Recent Review: The owner Charlie Ross promised and delivered the most natural looking water fall feature I have ever seen. In a word it is "Awesome." Throughout the process he worked with us, to ensure that he understood what we wanted and kept us informed on the status of the project on a daily basis. His four man crew were professional and did an excellent job keeping the job site clean and orderly throughout the process which lasted 2 weeks (slight delay due to weather). Their attention to detail was superb, in particular, the use of natural materials and the arrangement of the various sized boulders was outstanding. To top it off, their use of lighting makes the project spectacular at night. I was also impressed with the care that was taken to minimize damage to my yard, since heavy earth moving equipment was used to excavate and move the rock work. Virginia Water Gardens is the only certified Aquascape contractor in the area. and as such, honors all manufacturer warranties and guarantees their workmanship for one year.  During the planning stage of this project, we received positive feedback from a number of Landscape companies, one of which incorporated a Virginia Water Gardens waterfall design in their proposal. Bottom line: I highly recommend Virginia Water Gardens for any water feature project.

Recent Review: We met Colin (Un) at the Fredericksburg Home Show held at the Expo Center in October 2013.  He had a wonderful rock fountain for sale for the advertised installed price of approximately $2,000 ( can't find the paperwork right now).  I explained what we wanted and he asked for $100 REFUNDABLE (stated this multiple times) deposit.  He stated there were several people interested in that rock, so he would have no trouble selling it if our deal didn't work out for some reason.  He made an appointment to come look at our site and give a better quote, promising a timeline he did not meet.  He was late (by hours or days) for every promised time.  The short story is the estimate ended up being $3,500 - much more than he originally quoted - even though when he left the house he said it would not be much more than $2,000. We told him we couldn't go with a cost so high and would be unable to get the fountain.  He said he did not get the names of anyone else who was interested, so could not refund our deposit.  I last emailed him on November 3, 2013 to give him a last chance to reconsider.  He never responded. To be frank, the low grades I've given him are for ethics and professionalism.  Had he offered to refund our deposit as he first promised, we would have told him to keep it to compensate for his time and travel - especially since he was just starting out. We recognize the $2,000 original estimate was low - even to have the fountain installed exactly as shown at the home show.  We believed the price reflected him trying to get his product out and build referrals.  Additionally, given that the $2,000 was only an estimate, the $100 deposit was supposed to give us first choice before others.  He should have offered to refund it as promised, especially when the revised estimate was so much higher.  If you choose to to business with him, get everything in writing and make sure you have adequate withhold in the event he does not finish the job.
