Recent Review: Very knowledgable about all aspects of roofing. The team arrived early, laid out tarps carefully to catch all the roofing materials. Moved lawn furniture away from drop area. Worked focused and steady. Replaced the roof as well as old vents. Also removed an unused chimney pipe and chimney too at my request. A quality job. Could not ask for more. I am so pleased with the curb appeal of the new roof too.

Recent Review: Dave (Summit Homes owner) responded to a request for bid for the described work on my elderly father's house. He communicated very clearly and punctually. He identified alternative materials and scopes of work for our consideration. Once his bid was selected, he worked very professionally and respectfully with my father, kept him well informed and involved in important decision making. The projects went well, although there were some delays due to weather. The quality of the materials and workmanship was very good. We were very pleased with the outcome and would gladly recommend him.

Recent Review: Unbelievable - in a good sense! The team arrived on time (actually, a few minutes early - I wasn't quite ready!), ready to go and got to it. Each person there was obviously well trained and experienced as each guy got to work quickly and quietly without a lot of orders having to be issued by foreman. They had everything they needed - their preparations were thorough. Even though my home is not in Valley Roofing's normal job area, the only materials someone had to run to the store for was for some lumber to do an eaves repair job that was not part of the original estimate. They had it all! All employees were respectful of my family and home, their work was detailed and uniformly excellent, and there was nothing I had complaints about after the job was done. They left my yard cleaner than it was when they arrived! Because of a bat infestation (remember: 80+ year old house!) and repairs needed to eliminate the bats and keep them from coming back, I had my pest control contractor contact Valley Roofing ahead of time to talk directly. Valley Roofing made changes as requested by my pest contractor without complaint AND WITHOUT REVISING MY ORIGINAL QUOTE even though it caused them additional work and preparations. I think the most important aspect to the entire process was the manner in which the owner and crew treated me throughout the process, before, during and after installing the roof: professionally and with respect. These folks were terrific and acted as through I were not only their most important client, they acted as through I were their only client! I absolutely recommend Valley Roofing to anyone considering a new roof. You will be dealing with a contractor that has integrity, class and pride in how the job is done!

Everything worked out fine. No problems. They stuck to exactly what they said they would do for the price they originally gave. There was minimum disruption to the landscaping and we were pleased with the outcome.

It did take a little time to get the roof started (I’m sure you were busy) but once the crew arrived on site the process was seamless. I was extremely impressed with the work ethic by the 2 crew members that did the day 1 tear down and the 4 members for day 2. Which is all the time that it took. In 17 hours your crew managed to remove 3 layers of asphalt and one layer of cedar shake, re sheet and re roof my home. I have many strange angles to my roof and I couldn’t be happier with the professionalism, speed and cleanliness of your crew. They kept all areas clean as they worked and were very thorough on final clean up making sure no nails were left behind. As a father of 2 with 2 pets as well I appreciate this. Thank you thank you thank you. I LOVE my new roof. ~David Thompson

I called and made an appointment which was midday and I planned to leave my office to meet the roofer but I got waylayed and he finished the job before I could arrive. I could see ( based on the color) that he had replaced shakes in various other places on the roof in addition to the damaged area I was aware of. He sent me the bill ( which seemed to me like phenomenal bargin for labor and materials) with a stamed return envelope! I told the story at the lunch table and the stamp really struck everyone as a unexpected courtesy. It is now almost 5 years later and his work still looks great. I have no desire to replace my roof but will definitely call them when I need to.

AA1 Roofing
We researched several roofing companies before we decided to hire A-1 Roofing. My background as a Licensed Home Inspector gave me a more unique perspective of knowing what to ask and expect during our roof replacement. In my line of work I see a lot of shoddy roof installations, and was not about to shell out hard earned money on a junk roof. We had a really hard time getting roofing companies to come out to Ocean Shores and provide a bid. And we had a few that showed up, took measurements, and never heard from them again. We met Travis at a trade show in the convention center and he followed through with his promise for a bid. After comparing with the other couple bids we received, I felt that Travis and A-1 would be our best chance to get the roof we really wanted. The pricing was fair, and now that it is complete I can tell you they exceeded our expectations. They were one of the only companies that included ice and water shield in the valleys and around the perimeters for better protection against water intrusions. They actually hand nail which ensures they are not going to blow through the shingle. Metal edges around the perimeters... I can go on and on. Bottom line is they did a great job! Thanks to everyone at A-1 Roofing for a great job!

DMARTIN SKABELUND ROOFING
The major issue that I had not anticipated was related to the reinstallation of the gutters. The difference in the thickness of the roofing material thickness played a major role (which I was not advised of beforehand), but when I expressed my concern I was advised (by the company owner) that the problem was “under control.” In point of fact, the owner did return to address the problem that resulted as a result of the initial gutter installation by his crew. However, I spent the last weekend of September in resolving a problem I later noted at the interface between the gutters and the vertical downspouts servicing the gutters at the northwest and southwest corners of the house. At the southwest corner, there was only a single sheet metal screw holding the gutter to the transition piece between the gutter and the downspout and there was a large opening present in the transition piece. In point of fact, both downspouts were non-vertical and had been haphazardly reinstalled. Some effort was required to realign the downspout and to effect a more permanent connection between the transition pipe and the gutter and to fasten the downspout to the house. The most difficult problem occurred at the northwest corner, again at the interface between the gutter and the downspout. I had pointed out the skewed angle which existed after his crew had completed the roofing, but the owner insisted that it had not been done by his work crew. I did not dispute this statement at the time, as I had not actually observed them working on this gutter. However, upon closer inspection I found that the vertical downspout had been moved from its original position and that the transition piece had been physically jammed into the downspout. In point of fact, the downspout was plugged with debris when I removed it (I have documented this with photographs). Next, I found a major problem that resulted from moving the entire gutter about an inch eastward, causing the opening cut into the bottom of the gutter not to be aligned with the west facing exterior wall. I addressed this problem and reinstalled the various components so as to make the downspout both functional and physically stable. In total, I spent some 15 hours engineering and re-installing these downspouts and permanently securing them to the gutter and the downspouts. Assuming a rate of $50/hr labor for my time, the cost of addressing these downspout issues was estimated to be $750, not including materials. I am sure it would have been considerably higher if I had contracted the work out to a commercial firm. The quality of the work is hard to judge; that part of it which I could observe (the gutter installation) left much to be desired and left me to wonder about the actual level of competence of the shingle laying itself.

AElsom Roofing Inc
After a recent storm we discovered a leak in our roof. Elsom Roofing was recommended to us. I called in a panic as we were getting ready to leave on vacation in a couple of days. The receptionist was reassuring and had Scott return my phone call within an hour. Scott came out to our house (which is about 20 miles away) early afternoon and looked the roof over. He noted that we had some loose shingles and were missing 7. He said he had a crew in the area and would see if they could do the repair in the next day or so. He also gave me a rough quote of $150 to $200 for the repair. Imagine my surprise when Scott called about an hour later and told me that there would be a repair crew out by 3:00 pm. The crew arrived and had the repair finished in a half hour. They also explained why the shingles were pulling up and how to fix the problem ourselves before the roof became damaged again. To top it off, they would bill us by mail (received within the week) and we were given permission to pay after our vacation. When it comes time to redo our roof I will definitely be calling Elsom.
