Recent Review: It looks good; however, time will be needed to see if things are indeed stable. They will come back in 6 months to a year for a final check. In 2013 (when the company was Evergreen) they encapsulated the very wet crawlspace. That is still performing well (though we've had to replace the original dehumidifier). A total of 12 "Intellijacks" were put in along with a supplemental steel I-beam and additional wood bracing of trusses. Holes were dug, filled with drainage gravel, cement footers installed to support the "Intellijacks" and the disrupted waterproofing redone. This was difficult work as the crawlspace is very low and the ground hard and rocky. We have always been impressed with the professionalism of all employees (office, professional, and work crews). We give the men who worked on this job all "5-star" reviews: Mike Gadjelov, Jacob Journell, Jordan Cook, and Alex Wilson. The only reason I didn't give a better grade on the price is it was such a big expense I couldn't bring myself to say it was "excellent." Since a house is one's biggest asset sometimes you just have to do it. Also, Nic Spruill (the Salem Production Manager) came in response to some further questions I had and will be coming back this week to shim some of the supports where needed. This company has the technical competence (and commitment to getting the proper permits for all work) to solve problems.

Recent Review: Mark came to our house and made a recommendation that was pretty similar to his competitors. Seal-Tite's bid came in significantly lower. All bidders were highly-rated and professional. We had some concerns about the terms of the contract, which Seal-Tite addressed to our satisfaction. The crew was great. Gus, the foreman, was terrific. He asked about every part of the job where he thought we might have a concern. It turns out our footer was several feet lower than anticipated, but Seal-Tite did the extra digging without question. They were careful about debris and the placement of excavated fill. The encapsulation was done first and by the time the rest of the project was done, the musty smell we had previously experienced was mostly gone. We could not have been more pleased with Seal-Tite's performance.

Recent Review: The work generally was excellent. Debris removal was through my basement and clean up could have been better (before work started worker offered to place plastic sheeting in basement but I declined, should have accepted) The vapor barrier installation was done very well and efficiently.

Recent Review: Travis came to my house in a timely fashion after I called to set up an appointment to get an estimate on repairs. He and his crew showed up on the day and time that was scheduled. He called the day before the work was to be done to confirm he would be at my home. I feel he and his crew were very conscientious about the quality of their work and attention to detail. I believe Affordable Labor and Contracting is a reliable and trustworthy company. I will call them in the future because of their great customer service, concern for customer satisfaction and work ethic.

Recent Review: Dave and Ruth came over to our house after hours on the day of our first call. They inspected the basement and crawl spaces and seemed confident that the work that needed to be done was better fit for another company. They took samples of our floor and ceiling tile, which they said they would send to a lab to get test results on, and gave us the name of an exterior contractor that they often do business with. Dave and Ruth went, what I would consider, above and beyond to help us out. This job is still pending, since the problem with our house has not been fixed yet. I would definitely give them another call in the future if we do have an issue!

Reviews in Vinton to Encapsulate Crawl Spaces

AJES Foundation Repair
There do not seem to be other competitors for this service in Roanoke area.  Despite this, Evergreen handled their business with us as if we were the only job they had on the books-- and our house is very small.  We just purchased this small fixer upper.  I noticed bad smell throughout the house - mostly dirt smell.  We wanted to be sure we addressed any moisture, mold, radon, etc.  Evergreen was honest that we had no moisture issues and did not try to add on unnecessary services.  They explained the process and materials to us thoroughly.  We went with the extra strong fiber under the plastic as they suggested.  The plastic they use is very thick.  It appears to be sealed very well.   It is tidy and clean and we can crawl or walk on the encapsulated material.  Our electrician and plumber have been able to get in and do their work and although they have been careful, they have had no problem with seams opening or material tearing at all. We have done a lot of remodeling in the last month besides the encapsulation, and our new home no longer has a dirt smell at all.  We even had the ducts cleaned by another vendor to be sure we had things all cleaned out.  I think the cost may have been a little high for the size of our house, but again, they do not seem to have competition.  To me, it is well worth the cost to eliminate the dirt odor, know that ground moisture that may create mold is sealed off, and the have the crawlspace area cleared, cleaned and sealed.    Even my  husband who does not have a sensitive sense of smell or allergies, feels this process was well worth it. I will add that Evergreen workers were very hard working.  They had to clear space, scrape, smooth and work in crawl space - a dirty difficult job.  But they were work horses and very professional!  I commend Evergreen for attracting and keeping good quality helpers. I  am a Class B Remodeling Contractor specializing in interior remodeling, so my standards of workmanship are high.  They did not miss a beat.  Did a great job beginning to end. We called Drew on a Saturday about scheduling an estimate for the next week. He made time to come out the same day to accommodate our schedules. He took his time reviewing the situation and answering our initial questions. He provided two quotes with different options and explained them in detail. We are individuals who do our "homework" and own research. Drew took the time to answer all of our many other questions to our satisfaction. The crew arrived on time, completed the job within specified time-frame. They were professional, courteous and did a fantastic job. They walked us through the job so we could inspect it along the way. They did a follow-up inspection two weeks after the job was complete to make sure we were satisfied and that the encapsulation is functioning as expected. We are very pleased with the results.

Late getting there. Didn't call as to when he was coming. I had to call Angie's List to see if he will show up. He didn't crawl around the crawl space to see where I told him where the water is standing. But he did tell me about the wire cords on the ground floor that shouldn't be there. And what I need to do about the crack in the floor of my garage. And out door gutters run off. I need someone who's not afraid to crawl in a crawl space to check things out. I needed to know where the water is coming from.

BB-Dry Waterproofing and Foundation Repair
they arrived on the date they stated but a little late. had misunderstanding with sales rep about what they were going to do, so he came by and we resolved the issue, but it cost more to complete what i wanted done. work was completed in 2 days, which was not a problem. Only time will tell if the work is satisfactory. So far I have had no problems and I believe the quality of work is excellent. Im not sure if what I had them do was overkill for what was needed and they wanted to do more(Blue Canyon). I elected to pass on that option. This is the second review I have filled out for Angies List, so I hope it is satisfactory for your needs. Please dont ask again about B-Dry....

Do's - Get them in early. They will do a soup to nuts evaluation of your problem.  I wish I had called them first. Don'ts - Don't restrict them in their assessment. Let them evaluate your whole situation. Mold and Mildew are nothing to ignore!
