Recent Review: We recently remodeled our master bathroom and after extensive research we selected Remodel USA. We initially met with Martin Rabone who spent several hours showing us the various options available and assisting us in making preliminary selections. We were directed to various distributors who work with Remodel USA to make tile, granite and fixture selections. We found all of them to be extremely helpful. All parts of the project were carefully worked through with no work beginning until all the materials were available. We were told the project would take 2 weeks from start to finish and were pleasantly pleased that they finished a day early. Our production manager, Percy Melendez, assisted in final choices of materials prior to ordering and insured that we had the correct items and was meticulous in overseeing the two workers, appearing frequently and phoning often to be sure we were happy with everything. Two people were assigned to do the entire instillation except for the frame less shower glass. This meant that there was no waiting for various people who might be delayed by other jobs and the two knew how to do the tile work, electrical work, and plumbing. Both workers were extremely attentive to making sure that our carpets and furnishings were protected and provided advice about placement of grab bars and the showers. They approached us to make final placement decisions before instillation and did everything possible to make certain we would have the master bathroom we envisioned. The frame less shower surround was also expertly installed. All workers cleaned up the area daily and left no construction or other trash behind. Overall, we were exceptionally pleased with our entire experience and highly recommend Remodel USA. We will definitely consider them for future home projects as they do additions, windows, and other things.

Reviews in Suffolk to Remodel Master Bedroom

ANew Dominion Contractors Inc
I had used Joe Henry over 5 years ago to knock the wall out between the master bedroom and the small bedroom that was next to it to make my small master bedroom much larger. He did a great job and had mentioned now that my master bedroom was so large, I should use the space to expand and remodel the master bathroom. It took 5 years for me to save up and was finally able to remodel the master bathroom. It turned out wonderfully. It was a large job, changing the entire plumbing footprint, creating a new wall, adding a tub and expanding to double the original bathroom size. It was an original bathroom from 1971, very small vanity, small shower with dropped ceiling, no tub, and avocado green tile throughout. Joe guided me through the selection process and helped me from making some selection mistakes that I would have regretted. He came up with the design for the new bathroom space and where everything should go. He was very responsive and answered all my questions. The job turned out beautifully, it is a true master suite now. He was the most reasonably priced of the three contractors that had given me a price on the job. I can't say enough nice things about working with Joe and would highly recommend his work.

AKITCHEN EMPORIUM
Ran into a few problems like my bathroom had tile on top of tile which required much more work removing walls instead of tile and wallpaper.  Bathroom was stripped down to the studs, insulation was added on outside wall, ceiling and all around the shower for sound proofing.  Then shower and floor was retiled, new cabinets, sink and comfort height toilet, grab bar in shower were all installed followed by plastering, painting, new towel rack, mirror, toilet paper holder, light.  All the subs were outstanding.  Anything I wanted I was given.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone planning a remodel.  AAA plus.

AVegas Remodel
He is amazing with his creativity, he comes up with great designs and options to make it affordable. We spent almost 40k, we got more for our money than our other bids at more than double the price. We are very happy. I am a contractor also and would recommend him to all my friends.

FMONARCH BUILDING
In 2013, I gave Monarch Building a D rating based on a lack of professionalism and poor quality of work on various aspects of a large home addition and remodel project, including (among others) : insufficient framing crew, poor construction technique on roof requiring architect input to resolve, water leaks in crawl space due to poor plumbing connections, hardwood floor buckling in the large opening between the family room and kitchen because the elevation of the addition foundation and subfloor did not match the existing (has since split and require replacement), poor tile work in a master bathroom shower (have since needed to re-tile floor pan because did not drain properly), and using my tools and bathroom without permission. I ended up firing them and withholding a final payment of $5000 on a $160,000 contract when it became apparent they were not interested in truly correcting the faulty construction I knew about at the time. That was not enough, but all the leverage I had at the time. In a response to my comment on Angie's List, Monarch Building stated that had tried contacting me multiple times to resolve the issues I reported. Unfortunately that was not true. It is now 2017 and I have more recently discovered additional and more serious faulty construction. I can only conclude that although Mr. Echea holds a Virginia Class A contractor license, Monarch Building was both incompetent and dishonest in the conduct of my project. Recently observed/discovered problems and code violations include, but are not limited to: 1) As documented by a licensed electrician – a live, but freely dangling electrical wire buried in one finished wall; and a live, but uncovered junction box plastered over in another, additional uncovered junction boxes in the attic. 2) As documented by a licensed structural engineer - missing roof and wall support studs/posts contributing to ceiling and wall cracks, and improperly constructed subfloor support in the master bedroom resulting in a sinking floor where a new and existing foundation meet. 3) Improperly fastened roof joists and missing blocking in subfloor. 4) Improperly constructed header beam over opening between family room and dining nook. 5) Incomplete roof sheathing [cut 2 - 3 inches short of fascia board] underneath shingles over a dining nook and an Improperly flashed overhang in another area. 6) Undersized header over a door. 7) Just this week verified by a licensed plumber - numerous wastewater drain lines were not vented correctly and do not meet building code requirements, including the kitchen island and the master bath toilet, shower, and tub. All of this will cost significant additional money to repair. I intend to document the above and additional violations to the Board for Contractors and Better Business Bureau in Virginia and am considering a lawsuit. I would seriously advise anyone thinking of using Monarch Building to look elsewhere.

