Recent Review: When I first called Dan, we were still in the middle of the rainy season. Dan measured and gave us an estimate, and then we waited for the rain to stop. As soon as we had a few good days, Dan came out (over a 2-3 day period) and conditioned and stained our deck. Our deck looked terrible before Dan came out, now it looks beautiful. I selected a stain from the brochure Dan brought, but did not feel I had the time to get a sample, try it out and see how it would look. So I selected what looked to be a popular shade for cedar. As it turned out, Dan tested the stain on a piece of wood and thought it looked too yellow. He met my husband at the house and asked his opinion, and then returned the stain to Home Depot and got a different shade. This was totally above and beyond the call of duty, and we sure appreciate it! Thank you Dan!

Recent Review: They power washed the deck, taking a day to do so.....Its not a small one. After it dried for a couple of days of Seattle sunshine, they sanded the entire surface, including sides of deck, railing and around some rather ornate wrought iron attachments. We were flabbergasted!! The deck looked like newly installed raw wood. We frankly never expected it to be sanded to absolutely raw wood. Next they applied two coats of a custom mixed oil based coating. When they finished it looked like an totally new deck! Ubelievable!!!! The team was friendly and anxious to please. My wife and I are in our seventies, somewhat handicapped, and could not move all the furniture and plants off of the deck ourselves. By plants I mean a large Palm, a large hydrangea and so on. They happily moved everything off the deck and then returned after several days of drying to put it all back on the deck! Anyone looking for quality work should stop here!

Recent Review: My 10 X 20 ft deck was rebuilt by a contractor using plywood as the surface material. My contractor followed the instructions of the Weather Deck and Rail company and added a slope to the deck so it would drain. They did this by lowering the posts by about two inches. They also installed a high quality of plywood with a smooth surface so the vinyl would be smooth and the adhesive would stick to the plywood and vinyl. When Weather Deck and Rail came by to give me an estimate they brought samples of several weatherdec colors and I selected the one I liked best. They explained the process. When they returned to install the product Weather Deck and Rail made certain all nails were in throughly and the surface was ready for installation. This took a couple of hours as they were very careful. . Only when the surface was perfect did they install the material. My long deck required sealing a long seam and it has held perfectly. I am very happy with the result much better than a painted on product. It is easy to keep clean and has held up well. I do not have to repaint it or deal with splinters. It should last over ten years.

Recent Review: After a year of having our deck leaking to the floor below, about 20 different businesses coming by to try and find the problem, give us bids (up to $30,000!!! with no guarantee that the leak would be fixed) and then not follow through with what they said. Pahlka Waterproofing fixed our problem! Also replaced our failing wood railing around the deck. After having the run around and stress of 1 yr, I am happy to say Pahlka Waterproofing fixed our deck leaking problem and gave us a 5 yr guarantee!  We had Duradeck on our deck when we purchased our home and it failed almost immediately after we moved in. Pahlka was the only company to come by and know the problem immediately, fixed the problem, guaranteed their work and was very PROFESSIONAL and AFFORDABLE!!!! Worked with Dain and he was great! We could not be happier to hear the rain! Knowing we do not have to worry about our home being damaged!  They came to our home as needed to do each step of the process, very professional and kind. Called if they had any delays, called and came by if we had any questions or concerns, answered emails quickly, gave the bid quickly! If you have dealt with any construction type businesses you know this is a rare find! I highly recommend Pahlka Waterproofing for saving our deck, home and sanity!

Recent Review: We had four estimates in total and got Precision Painting, Inc.'s referral from A Better Roofing Company.  The other three estimators were not nearly as detailed enough in their estimates and didn't address the replacement carpentry needs.  Joe James of Precision was a total delght and very thorough in what the process entailed and might entail (hidden problems like wood rot, etc.).  He is a master at coating roof top decks which is important  in our rainy climate, they can have bad effects on area underneath (in our case, the kitchen).  He also explained the work was dependent on weather since the coatings require dryness for most of the process.  He kept in touch with us, waiting for weather to clear and was very responsive to our concerns regarding time line, clean up, costs.  The original estimate was lower but after dealing with unforseen problems - rotted wood and lack of insulation the cost was $1050.00 ( original estimate $7720.00).  more and well worth it.  IRC, Inc. built brand new railings wrapping around deck and better than original.  It took 2 weeks on and off due to rain, but completed job in a very timely manner and was always available to answer questions we had.

ATECHNICAL WATERPROOFING
TECHNICAL WATERPROOFING DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB AND WAS HALF THE COST OF OTHER BIDS THAT I RECEIVED FOR THIS JOB. THEY WERE PROMPT IN BIDDING THE JOB, DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AND WERE ON TIME AND ON BUDGET.

