Mike was on time. Super nice guy, very knowledgeable, and very good at explaining what he was looking at and why. He was efficient, clear-sighted, honest, and highly ethical. He had to tell us some hard truths about a property we loved, and his report helped us in decided what to do next. In the short period of time we worked together, he noted: negative grade (water flowing toward the home); insufficient support joists for an add-on to the living room; cracks in the foundation AND ways in which the siding was pulling apart in corresponde to the cracks; the deck pulling away from the building; an ancient air conditioner; electrical outlets that did not work; a miserably bad room with specific areas of damage; and evidence of leakage in the amateurishly added on loft/attic. Let me just say - this house was absolutely gorgeous, really gorgeous and on the surface beautifully kept. He set up radon testing a couple of days before. When all of this was done, he wrote up his report RIGHT THERE (he has an app for that) and printed it off for us from a printer he keeps in his truck. How cool is that? My husband and I have bought and sold homes before. Mike was the best home inspector I have ever worked with. When we find the right new house, we will be use Lakes Area Home Inspection again.
