope is that enoug people see this report and the company quits selling bad windows.
