Recent Review: Mark came to our house and made a recommendation that was pretty similar to his competitors. Seal-Tite's bid came in significantly lower. All bidders were highly-rated and professional. We had some concerns about the terms of the contract, which Seal-Tite addressed to our satisfaction. The crew was great. Gus, the foreman, was terrific. He asked about every part of the job where he thought we might have a concern. It turns out our footer was several feet lower than anticipated, but Seal-Tite did the extra digging without question. They were careful about debris and the placement of excavated fill. The encapsulation was done first and by the time the rest of the project was done, the musty smell we had previously experienced was mostly gone. We could not have been more pleased with Seal-Tite's performance.

Recent Review: As a real estate agent I have dealt with many home inspectors and felt that Mike owner of Hallmark Home Inspections, LLC did a great job.  I was very satisfied with the over all inspections process.  Mike was very informative and communicated well his findings of the inspection.  Very friendly and personable.  The company was easy to contact, I was able to schedule an appointment at a time that was convenient for me and the inspector was on time.  Over all I was very satisfied. Thanks Hallmark Home Inspections for a job well done.

Recent Review: From the initial call, Dan was personable, knowledgeable, and professional, which gave us peace of mind in inspecting our first home.   The business provided three inspectors on a Saturday and did all of the hard tasks including  inspecting the roof and crawl space.  They even shared a suit and mask with my husband so that he could view the crawl space as well.  They provided a detailed report that night, and explained it to us immediately, allowing us to ask any questions that we had.  They were very much on our side as the buyers.  If we don't go through with this home purchase (based on their thorough findings)  we will most definitely use their home inspections services again and recommend them to our friends.

Reviews in Rustburg to Inspect Crawl Space

AFinal Analysis Home Inspections
My wife and I are from out of the area. When researching home inspectors in the Tidewater, one company consistently had outstanding reviews, and more of them than any other inspection business. After hiring them and being present throughout the process it was easy to see why. When Dan first called me to confirm our appointment, he made it a point to go through what they were going to be looking at in detail. It was a shock when he told me that it would probably take between three and four hours! I'd been through satisfactory home inspections before where the inspector was barely there for an hour. Now, this was an older (1950) home, and it had plenty of the issues you'd expect from a building of that era. Zach, our inspector, is a young, serious guy who was completely thorough and professional from the moment he arrived. Obviously Dan is careful about who he hires. Zach got right to work, knew exactly what he was looking at – and looking for – and although we didn't want to disturb him much as he went about his job, when we did have a question, he stopped and answered us with as thorough an explanation as we wanted, before continuing. From the peak of the roof to the tiny crawl space under the house, he went over every inch, and examined every system in detail, taking pictures and looking for problems, explaining to me what he was finding as I followed him around. (I let him do most of the crawling around underneath the home, but I did accompany him as far in as I dared, watching him examine every square foot, crawling under ductwork, wiping away cobwebs and narrating all the way. As far as I'm concerned, that little escapade more than earned him his money.) Just over three hours later, he was finished. But then he spent an additional forty minutes or so with my wife and I at a local coffee shop giving us a step-by-step summary of what he'd found and answering all of our questions. The final report was more than 60 pages long, with photos of every issue he found, categorized by order of importance. Although there were no major surprises, there were some issues Zach discovered that we're really glad we're aware of. No matter what our final buying decision is, we're completely confident that, thanks to Final Analysis Home Inspections, we really know this house.

