Recent Review: I had him come out twice and he did a great job both times. I had a budget to work with and he managed to get really good floors from him supplier and used his designer for the bathroom. It came out really nice. All of his subcontractors were excellent. He had a really good control of the subcontractors and every worked well together. Best of all, he was really great about working without being too noisy since I work out of my home. He also was able to get the work done quickly and was very  clean about the whole process.

Recent Review: The process went smoothly. Danny was professional, friendly, and worked efficiently and effectively, actually quite fast. He was willing to answer any question I posed and responded respectfully to questions and gave helpful recommendations. He came when scheduled, and on one day when traffic was backed up, called to let us know he was delayed and why.

Recent Review: The project began October 2008 and was completed mid-May 2009.  On the surface of things, six and a half months may seem to be a long time for this remodel, but it was a very complex project and there were also several changes made by us that caused the job to stretch out some over the originally planned completion of approximately three and a half months.  We wanted the kitchen to be enlarged by removing the existing wall between the interior of the house and the three bay garage and pushing the wall an additional 3-4 feet into the garage.  This required moving the hot water heater and the furnace to the other side of the garage.  It also required moving a weight bearing wall between the existing kitchen and the utility room.  This required supplying a new laminated beam for construction of the new weight-bearing wall.  In addition, we changed the design of the floor to ceiling glass enclosed shower in the master bathroom that required redesign and fabrication of a very complex shower enclosure.  These changes required significant time delays because of short notice to subcontractors.  All in all, we felt Skandia did a remarkable job of doing the complete remake of the kitchen, including all new appliances, a large garden window, granite counters,  cherry cabinets, new flooring, all new lighting, two new sinks, utility room and pantry.  Also part of the remodel included more than doubling the size of the master bedroom closet and enlarging the shower room part of the master bath and design and fabrication of a large floor to ceiling very unique glass and tile shower. The entire project resulted in a remarkably beautiful remodel that was very professionally done to our complete satisfaction and at what we considered a very good overall price.  We have received nothing but great reviews from our family and friends.  We were very impressed with Paul Olson, owner of Skandia Remodelers.  He did the design and oversaw the entire project.  We could not have been happier with the end results.  Paul and his workers and subcontractors were very sensitive to our needs throughout the entire project.  We would not hesitate to recommend Skandia to anyone.  We would be happy to answer any questions from anyone who may be contemplating a large scale remodel project.

Recent Review: They did an excellent job. The workers were very knowledgeable and courteous. They were on time. They cleaned the place after work. They would come back and immediately clean up anything that was questioned or missed out. I would definitely recommend them. We had a lot of bids and their price was among the best. Though it was a little bit expensive, it was extremely worth the money.

Recent Review: VERY WELL! Communication was superb and open: complete with floor plan change, décor selection from tiles, to cabinets and counter tops, flooring, paint fixtures, handles, etc. The subs did fantastic work and were professional to be performing their tasks in our home. Pavel and Polina worked with us as though our home was their home.

Reviews in Washougal to Remodel Master Bedroom

AC McNearney LLC
Over the years, we have used a number of contractors to remodel our home. By far, C. McNearney, LLC tops the list. The firm provided excellent quality work in the remodel of our master bedroom bathroom, completed the work on schedule, on time and within the agreed upon budget, and suggested very helpful design and product assistance. The project was a complete remodel of the bathroom that included removing everything. The shower was expanded in size with a built-in bench. The shower and the floor were tiled. The tile work done by C. McNearney is simply lovely. The grouting looks perfect. The shower was completed with a glass door. New fixtures were installed and relocated in the shower and replaced in the cabinet. Charles and his staff were a delight to have working in our home. Having a high quality remodel completed on time was worth what we paid. The bathroom looks great. We are pleased to highly recommend C. McNearney LLC.

AREF Construction
The project progressed very smoothly. I appreciated the assistance with design by Eric. I liked how Sean asked questions regarding decisions before he plowed into any aspect of the job. This demonstrated to me that this was my remodel not a cookie cutter job. Ryan was affable and very competent in ensuring all materials and work was done according to schedule. I was very impressed how the pre-project schedule was followed. The tile workmanship was excellent. The painting was superb. I liked the care that the sheet rockers took in matching my smooth hallway walls. This is not always easy to do. Remodeling can hold a bit of trepidation for the consumer. Through this entire process I was always at ease.