AToms Handyman
Tom and his son Tommy came and painted the room.  I provided the paint and a roller cover.  I had done some work to try to prep the walls, but they came in and preped the walls in a professional manner.  You cannot tell there was ever a nail hole in the wall.  The room looks terrific and it only took them about 2 hours to paint the entire room.  I didn't have a bed in the room which made it easy to move the rest of the furniture to the center of the room and give them the area they needed to work efficiently.  I had forgotten to take down a very  heavy mirror off the wall but they did that for me and then repaired the holes in the wall left by the screws holding up the mirror.  They brought plenty of drop clothes so they were able to cover my hardwood floors so no paint got where it wasn't supposed to.  They also taped off the base boards.  The painting line at the top of the ceiling is nice and straight.  They did a great job, were on time, were professional and very friendly.  They also gave me an estimate on fixing and tiling my bathroom floor while they were there, but I haven't decided whether I am going to do it myself or hire them to do it.  However, I am sure if I do hire them, the job will be done quickly and professionally.

DOLD DOMINION IMPROVEMENTS
He put new vent fans in my bathroom. He laid the discharge hose for the air to go out into the attic and now i have mold growing in my attic. He (without consent) set up a wet-saw in my master bedroom and laid plastic around the area where the saw was set up. That left mud and water all over my floor and bedroom. I had to re-do some of his plaster work, because he hired a guy the day he started the work. The guy knew nothing about plaster work and did a bad job. I had to call him back to fix a toilet that was leaking and he had an attitude about it. He also used a plumber that never even showed up. Finally another plumber was called in to do the work.

ACrawford Professional Painting & Interior Design
We began remodeling and painting in 2010. We began with a complete paint job downstairs. Mary Ann came up with a very sophisticated color palette of warm sandy golds and rich browns which never failed to bring positive comments from visitors. She also added an accent wall in the kitchen and tiled the backsplash with contemporary glass tile. She picked out wall coverings and linens. She created a faux-finish treatment for the downstairs bath. Moving upstairs, Mary Ann helped me develop a restful and soothing color palette for the master bedroom and master bath and some brighter colors for the guest bedrooms. She also designed an accent wall at the top of the stairs for emphasis. Mary Ann was very thorough and professional, always helpful and full of good ideas.I would not hesitate to use her again for a design project.

ATitan Contracting LLC
Overall Titan Contracting LLC performed great work. Erik was really quick about scheduling an estimate (I also got an estimate from him for my upstairs bathroom remodel). I was happy with the cost he quoted (it was great he included all materials in the estimate) and he did a great job working around my schedule. I really, really appreciate how flexible he was and how responsive he was to my changing schedule. The work was done quicker than the projected time frame and the craftmanship was fantastic. I'm so happy with the end result - the attention to detail on the trim and removal and re-installation of the 100+ year old original trim was fantastic. His team was very friendly and did a great job containing the work and cleaning up when finished. Part of the way into the remodel it was discovered that one of the walls couldn't be removed completely due to plumbing running through it. I really liked that this was brought to my attention quickly and I was given different options prior to proceeding. We were able to talk through a solution and progress with the rest of the job. I'm very impressed with the flexiblity, professionalism, and expertise of Erik and his team. I'll definitely be calling him to complete my bathroom remodel!

CMarjos Complete Remodeling
Marjos has some very nice people. They seem inclined however to find out how much you are willing to spend first. From this, they tend to scope-out a project in order to spend all in your budget, whether it's what you really asked for or not. Before going with Marjos, do your homework and find out what things really cost. Get at least three other estimates, and check your references. After doing more research, we were very surprised (and disappointed) to discover how expensive Marjos is. They wanted a lot more to produce less than we wanted. Several alternate contractors submitted well developed proposals which included everything we had originally asked for, many thousands of dollars below Marjos bid. It's possible the addition was beyond what they normally do, which might explain the huge cost difference between them and a few other contractors. My guess is that they're probably very good at simple kitchen and bathroom remodeling.

AJerry Harris Remodeling
Our remodeled bathrooms are absolutely beautiful and I am very happy with the quality of the work. Mike Martin, our Project Specialist was a true professional. The quality and Mike's work and commitment to excellence was first rate. Like everyone undergoing a remodel, we would have like the work completed faster. Mike worked without an assist the majority of our project which was part of the slow timeline.