I received 2 quotes from 2 contractors for this work. Evergreen was very punctual, always on time or at least reasonable. Every person interacted with was professional. The sales person came to the house and gave a quote that day. I went to the other company who had already been out and they sent their quote, it was cheaper than Evergreen. I discussed this competitive quote with Evergreen and we worked out some details, I was assured that the job would be done right ,and since the 25 year warranty is reassuring I went with Evergreen. I think in the long run I made the best choice since the 25 year warranty is awesome and the other cheaper company had only a 1 yr warranty, however I would not recommend Evergreen unless you plan on checking on all their work personally. I was very disappointed in the attention to detail of some items, but it was odd because some things were done with a high level of attention to detail while others were not, very conflicting. The Story: Scheduled for 2 Day job, 3 people, ~900 sq ft crawl space often having standing water when it rained a lot. 1st Day, Monday - Installation guys discovered that the designed water trenches were not going to work well, they gave me the option to install a 2nd sump pump at no additional cost instead of the additional trenching challenges/risks. It was decided to install 2 sump pumps on opposite ends of the home. (Note: Sump pumps need serviced yearly, the drawback is 2 pumps cost more to service than 1 pump....I think 2 cost around $160, but I will not know till next year) The workers were friendly, respectful, professional, and worked hard. 2nd Day, Tuesday - It was raining so they decided to delay digging the discharge lines since it would tear the lawn up more. They finished the basic installation and I reviewed it. We discussed several things which I had expected to be different and the workers happily confirmed they would come back to hit those spots when they came back to did the discharge line. Outstanding items were: Needed insulation on one wall near the entry, couple spots needed additional sealing in the cleanspace, that evening I discovered the inside discharge lines had several PVC joints which had not been glued, the standard discharge distance is 15-30 feet from the house but in our quotation process I had thought we had agreed to more, that evening the sales person and I talked and we agreed to a good compromise of 45 feet (I had wanted ~70 to get it behind my garage, 45 was better than 30). 3rd Day Thurs or Fri? - The third day was just a few minutes to fix the leaking pipes and seal the places in the encapsulation, this was done. 4th Day Saturday - They returned on that Saturday Morning for a couple hours and dug the trench and installed the 45 foot discharge lines, other inside PVC leaks had been discovered, those were repaired as well. Unfortunately it was also raining this day, there was no sod to put back on top the trench since it was so muddy, I requested they put down grass seed, this is not their normal procedure, but they agreed to come back.  After they left more leaks in the PVC inside were still present. 5th Day Monday - They sent out another guy not on the install crew, he looked everything over and went back indicating the installers needed to fix their issues, he did not want to fix their issues and did not have the parts he needed. 6th Day Wednesday? - The original crew returned and fixed the PVC, fixed some issues with the discharge lines and seeded. They also completed the insulation which had been missing. They spent most of the day as a result of discovering that I had a worse water issue than they had initially thought, more trenching was performed under the cleanspace and the cleanspace was sealed up again. I felt much better about the attention to detail and quality of the job after this day so I paid them Thursday. Sunday - I found still one more leak in the PVC pipe inside the crawl space, and a very small amount of water still coming in where the new issue had been discovered and mostly resolved on the 6th day. 7th Day Monday? They sent a worker to go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Sunday (3 weeks after start)- It has only rained a little in the week since the final work (7th day) was done and I have not had the time to go down there and check everything out, if there is anything else significant I will have to edit this review and let you know. For now I think things are ok and I feel safe knowing Evergreen/basement systems/cleanspace has a really good warranty. I have been disappointed by their attention to detail, they had to come back a bunch, but in the end I expect a long lasting product, only time will tell. Again, everyone was very nice and professional, otherwise I would be hopping mad about this job and the time required of me to keep checking every time it rained but since they were easy to get along with I am patient enough to also recognize that mistakes happen and people learn from them. As a result I expect your installation to go much smoother than mine.

It was a large job, and Evergreen arrived as scheduled, completed the entire process in an extremely professional manner, explained what they did, and emphasized their desire to come back at any time if problems arouse. We have had absolutely not problem in the 6 months since, and the crawl spaces remain pristine. Recent contractors working on a bathroom upgrade commented they had never seen a better basement job.

ATimber Ridge Home Inspection
Mr Hinz arrived on time and immediately got on the task.  His inspection started outside and moved deep into the house.  He covered the following: Mr Hinz used infrared, water detectors, electrical service instruments, experience and the ever-present "MACH-I Eyeball" to evaluate the house inside and out.  This is a farm house out in the country so septic tanks, spring water, cracks & critters are all part of the conversation.  We had already crawled through the home as part of the "Do-we-want-to-buy-this" decision tree and developed a list of questions/concerns and focus areas.  We handed Mr Hinz the list as part of our introductions and he covered all of the topics in addition (or as part of) his comprehensive list.  I've provided our list below as well as his overall inspection menu. Bottomline:  Best home inspection to date.  He prodded the report at the end of day and everyone left the property fully understand what was good, what was bad and what needed further evaluation.