AREF Construction
We interviewed 5 general contractors. We were looking for a "Design & Build" contractor. Many contractors use a separate designer who charges you by the hour for design work. Unfortunately, when it is done that way you have no idea what your design costs could be. REF, (owned by Ryan Found) was willing to provide a design which his bid was then based on. The original scope of the job was going to be just the kitchen, but we also asked for a bid on the master bath as well. Before Ryan presented the bid he met with us a number of times to make sure he understood exactly our vision of the remodel. When Ryan presented us with the bids he brought Eric Goranson with him. Eric does all of Ryan's design work and presented us with the actual designs with the specific details, and CAD images. Eric came up with a perfect solution and included a few unique items that were not discussed but were perfect for the remodel. We kept each one. This work product was given to us before we signed the contract or paid any money. The contract bid from REF was such that it would allow us to remodel both the kitchen and the master bath.We also got a bid from the another contractor. The numbers were not much different than REF's. However, the presentation by Ryan and Eric was by far superior to the other contractors. We felt very strongly that Ryan was customer oriented and that he would do a great job. Since all down-to-the-studs remodels come with surprises, he told us that regardless he would make things right. (The only items on the contract that could not be determined was lead and asbestos abatement, and lucky for us neither turned out to be an issue). My wife and I have hired many contractors over the years but this was by far the largest project we've taken on. Once we selected Ryan, he presented to us the complete timeline for the project. Specifically, what work would be done on which days and when the project would be completed. He posted them at the work station he set up in the house, and we were told of any minor deviations ahead of time. He assured us he could complete the project on time and on budget (no surprises). Frankly I've heard that so many times I found it hard to believe, but Ryan's professionalism convinced us that he could do it. So the time came to write a check for half of the contract price. My hand started to shake and sweat built up on my brow. This was a lot of money and I was handing it over to someone I had never hired before. My fear and anxiety turned out to be completely unwarranted. Ryan was very hands on during the project. He has 2 project supervisors and at first they were both at the house. It was immediately obvious that Ryan?s customer-first philosophy carried over to them as well. However, it was Sean who was ultimately the supervisor our project. During the construction, regardless of the questions we had, Ryan and Sean took as much time as we needed to have our them answered. We've hired contractors for remodels before and typically once a project supervisor is on the job you rarely, if ever, see the head guy again. This was not the case with Ryan. He frequently showed up to monitor the project to direct Sean and the subcontractors. Both responded to my texts almost immediately, and all emails were answered the same day. During the construction whenever a subcontractor came into our house for the first time Sean brought them to us and introduced each subcontractor and their employees. This was a new experience for us, and it greatly reduced the stress associated with remodels. I even joked with Sean that he had become a member of the family (in a good sense). As the project progressed it became clear that Ryan was keeping the project on schedule, and that the work would be completed on time - which it was. But for a change we made near the end of the project, the work was completed on the exact day Ryan had promised. Another thing I need to mention is that whenever I've hired a contractor even the smallest change we requested turned into a change order and an additional charge, There is a standing joke that contractors make their real money on change orders from homeowners who once the project has started they see things they didn't like and didn't foresee. This never happened once with Ryan. While he explained any major change might result in additional charges, the other ones would just be considered part of the original contract. During the project we did ask for a number of things to be changed, but Ryan never tacked on any additional costs. Moreover, if we thought something had not been done the way we wanted it done, there was never any question. Ryan just had the change made. No questions asked. If we pointed out something a subcontractor did that didn't seem right, we never heard a word back. Instead the subcontractor returned, usually the next day, and corrected it. In the end, all of Ryan's subcontractors turned out to be excellent. There was a problem with the supplier of the semi-custom cabinets we installed. The cabinets were very well made, but aesthetically, the finish on many of the doors were unacceptable. Whichever ones we found unacceptable Ryan simply returned them for replacements. Again, Ryan did not question our judgement on this. He just took care of the problem. We never had to deal with it. His customer-comes-first philosophy is real and he followed through to make sure we were happy. So how did the remodel come out? Fantastic. The end result exceeded our expectations, and we feel our money was well spent. This was as stress free as I could ever imagine a remodel being. Ryan genuinely wanted us to be thrilled with how the project came out, and we are. We'd hire him again in a heartbeat. In fact we wished we'd used him on a family room remodel a number of years ago that didn't meet out expectations.

ANeil Kelly Company
This is the second remodel that Neil Kelly has done for us with the same team and again we are extremely pleased. Our team of Janel Cambell, Designer, and Dan Moore, Project Manager, did an amazing job for us. With a rough sketch I did of what I wanted, Janel turned the design and selection process into perfect reality and really worked with us on the budget. We replaced the vanity with beautiful wood cabinets and a granite countertop; moved and replaced the sink, put in a new mirror, tile flooring, new toilet, new sliding shower doors, new hardware and faucet; replaced overhead fan; replaced a bi-fold door with a pocket door; and painted. Jason, our main carpenter and installer was simply amazing, but we also had a few sub-contractors that did an excellent job and were worked into the schedule seemlessly. Dan coordinated the schedule perfectly so that every day something was being accomplished and in the appropriate order. This is where Neil Kelly shines -- the execution is spot on. Every step of the way was planned, completed and on schedule. We knew exactly what to expect from day to day and we were completely satisfied.and delighted. Neil Kelly is so thorough throughout the process and uses the best people. The fact that they were willing to work within our budget for the most professional work was icing on the cake.

We've used Terry for many projects over the past year and he's always done a great job - this one was no exception. Terry's professional, courteous, punctual and dependable. He installed our master bedroom walk-in closet system, hung blinds, demo'd our kitchen, painted, made and mounted custom wood shelves, and the list goes on. We're very happy with Terry and recommend him to our friends whenever we know they have a home project that they need help with.

FGREENVIEW HOMES LLC
Chuck Olsen, not Mark, was the general contractor. Very personable when meeting face to face. However, during the project, he hardly ever answered his phone. He estimated the project would last 6 weeks and it ended up taking over 12. Chuck did the demo and framing. Very few of the new walls are plumb and the drywaller he used did a horrible job. Many problems such as locating the built-in dresser drawer too close to a wall so that the drawer hits the door frame when opening, and the tile contractor having to float the tiles out over 1/2" due to not square walls. Two different sub-contractors contacted me because Chuck had not payed them for their work on our house and even started the lien process (the final payment owed to Chuck was much less than what he owed his subs). During this whole time, Chuck would not answer or return phone calls. Mark may run things differently, but our checks went to Greenview Homes LLC, so be very carful!