AWATERPROOF DECK CO
Several weeks prior to connecting with this company we had had another contractor remove indoor/outdoor carpeting and apply a waterproof paint. An inferior product and poor workmanship ended up directing water from the deck and creating a ceiling leak. The Waterproof decking folks came the day that I called to provide a bid, sealed the deck the next day to prevent further leaking, and finished the project within 4 days. They did a good job and worked around the activities we had scheduled around our daughter's wedding and our many guests from out-of-town. Update: Our leak reappeared and we again called the Waterproof Decking folks. They came out and identified and fixed the leak even though it was not related to their original work. Although they did not expect payment, we did pay them for this work.

ASeattle Propainting & Landscaping
I called Seattle Pro-Painting and had Sang come out for an estimate. He was right on time and very easy to work with. Sometimes the language barrier took a couple times to be fully understood but over all this was not a problem. Sang's estimate was very good as compare to two other Angies List providers, and based on his reports, I chose to go with him. I am glad I did. Sang sent over a crew of two people to pressure wash the entire deck...then a couple days later (after power washing dried) sent over a group of 5 guys to sand and prep for the painting. The way the deck is constructed there is a LOT of sanding that needed to be done and they got it finished in about a day. the following day they put the primer coat on and then later in the week two more coats of final. The deck looks awesome! Sang checked in and gave updates each day and also came by at the end to make sure I was happy. I pointed out two small items and he took care of it right then. I can't say much more - Sang and his crew were great to work with and their prices are very appealing. Call Sang...take your time to understand him and he will take care of you...

ADAVID M SOMMERS, DECKS & WATERPROOFING
Mr. Sommers responded to my request for an estimate immediately and came out within 24 hours. My intent was to repair and waterproof the deck, not replace the entire deck. He spent about 45 minutes walking the deck, taking notes, drawing sketches and developing a plan to deal with the waterproofing project. He responded with a bid in writing within 48 hours. There were areas of wood rot that needed to be dealt with and the metal railing from the deck needed to be removed and then put back on to properly install flashing. The contractor referred by Mr. Sommers did that work as well as removing and replacing siding shingles. I liked the way the two contractors coordinated and kept each other informed of progress. The final product looks excellent--very attractive-- and the work proceeded as scheduled.

A team of two showed up early for the job. Very professional. Introduced themselves, and then went into a detailed explanation regarding the processes to be performed this day. All things went as designed. Our new deck surfaces are fantastic! I would definitely recommend Premier Asphalt & Sealcoating

APAHLKA WATERPROOFING INC
From the first contact, Mike and the team were extremely professional, timely and went above and beyond to accommodate our schedule. They completed the work ahead of schedule, and we couldn't have asked for more. The specialty coating they applied after completely tearing off and replacing the decking turned out beautifully. Would definitely recommend!!

FNorkri Corp
The initial install was fine, but in less than a year problems came up with the top coat surface. Small pock marks appeared when pine cone seeds dropped on the deck and seemed to melt into the surface. Later, whole sections of the top coat peeled off exposing the waterproofing layer underneath. I was very concerned as this deck is over my living room and I did not want to have a breach in the system. I had Vince come out several times to look at the deck and to give me options. He took the stance at every visit that the issue was not his problem and provided no support or suggestions. I finally had to have another decking company come out and grind off the failing top coat, repair several other issues with the original job and put a on new decking surface. I then wrote him a letter asking for at least a credit for part of the money that I had paid him. This got no response. Next, I posted a complaint with the BBB (Case #22139807) which also got no response. Do not use him!

ASeattle Paint and Drywall Co
Tim Fike did an excellent job getting the deck painting scheduled, and his guys did an excellent job redoing my deck. It looks almost new now, and it's an old deck! It had been refinished several times over the years, and the existing color was too red and did not look good adjacent to my home's paint color. I didn't think a stain would work to cover it, but Tim gave me some good suggestions to go and see deck stain colors available at a paint store. That was excellent advice as I learned there were many more colors than just the standard fan deck of stain colors I originally saw. I found the color I wanted, and the deck painting work was done efficiently and professionally.  I waited a week for the deck stain to cure, and I'm amazed how my old deck now looks so good. I worried that my deck was too far gone to get results like this. One of the nicest things about SP&D was Tim's professional customer service and friendly demeanor. He was always polite on the phone, listened to my many questions and concerns, and gave me very good suggestions. He went the extra mile throughout. The results were better than I hoped for!  It's rare to use a service company that is so customer oriented and I really appreciated it.

Good. David came once for the estimate and then twice for the repair and paint. It all went very fast. David also painted an 8'x2' breezeway connecting the deck to our house for no extra charge.
