Recent Review: Buyer beware! I would never use these guys again if my life depended on it. We purchased a spec-home from a builder in February of 2016 and Capitol was the company that the builder had already contracted to do the lawn. Since they were already doing the lawn, we asked them to come and give us an estimate for some minor landscaping. We ended up agreeing to have them do river rocks around the house, plant one tree, add three burning bushes and 5 roses. They were already, as part of the contract from the builder, edging with rock planting bed from the sidewalk to the retaining wall, lay top soil and seed and clean out the front rock planter. Per our builder, we were supposed to be at the top of their list in April or May, once they were able to do the work. We were having our driveway expanded as well, so they had to wait for that to be completed. I met with John on April 28th and had to email John 11 days later asking for the quote since I had not heard a peep from him. I sent the agreement signed on May 25. They did not start work until the end of June. They did not finish until July 14. They pulled the ONE person who was working on our house to help finish the parade of homes houses and lied to us as to why the lawn wasn’t being done that week. Our house sits on a .5 acre lot. The person who did the made a hole in the siding and covered it up with some scraps. I found it because I was walking around the house and the item covering the hole looked out of place. The scary mess up was when he hit our gas meter with the back hoe and it caused a gas leak. He never mentioned it to us, which is really frightening if something went wrong. We didn’t really even blame the worker so much. He was doing all of this work without a spotter and he was scared to tell the owners because of backlash and he was scarred to tell us because we would mention it to the owners. There was never any communication. But the most outrageous part of this company were the owners. They never laid black earth down before seeding. They told us that it was normal not to and they didn’t need to. We have more weeds in our rock edging than you can shake a stick at. If you scrape away the rocks, there is a ton of soil mixed in. They were fixing our flower bed in the front of the house and it was suggested by the landscaper to put in railway ties and move out the rocks. Not by us, but by their worker. We loved the idea and had them do it. We had so many issues with nobody showing up, that it was talked to on a number of occasions. At one point, the worker had called Tom and ask him a question, I can’t remember exactly what about, and with him on speaker phone, Tom stated that he “didn’t care what the F&%$ those people want.” The final straw was when Tom was supposed to come and meet with us to look over one side of the lawn that edges up to the neighbors. There was such a dramatic ledge at the edge that the builder stated that they needed to fix it before he paid. An appointment was set up and Tom failed to show up and even call. After that, we told them that they were no longer allowed on our property and that we would fix it ourselves, as we had done the grass. At the end of the day, they, Tom especially, were rude, unprofessional and delivered a less than mediocre product. We have had to reseed, weed constantly, and put in extra dirt to fill in the lawn so we don’t have a swamp. I recommend being totally cautious before hiring this company. I have all of the documentation to back all of these statements up as well.
