Recent Review: 23 years ago our neighbor Lee Mayz, who happened to be the owner/provider of Lee's Htg and Cooling, converted the original all-electric baseboard heat system to gas forced air furnace and AC. This required installing air ducts and floor registers on the main floor and ceiling registers in the basement. We were very happy with the work they did then. In the 1990s we had Lee's Htgand Cooling do the plumbing work during a major kitchen redesign which required relocating sink and plumbing across the room. Since then Lee's has responded to minor plumbing needs (fix garbage disposal, clear clogged drain line, fix leaking bathroom plumbing, etc). When the city sewer line backed up into our basement, Lee scoped our line with a camera and determined the problem was in the city sewer line and not our house line. He noticed that our line had no flush-out access at the curb which would make digging up the street to clean out the city sewer line our expense, so he installed a flush-out access so that when the city dug up the street to clear the line it was not at our expense. Lee and his son Allan have maintained the house heating and cooling system for 23 years with regular "check-ups" and servicing. The system was still operating just fine, but past it's expected "replace by" date by several years. It suited us financially to go ahead and have it replaced now rather than wait until it gave out in the middle of freezing winter, so we asked Allan to provide estimates of various new heating/cooling systems. Allan met with us at no cost to review 3 options including heat pump. We selected the system we wanted and signed contract June 4 to begin installation within 90 days (we were flexible about start date). When they started we asked them to relocate the AC unit to allow for future renovation project. This required several additional hours and steps and of course cost ($400.00 for drilling new hose and electrical access through basement wall, closing up old accesses, prepping new AC unit platform, etc). 2 workmen performed the work over 4 days under Allan's direction. They were unfailingly courteous, professional, careful with their work, and cleaned up after themselves each day. They were even careful to not let either of our house cats out the door each time they came through to work on the intake vent or install the programmable thermostat. They worked pretty tirelessly through a scorching 90+ degree heat wave in the sun to install the new heatpump/AC unit. Allan stopped by a few days later to collect the final check and review everything. It so happened that the system's water drain had clogged up during the night before and leaked onto the garage floor. Allan had the workmen come over later that same day and flush out the line for us. This would happen from time to time with the old system (the furnace is located quite a distance from where the line exits the the outside and there isn't much pitch to the line as well as no good way to keep the spiders and other small critters from nesting in it). They created a "flush out" access so we can periodically flush it out with a hose to keep it open. And a shout-out to Nellie in Lee's Htg and Cooling office who has been the one to call and schedule routine maintenance service calls over the years. She is always friendly, courteous, and above all knowledgable about the bookkeeping end of the business.
Recent Review: Air conditioner was not running. Service agent checked power supply from house to conditioner and found it OK. Then examined the air conditioner and found the failed part. While present, also briefly examined the base unit in the house. Said another person would be scheduled to visit the house and do a more complete examination as part of the annual service arrangement. Am awaiting that person's visit, but not presently concerned. Agent was polite and professional.
Business Description: Water Heater Services LLC has been in existence specializing in general residential plumbing for over 25 years, which includes the servicing of water heaters. We are a 5 time winner of the Angie's List Super Service Award! For many years, when a customer is faced with a water heater crisis, the customer calls a traditional plumbing firm only to find that the amount to repair or replace is out of their price range. This is because plumbing firms treat working on water heaters as a low priority and the business can sustain without working on them. Local home improvement stores have a less reliable brand name and known the work will be performed by subcontractors. We will sell on the idea that they are purchasing a superior product, only technicians hired by our firm will perform the job and can handle the permits (if required). Our prices are competitive with the home improvement chains, our technicians are screened. We focus on delivering superior service and products to our customers. We do this by providing quality water heaters, and responding to customer calls within 24 hours. We are the only company that concentrates our efforts in the Northern Virginia area specializing in the repair and replacement of water heaters. For a free phone quote, please call direct at (703)497-4118. We look forward to working with you!
Recent Review: Matt was very good at communicating with me throughout the decision process. Pricing was competitive with other vendors, and the quality of the work was very good. Workers answered my questions and cleaned up after themselves. Weather caused some delays in getting the project started on the date planned, but the work was still concluded by the agreed upon date, and I have seen no indications that the quality of the work suffered at all because of that.
Recent Review: Furnace failed on 12/2/17. Excel came out on 12/4 (or maybe 12/5) to look at unit - told me it needed to be replaced. I shopped around for a bit then notified them on 12/14 that I wished for them to do the work. Furnace had to be ordered and installation was scheduled for 12/28. Excel called me on 12/27 to report that the furnace was still in Chicago - rescheduled installation for 1/2/18 which is when it was finally installed. On a positive note, everyone I dealt with at Excel was very respectful and polite. They arrived promptly and notified me 30 minutes ahead of their arrival, sending me texts with the names and photos of who would be coming. They worked efficiently and cleaned up extremely well after they were done. I noticed a problem with condensation leaking from a PVC pipe placed during the installation onto the top of the furnace. I called the office to report it and they promptly sent someone out to look at it. They ended up changing the configuration of the pipe which fixed the problem. They were again meticulous in their clean-up afterward. Other than being quite cold for a month, I was overall very satisfied with Excel Heating a & Cooling.

