Recent Review: The whole process was very painless. The company is very professional and anytime we called or emailed with questions they communicated very promptly. We went to their showroom and picked the door we wanted which wasn't very easy because they have so many beautiful doors to choose from, finally choose the Pietra with kick plate. The salesman/owner told us about a new feature- screens so when the windows on the door are open we still have some privacy. We love them. We also wanted an additional deadbolt besides the regular door handle - no problem. We were told the lead time for the delivery of the door would be 3 months from the day we ordered it - and that's exactly what the timing was, we put in our order on Aug. 9th and the door was installed Nov. 11. That is an A+ in our book. The installers came right on time. They said that the whole installation would take approx. 7 hours. They were installing a double door entry and taking out our existing doors. They arrived at 10:30am and finished at 4:30pm with maybe a 1/2 hour for lunch. They did a wonderful job. We were very happy with our whole experience. We would most certainly recommend Universal Iron to anyone.
Recent Review: Mark was recommended by the company we hired to install a standard screen door as they no longer do retractables. Weeks later, I'm still awaiting my standard screen door while Mark came out within days of our initial meeting to install retractable screen doors for the french doors that lead to our deck. He was very punctual and professional. He even came out a second time prior to install because he wanted to double check something. He explained how these screens work very thoroughly and asked about pets to make sure we understood these might not work if you have a very persistent pet who might dig at the bottom of the screens and escape. Our cats are fine with the screens and we've had no problem. These screen doors make it that much easier for us to enjoy our deck.

Recent Review: Our elderly wooden double garage door finally stopped working, losing rollers and going off the rails. I called Performance Building Products for a quote, and received one from Aaron by e-mail the next morning. We discussed options by e-mail and he came out on the next day that we were available to look at the site and give us a firm price. He ordered the door and it was installed 8 days later. The door looks good, it was done in less than a day, and the installers cleaned up well. They had to do some planning and fiddling to make things work in our old garage. Everyone I dealt with was prompt and professional. I had quotes from other companies, and while PBP was not the least expensive, their lead time was shorter. I would happily recommend them.

Everything went great from start to finish. Ian and Josha came out and did the inital measuring then came back when the doors were ready to be installed. They did a wonderful job and even handled the unexpected problems that came up. Both worked to make sure the doors fit properly and were pleasant while doing it. Ian vacuumed up carpet in front of the door after each door was done and they cleaned up the area outside also. I would give them an A+ for a job well done.

AScreens For Windows & Doors
I am about to put my house on the market, and it had an old, torn, ratty screen door on the front door. I wanted to replace it to avoid giving potential buyers a bad first impression. I talked with Scott Knight at Screens for Windows & Doors on the phone, and mentioned that my front and back door both are nonstandard sizes. He suggested that I consider a retractable screen door. They are normally $400, but were currently on sale for $300 -- slightly less than the price for a conventional screen door. I decided that would be a good choice, because I had always thought the back door also needed a screen door, but because it is smack under the eaves, a normal screen door wouldn't have clearance. Scott showed up right on time and installed both doors. For the front door, he had to redo the framing (which had been screwed up by a truly awful contractor several years ago when my front door was replaced) . There was no additional charge for that corrective work. Scott also rescreened a window screen that had been trashed by my cat trying to catch bugs drawn to the light on warm evenings. The charge for that was only $20. Scott took away the old aluminum screen door at no charge.

DSound Construction & Home Maintenance
NOT GOOD. The first door they purchased did not fit, so they purchase another door which they installed. Before they had completed the installation of the door, I noticed that it was not a fire door and it did not have sprung hinges. (State Code Required) They said they thought it was up to code but when I told them it was not, they "made some calls" then admited it was not. (I looked it up and knew it was not!) I went to Home Depot on my own and purchased the correct (Fire Door with sprung hinges) and brought it back. They removed the door they purchased (which they had gotten for 10% off because it was flawed) and installed the door I purchased. The original estimate for all the work was $1800 which was to include ALL MATERIALS. I purchased the door myself ($261.82). I mention to Chad that I shouldn't have to pay for the time they wasted getting 2 WRONG doors and installing one of the wrong doors then having to remove it. AND I paid for and delivered the correct door that was installed. When I received the bill it was for $1750. $50 less that the quote if they had paid for the door! QUESTION: DID THEY REALLY LACK THE KNOWLEDGE TO KNOW THAT A FIRE DOOR WITH SPRUNG HINGES IS A STATE CODE REQUIREMENT ? OR DID THEY TRY TO CHEAT ME, THINKING I WOULDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER? They are in the construction business so I know which one I believe. NOTE: The original fire door had to be replaced because a doggie door had been cut into it. It was a fire door with sprung hinges so they could clearly see what a fire door looks like.

I requested to paint the doors so that I could deal with any imperfections. Glad I did as there was a bit of filling that needed to be done. He did install good screening and three heavy weight hinges. However, latching was simply a hook and eye. I wasn't overwhelmed by the quality of the job, particularly as both doors, especially the front door, tend to hang up on the door frame surround and it is some times hard to get them open. When I have time, I will sand down the small sections that rub. But, for $300,each door, he should have done that.

ARenewal By Andersen
Amazing workmanship by Vince C & Jesus today! They installed a French Door for us! They took the time to make it perfect and work. They put a brand new door in a 1941 home with lath & plaster walls and funky old siding. It turned out beautifully and they were so neat and clean about care of our home. Then they even trained us on how to use the door. We are pretty excited about not having to put plastic on the outside of the door in the winter to keep the "wind" from whistling through. (See the picture) If you look closely you will see a table cloth on the inside. We also had blue tape to hold the window weather stripping on the inside. Once again, Renewal by Andersen and a BIG SHOUT OUT to the Great job Vince C and Jesus! Totally recommend them! The price was rated a B only because, it costs a lot for the quality and workmanship of the door is incredible. You can't go wrong on this. Love the door! We will actually be able to use it during the spring and fall because we got the screens, too!

It took quite a while to get this work done, perhaps because of a part that had to be ordered. I am satisfied with the completed work and would use this company again.
