Recent Review: The quote was originally done over the summer as we were looking to get the best value for the money. In September, when we determined who our top two contractors were, we asked for a refreshed quote. Their quote was the best value and we moved forward with the work. They scheduled the work and were on time. Even though their business was based 45+ miles from our house, there was never an issue with them starting on time and they also finished the roof in the timeframe indicated, even with a major problem at the start. Upon starting to remove the shingles they found that the house was originally built without roof underlayment. It had 1x6 boards spaced out to meet what was needed for the wood shingles. They called immediately and explained the problem. They explained why they hadn't determined it prior to starting. None of the quoting contractors had identified that there was no roof underlayment (there were 4 other contractors that inspected and bid on the project). They gave me a worst case quote for the underlayment and moved forward on the job. The time to finish was not affected by the added scope, to add nearly 100 4x8 underlayment sheets. Upon completion, they cleaned up the yard, took away all the construction debry and made sure the outside looked like there was never any construction. Upon receiving the final cost, it was a pleasant surprise that they were able to come in over $500 less than their worst case estimate for the underlayment.
Recent Review: I can say that they are very reasonable, which is one reason I chose them. I had also seen the job they did on my neighbor's roof and I was impressed. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what the square footage of the house is to reference it to other roofs, and I would also not care to share what I paid for the job.

Roofers did an amazing job. Removed the old roof and installed the new roof all within the day (started at 7 am and done by 2pm). Left the house and surrounding areas just as clean as they found it. The price ended up being higher than originally expected, but in line with the amount of rotted wood they had to replace and the price was provided ahead of time for that cost. They took lots of pictures throughout the day to show progress, flag areas of concern, and were very thorough. We've had several big rainstorms since the new roof was installed and have seen no more issues. Would highly recommend!

Excellent. Work started when on time and response to doing the job was prompt. Work completed in the time stated. Crew pick-up and discarded all debris from installing new roof. Photos provided of the condition of roof before the new roof with a detailed written account of problems. This conversation justified the installation of new roof vs. patching up roof. Photos provided of the new roof. Contact person was accessible via phone conversation and text when I had questions or concerns. This is second time that I used Company. They initially did some roof repair on another row house rental and did a good job given illustrations on photos.

It was fine. We were considering roof work and they recommended a new roof. We ended up getting a new roof with them.

I was desperate. I had a leak in my roof on December 16, 2009 and water had come into my basement, two bedrooms and the living room. A big snow was predicted and I wanted the new roof right away. I got several estimates. Marvin (M G Construction) was the cheapest and he could do it before the snow. Marvin was very accommodating, easy to work with and did exactly what he said he would do. He completed the job at 5 pm on Friday December 19, 2009 and the big snowstorm (20 inches) began at 9 pm Friday night! I was thrilled to have the new roof! I asked him to come back two weeks later to check on the roof after the big snowstorm. He did and all was well. I would highly recommend him.

They came out for the deal, however they advised that I needed a new roof, so didn’t fall under the deal parameters.

I had three estimates to replace my roof. One roofer said he could not handle my roof because it had “flat roof” elements that required a specialized rubber roofing product. Another roofer (one I had used for years to replace shingles each time we had a wind storm) gave me a quote that ignored the flat roof elements. Augustine accurately identified the issues with my roof and all of the work required. Its quote also was fair, matching the quote of my long time roofer who missed the flat roof aspects of the job. The job was assessed and performed quickly and, although it has been only a few weeks, appears to have been well done. The recent wind storm with gusts over 70 mph knocked down several trees in my yard but we kept all of our shingles. Overall, I would recommend Augustine.

Workers did a fabulous job removing 60 years of patched roof. Under the roofing material was gravel that had to be shoveled off to look at the condition of the plywood. Much plywood was rotten and had to be replaced. Workers did an excellent job laying the new roofing membrane. They remarked that the new roof is approximately 25% of the weight of the old roof. They removed and replaced five drains and enlarged some of them. Two skylights were removed and replaced with adequate flashing. Chimney had rotten plywood around it that was replaced and adequate flashing applied. Certified had another contractor available to repair minor damage inside that developed from the application of the roof.

They replaced a slate mansard roof, the flat roof on the front porch, and installed gutters on the front porch. The price was reasonable based on other estimates and they were always responsive and punctual regarding the estimate, a followup meeting, and performing the work.