Recent Review: Their price is high and I'm going to look for someone new this fall. They put the equipment in when the house was built and I've just kind of stuck with them. They come twice a year. They installed a faucet in the wrong direction. They came right back out and fixed it. I have no complaints about the work. The price is just to high. The neighbors go to a gentleman that I may go with. They are good people. I don't really have any problem with them.
Recent Review: After-hours call, so we did pay a premium but the tech (Chris) called right away and was at our home within 1/2 hour. The problem was a blown capacitor in the outside unit. Replaced with one he had on the truck and we were up and running again. Couldn't have been happier with the response and work. We were leaving on vacation the next morning and did not want to wait until we returned for the repair because of the heat and humidity.
Workers were on time/on schedule, polite & professional. The contractor Robert Vailes explained operation of system & inspected the workers installation. Vailes is a "model" contractor, "number 1".

This is a small busness owed and operated by Scott Hearl. They replaced our furnace and have serviced our furnace and air conditioner since. He's friendly and does a great job. They clean up after their service. He comes back every 4-6 months to service our furnace and air conditioner. When ever we have had a problem, he responds immediately. He can be trusted and will do a good job. His prices are very competative.

This summer when my AC died I called Boyers to come out and see if they could fix it. I had called them in the past, they came out within 24 hours on what was by then the hottest day of the year. I had a leak and the guy said as old as my unit was it would probably cost 2000 to even try to find the leak and the type of coolant was it used was about to be unavailable. After getting several estimates to replace the AC (Turns out you get a discount if you replace the furnace too so I did both), Boyers came in as the lowest plus they are local where as others were not. When they came out to do the work (within less than a week) they ended up replacing all of my duct work as well. They didn't charge me any extra for this and it ended up being a lot of work for the two guys who came. Everyone I talked to was polite and informative and the guys who came out to do the work were fast and professional considering how much work they did. With the insulation they added to the ductwork I know it lowered my bills. I highly recommend them. And will probably use them for future plumbing needs as well.

Our air conditioner had died on a super hot day. Landes was at our home the next morning. They fixed the problems and provided the units with a tune up. They gave me advice on regular maintenance that will limit the chances of this occuring again. Overall, I was thrilled with the experience and the bill was very reasonable.

AHOSTETTER HEATING & COOLING
Mr. Hostetter came out to our house and we found a review for him on Angie's List. His reviews were straight on. In fact we found him by seeing a review on another company that Mr. Hostetter had stepped in to make a bad situation good. He is a very trusting, honest, and hard working man! He came out to the house and after checking our system gave us our options. He was very informative and didn't make us feel like we had to make a hurried decision. We decided to replace our unit. His guys came out and put in the new unit and took out the old. They were complete gentleman and made sure they had cleaned up after themselves and even shut doors behind themselves. They were hard workers and didn't stop till the job was done. I would definitely recommend to anyone. They were very reasonably priced as we had priced others in our area that were much higher.

The technician arrived on time. He was very professional, courteous and articulate. He serviced both A/C units and informed us we were low on refrigerant. He asked if we wanted him to locate the leak for possible repair which he did. The repair was to be scheduled at a later date.
