Recent Review: Due to budget constraints, we were originally going to install laminate countertops in an apartment I was renovating.  However, when Winkel came out to give me an estimate, he said he could do granite instead of laminate for only a few hundred dollars more than the laminate would cost.  Winkel came out to give the estimate and was right on time.  We agreed on the materials and price and he wrote up a contract on the spot.  We scheduled the work for the following week.  We had one long countertop, two small countertops next to the stove and a bar top.  A tall backsplash was installed between the long countertop and bar top and regular height side and backsplashes were installed with the small pieces.  The crew did a very good job of notching and scribing the pieces that needed to be modified onsite. I will definitely use The Countertop Guru again.

Recent Review: KNC was very easy to work with. They may not have the largest selection of any granite warehouse, but they seem to have better prices on the higher-end granite than other places. We went with them because they had better looking granite than a much larger warehouse we had also looked at.

Recent Review: Mr. Yasa showed up on time for our appointment and looked over the work to be done.  We had purchased a Big Deal for 75 feet of granite countertop for a basement bar my husband had been building. However, as Mr. Yasa was in our home and available, we asked him to give us an estimate on a replacement countertop for the 7 foot wet bar in our bedroom.  We were so pleased with the price, we contracted with him for that countertop also. The Yasa installer, Mr. Atay, showed on time for the appointment to make a template of the bars.  The one in the basement is rather elaborate and actually involves two bars, a rear one along a back wall that includes a sink, and a traditional-looking bar with a lower counter for the bartender and a higher one for guests.  My husband had also planned a cut out in the bartender side for a small bowl in which we could put lemons, limes, or ice, and there are pedestals, that he had already installed, holding a canopy frame over the bar.  Thus, there were a lot of cut outs that complicated the work.  Mr. Atay's templates must have been perfect because the bars are beautiful.  He worked quickly and completed both projects within about 2-3 weeks.  The countertops would have been installed more quickly had I not requested a delay due to my husband's hospitalization.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone.  The quality of the work is excellent and not only are Mr. Yasa and Mr. Ayat very professional and do good work at a reasonable price, but also they are very kind and pleasant to work with.

Recent Review: They came in on one morning and took out the cabinets, counters, sink, lights and the next day they put new installations in. The countertop was a beautiful granite, and the cabinets were an oak color with black detailed trim and one had double glass doors. The sink is a deep double steel sink. The cutting of the granite countertop was done on-site and we were able to get the perfect measurements.

Recent Review: The process of working with Nader from Artistic Granite was excellent from start to finish. He gave a quote over email based on my drawings, priced out the material, updated me when the material price changed, accommodated a schedule change based on our mistake (ordering the wrong sink) and most importantly, did an excellent job installing the new counter. He also responded to my (many!) questions throughout the process very quickly and effectively.

BKitchen Saver
The process with Kitchen Saver was seamless from beginning to end. I contacted Kitchen Savers to let them know we were interested in cabinet refacing, new countertops, and backsplash replacement. Carole at their office set up an appointment for us with on of their estimators, Dan, to come out and see the kitchen and discuss our options. Dan was very knowledgable, and a great sales person. He got us really excited about the process and we decided then and there to go ahead with the job. At the appointment he did explain, however, that Kitchen Saver does not do backsplashes. I was a little disappointed to hear that, since I mentioned to Carole on the initial call that we wanted our backsplash replaced but decided to overlook it and move forward with the job anyway. (A side note: Frankie's Flooring out of Upper Marlboro, MD completed our backsplash removal and replacement---We highly recommend him!) After our appointment with Dan, Kitchen Saver sent out another gentleman to take our final measurements for the cabinets. He was very efficient and friendly. He did point out that the tilt-outs under our sink were not noted on the form completed by Dan, and it would be an up-charge if we would like to keep the tilt-outs. I was a bit frustrated with this because during our appointment with Dan, he pulled on our tilt-outs and said, "oh good you have tilt-outs." Regardless of this, they were not noted on the specification sheet so we decided to go without them to avoid the up charge. The next step was picking our granite with their sub-contractor, Pyramid Granite. During our appointment with Dan he explained that we can select any granite in levels 1 through 3, and that is covered in our cost. Anything above a 3 would have to be paid out of pocket directly to Pyramid Granite. Upon arriving at Pyramid Granite, we explained that we are working with Kitchen Savers and would like to see the granites included in the cost of the job. They took us around and we selected a beautiful slab of Himalayan White. When we returned to their office, the woman explained to us that this stone is a level 4 (of course). So I asked her if anything we saw today was within levels 1 through 3, and she said "no, they are all higher than 4." I then asked to see what granite they have that is within a level 1 through 3. She showed us one hideous piece of stone that she claimed was the only stone they carried in levels 1 through 3. We decided to stick with the Himalayan White (and pay $400+ more), however we were frustrated with the lack of options and the service received as described. It felt like were were forced to pay more when we had expected to have some options in levels 1 through 3 based on our conversations with Kitchen Saver. A few weeks later, the job began and our installer's name was Ken. He was very polite and explained that he had several years of experience which made us feel comfortable. On the first day he had asked if we were expecting brackets under our granite bar top. I told him absolutely not, because we sat with Dan for a good amount of time with a tape measurer and figured out the exact depth of granite we should get to avoid needing brackets. On granite installation day, I came home from work to find brackets under our bar top. I did not receive a phone call or any notice from the installer or Pyramid Granite, which was disappointing. I did not even have a chance to review the style of brackets. They were just installed without our knowledge. My husband and I decided to let it slide as along as Ken would caulk and paint them, which he happily agreed to do. Besides this incident, the rest of the project went smoothly. We noted a drawer handle that was installed crooked and Ken fixed it right away. There was also a defect cabinet door, which had some dents, and he promptly ordered us another one which will be here in about a week. Overall, the process was smooth and I was impressed with the friendly, knowledgable, and courteous team of experts that work for Kitchen Saver. Our kitchen looks beautiful and I am excited to show it off to our friends and family. The only reason I did not leave an A rating is because of the experience as I described with Pyramid Granite.

Fantastic. Picked out my granite on Saturday, they measured on Monday. Installed the granite on Friday. Sink had a scratch, so their awesome plumber came out on Saturday at 8am and promptly finished. Very satisfied.

Got an estimate, measurements and an appointment within 7 days. The men who came to install worked quickly and efficiently. They answered my questions as I watched them work. I was surprised that they were in and out within 2.5 hours. New sink, new counters, everything replumbed in that time. Very happy with the results. Thanks to Claudia for all her help getting this accomplished..

This company is great. Ask for Abie. I had a lot of problems with the cabinet contractor (I had to redo an entire section and hire someone else) which caused a lot of stops and starts to the countertop. Abka was so patient and accommodating. I think I had Abie on speed dial! Abie first showed me the basic, less expensive countertops to try to keep me in budget, but I spied one that I liked better and she immediately warned me that it was more expensive. I also wandered around the yard full of slabs to satisfy myself that I had picked the one that I wanted. Yes, I ended up with the expensive one, but it looks awesome, and will be there for so many years to come. Installation was professional, people were on time for measurements and installations (this had to be done in two stages because of the carpenter problem). I really, really recommend this company.
