The old water softener was originally installed by a contractor who handled a series of renovations to the property about 15 years ago. Needless to say, the original softener was a "budget buy" and destined to fail sooner rather than later. As expected, the softener began to leak, dampening the entire basement. It needed to be replaced immediately. We obtained three quotes (all from highly regarded Angie's List companies), and Northern's was the most reasonable for the quality of the product and the speed at which the job could be performed. I conducted my own background research on the softener they offered, and I found that their claim that the softener they offered was a "higher end" product to be true. Because I cannot be present at the property very frequently, quality and reliability were of paramount concern to me. The plumber arrived early, removed the old unit, disposed of the old unit, installed the new one, replaced some old pipes that constituted code violations (no extra charge), cleaned up the mess, provided new salt, set up the unit electronics, gave me a "training session" on the unit's use, and was out the door ahead of schedule. Overall, the experience was great--professional service, quality product, and rapid turn-around time. I trust Northern's work, would use them again, and would recommend them to others.
