Recent Review: Lebron was fun to work with and the job was well done. He has tons of experience with beams. He charged me exactly what he estimated, despite some unexpected challenges due to my shallow and crowded crawlspace. Like all good contractors in Seattle right now, he is super busy, so he can be challenging to schedule. When he is on your job, he is on it 100%. I would hire him again for sure. The job was replace a load bearing wall with two beams and a door header. This required temporary walls and 3 new concrete footers in the crawlspace.
Recent Review: The team at NGL did a great job replacing our retaining wall, and we highly recommend them. They were very responsive, punctual, and professional from beginning to end, and they made sure we were happy with the final result. Holly did an excellent job communicating with us and checking in throughout the process. We are very happy with the quality of work and how fast they were able to complete the job for us. We would definitely use them again for future needs.

Recent Review: The work was started and completed in the time estimated and the team went above and beyond to make adjustments as needed. We are very happy with the result and would use Dochnahl Construction again.
Recent Review: Our best contractor experience ever. His bid was not the lowest, but it included all the details. Other contractors may give low bids with vague contracts, then come back later charging you for items you thought were included. Jeff doesn't do that. He is upfront and honest. When we wanted additional work done, he promptly created a change order document so that all the costs were known upfront. He is great at problem solving difficult requests and listening to a client's needs. His solutions are often beautiful, as well as functional. His employees are certified so that you can trust the product you get is built to high standards. He comes out to supervise his employees to make sure the quality is the best it can be. They were constantly redoing small things on the paving or walls or even fence so that it was the best it could be. We were thrilled with the results and I don't think there is a company out there that can beat his quality of work or upfront and honest pricing. If there was a higher recommendation than A+, I would give it.

Recent Review: Our neighbor's 100 ft Douglas fir fell during a wind storm and crushed a large portion of the retaining wall separating the properties. After the arborist cleared the fallen tree, A & J removed all the debris from the damaged retaining wall and rebuilt a new wall. The wall has two tiered wall and there are several planting areas. A& J was very easy to work with. The crew was prompt and hard working. The new wall looks great. We have had many compliments.
Recent Review: The job required building two retaining walls one above the other with the slope of the upper wall matching the adjoining cement wall. They removed some large roots from a nearby tree which had damaged the wood wall so that the new wall could be built. The job took 3 days which is what Ryan estimated. The work was first rate and we are very happy with the result. Ryan was able to make suggestions that helped me make decisions on what made the most sense for our job. The work team was terrific to work with and very professional. I have already recommended them to my neighbors.
He has done excellent work for me. He is very courteous, professional, easy to be around, and is very good at what he does. He was very neat and tidy when removing some wallpaper for us and didn't leave any dust around.

This company is great! Teresa helped me with many questions and helped me with information on all phases of the project (even things outside of the project scope) so I could make informed decisions. I was like having a team of consultants. Any questions or concerns were answered promptly - within less than an hour - and professionally. Craig and Alan assisted with paint colors. David is an excellent, detailed carpenter. No surprises, no pressure. We are so pleased with the results we have asked ASC to come back to do another project.

It started off going pretty well. Ron is a likable guy and fairly responsive. We had him visit and he wrote an estimate. We agreed. He did get a few details messed up but I was able to get them easy corrected. He was very personable and helped me with my garage door opener. He was on time and the estimate, although not inexpensive seemed reasonable at the time. The work that was done, other than the issue outlined below was good and I was quite satisfied with it. I would have graded higher in quality but the issue that came up was so big that it overshadows his other work. The same is true for punctuality and professionalism. At the conclusion of the work, I asked for an adjustment in price because his estimate had tile that was twice as expensive as what I chose. He refused saying that he was the one that picked them up so it was just compensation for that. I just paid it. Perhaps I am naive but it seems like a lower cost should lower an estimation as would an unexpected problem cause an increase in a cost estimation. The big problem was that we had told him we thought the old outside stove "cap" could be left in place as we were fine with two stove caps on that wall, rather than having the siding replaced and then having to paint the side of the house. When I came down he had removed the stove cap and I reminded him that we were fine with it remaining on the outside. Unbeknownst to me he just put the stove cap back on, LEAVING THE 5-6" OPENING BEHIND THE STOVE CAP TO THE ELEMENTS, including rain, insects and anything else. I would not have probably noticed but the inside wall that he repaired had water damage in less than one week. The guys who came up to put in my new stove were nonplused at this opening. They removed the outside cap and sealed it with metal and caulking and then put the stove cap back on. When I told this to Ron his response was he just put the cap back on like he was told. I just didn't think that I needed to tell a worker, who has 20+ years in the business what exactly he would need to do to safe guard the integrity of my house. In follow up conversations he said he thought this was unusual but figured we had other plans. Clearly not and a big communication problem that could have been resolved if he would have said. "So you are going to leave this open?" or anything to that effect, which would have clued me in that he was going to leave it open. Ron said he has a full year warranty. I asked him to come and repair the wall that was now damaged. He set a date and but needed to cancel. I understand, things happen. We set another date and he did not show nor call. I had someone else do the repair.

The extended new wall solved a slope problem where the tree-like shrubs were leaning over into the neighbor's yard. The appearance of the wall and fence is much improved. The contractor's suggestion to put the previous fence's replacement on top of the wall was also very positive. The new wall and fence are much more attractive and stable than the previous. (A minor point: some of the debris from the previous wall was not removed.)

It was a difficult job to put in a new soaking tub on the second floor where a non-functional hot tub had been. We spoke to a number of contractors and selected Nick Smith (Bantam Builers) for his expertise and suggestions on how to proceed. Nick came highly recommended by the bathroom supply store which sold the soaking tub. Nick came out on time, was diligent in doing the work, and did it at a reasonable price. His communication with us about what needed to be done and coordination of tiles, staining of the wood surround and electrical work was excellent.

Rodrigo and his crew did a wonderful job. He was very competitive on pricing and was willing to do the job, even though there were access issues that made the job more physically demanding. He was timely, completed the job quickly, and went above and beyond what I had asked for. I would definitely hire again.
