Recent Review: One day due to rain, to prevent the sealer from washing off. Great Job filling the cracks with tar, wire brushing & flaming the driveway edges, and applying the sealant (with Si sand) by brush.

Recent Review: The service went fine. My husband didn't like the fact that there was a seam in the middle. They came out and explained that, because it is a wide driveway, there has to be a seam. They extended the warranty.

MUDTeCH LLC
Recent Review: The guys showed up unexpected due to a miscommunication. However, it turned out great. They have this infrared heat unit that melts the asphalt and then they rake it and add new stuff and roll it and it looks just like new. Our garage floor was several inches higher than our asphalt driveway and had big openings that would allow rain and snow to get in. I was afraid that with winter coming the stuff would freeze in there and the end result would be our garage floor heaving. MUDtech showed up and heated the asphalt, filled the holes with asphalt and pounded it down in. They smoothed out the approach and rolled it. It is beautiful sloping approach now instead of a big bump. The other area was a low spot with the asphalt all broken out. They heated the area, raked it out, added some new asphalt and rolled it smooth. Looks like new. I have a couple more cracked areas that I will have them do next year. This was better than sliced bread and I am really happy with the outcome. Thanks to Steve and the MUDtech crew.

Merit Asphalt
Award 2018Super Service Award
Recent Review: Last year Merit Asphalt patched a 10 X 10 foot area that was in bad condition. There were areas that were raised above the rest of the driveway, and also areas that were completely worn away down to the dirt. The repair job was done perfectly. After a year it still looks perfect. I am very happy with the quality and price of the job.

Everything went smoothly from start to finish.  Scheduling was flexible, but mostly depends on weather.  Driveway was sealed, cracks filled; all looks good.  We have a very long driveway and the job was completed quickly and looks good.  Should last about 2 years.

Everything was excellent. He had done work for a neighbor and it looked so good I had mine done. I asked how often I needed this done and he told me it would need to be done every other year. He didn't try to take advantage of me by telling me it needed to be done every year.

I have a fairly large asphalt area. Parts of the area is in good condition but others is in relatively poor condition with what they classify as checkering and alligatoring. They first go over the major cracks with a hot crack filler then over the whole area with a spray-on sealer. They did a very good job on the major cracks but there is one area that is pretty much checkering cracked that didn’t get crack filler. I would have been willing to pay a little more to get this area covered with the hot crack filler. This area is well covered with the sealer material but I don’t know how well it will last long term. This is the only issue that keeps me from giving it a perfect score. They did a good, clean job around the edges. They were prompt and called ahead before starting the job. This is the second time I used thier services and wouldn't hesitate to call them again. I have had other companies do this work before with much worse results.

Add on Angie's List states senior discounts. Dean called with estimate (using Google or some internet site, never came to house) and said it would be his minimum of $190. I told him then that I was a senior and he said .. it would not apply since it was a minimum rated job. Why then do they state they offer a senior discount .. he quoted the price and then I told him I was a senior. This is the most I have ever paid for a simply driveway sealcoating. I paid for the job in cash and asked him for a receipt. He said he did not give receipts like that. and quot;We are much more professional then just handing you a piece of paperand quot;. He said I would get one in the mail. Spots appeared on the driveway within 2 days of the seal coating. We had not used the driveway during those two days. I called Dean and he said it must have been his sweat droplets causing them. He said don't worry they will fade away. Today, October 10 the spots are not only there but there are now streaky lines stemming from the spots. As if it's running. No idea what this is but never, ever had defects showing from a sealcoat job before. Called Jim on several occasions seeking my receipt and wanted to ask him about his add for senior discounts. After at least 5 messages (the last advising Jim that if I didn't hear from him I would leave a message for him on Angie's List) he called. I asked about the senior discount and he said it was included in the price. I told him how the estimate process was done and the I told Dean about the senior age AFTER he told me the price and again, Jim said Oh he included it in the price. HUH? I told him I wanted my receipt. He said he would call me back shortly to get my address ( wouldn't you think he had it if his company did work for me?). He called back the following Monday .. that was sometime in September. I gave him the address ..... today is October 10 and still no receipt. I never paid this much for a simple seal coat. I thought well maybe, the most expensive guy will do the best job. Dean appeared to do a thorough job but .. when I pointed out some cracks in the driveway that I had patched and asked him to go over them with his crack seal .. he convinced me that it was not necessary since I had patched them already. Since then the cracks opened up ... my bad for following his suggestion. I told Dean during the estimate process that my neighbor would be having his drive done at the same time and would that qualify for a discount since he would be traveling to our area only once for two jobs .. he said it would help him but not me. He said and quot;no one is going to tell me how to run my businessand quot;. Lesson learned by me .. not all independent contractors are really interested in their customers. He was prompt to take the job but trying to get a receipt has been agonizing ... perhaps not so professional after all. I'll never use them again .. neither will my neighbor. My advise ... look elsewhere.

The estimate/quote that we signed ended up having incorrect pricing for the work to be completed and the job ended up costing more than budgeted for. Expressed concerns on many occasions regarding grading of work sight to allow proper water drainage. First rain was a complete mess, water and soil washed over the driveway. One end of the culvert that went under the driveway was buried under the driveway, contributing to water dilemma. No shoulder was added to the driveway and there is a 90 drop off that we need to be fixed. Discussed this with Lee after "completion" of work and he pretty much discounted it without offering any remediation. In summary, the work cost us way more than anticipated and left us with even more expense afterwards. We would have been far better off bypassing the middleman (contractor) and going straight to the individuals actually the work. On a positive note, the concrete work itself was done really well and we have had several comments from others on how good it looks. The rating below represents an A+ for the concrete work and an F for all the peripheral items.

The estimate was done and mailed to me. I sent a signed copy of the estimate back. They called to give a date of service and instructions once the work was complete (ie, when could I use the driveway once work was complete). The crew came and did the work quickly and came back later to do a second coat of sealant. Very good job!

Written contract stated two and 1/2 inch asphalt to be laid. Crew removed gravel to place asphalt and I measured several areas which were less than 2 inches. Contractor allegedly corrected problem. Driveway is not level. Puddles appear when it rains. I pointed out an area where asphalt driveway was higher where it laid next to the sidewalk and I was told that his men did the best they could and the asphalt would settle. It did NOT settle.

Requested a quote in Feb. to remove existing asphalt driveway (Approx 17' x 40') and replace with new asphalt driveway - and add additional 8'x20' parking area to the south side of existing driveway space. Once the snow melted they had a quote provided by mid-March. Work was completed in June. Approx 10 days between removal of the old driveway and grading the new parking area and paving the new driveway. They dug down and repaired a small hole in the culvert under driveway for no additional charge during the removal/grading process. Renee was very good at providing timelines and giving advance notice of when crews would be out to perform each step of work. Showed up when they said they would, and completed the work as quoted and specified.

The provider responded promptly to my request for a quote and explained the need for some grading work to ensure the proper drainage of water after the installation. I was provided information on what role I would play, as I needed to clear the driveway prior to the application date and remove the wooden stairs leading into the house so the driveway could be place underneath. Installation day was seamless. The professional crew prepped the area and had the driveway in place promptly. The site was cleaned when they were done and within a day, it was ready for car traffic. Very professional and provide a great product. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others.
