Recent Review: The service was okay. The install took a little time. I felt that what was advertised, and what I received wasn’t  exactly what I ordered. I think I should’ve been given the choice if I wanted that product, or if I wanted something different. They workers were professional, and they worked as long as they could to finish the job. I would recommend them to others

Recent Review: I was searching for a cheaper alternative to home security monitoring. My family and I are on a tight budget, and we could not afford the steep charges from Suddenlink and other local home security providers for their systems. The two things causing the services to be so expensive were: (a) the cost of the monthly phone service we would need, since we don't have home phone service, and (b) the cost of the monitoring itself. We would had to pay about $80 a month, or more with these traditional companies! Thankfully I found NextAlarm after some careful googling. They are a fraction of the price of any of their competitors. Their system appeals to me, because it uses the internet rather than a phone line, saving lots of money. Their monitoring itself (done in the traditional way, with real people in a dispatch office) is also substantially cheaper on top of that. I paid $250 for the home security kit and now I only pay $13.50 per month for the monitoring! Its so cheap that the costs are literally offset entirely by the savings to my homeowner's insurance premium. The support staff at NextAlarm are great. They are so patient, and they will help you with anything related to your system. I have called them numerous times with little questions about this or that, and they are always super nice and knowledgable. They even walk you through how to make changes to your security system, step-by-step, when you want to change delay or change the programs. Please make note of the fact that they do not have a local installer to do the installation. The third-party vendor who offers an and quot;Instal cardand quot; will not be able to install your service in East Texas (they will refund your money once they see where you need the installation). Point being, you will need to hire a local handyman to install the home security system for you. As I already mentioned, I used Stephan du Toit -- (www.facebook.com/professionalhandymanservices). He charged my $60. Besides that little hiccup, NextAlarm is amazing. In summary, I love my service. I hope more people in my area sign up with them. It is such a great deal and they're so great!

Recent Review: Everything went great. I got the system a few days later and started to install it. All the devices were easy to put up all told it took about 45 minutes to get up and running. During the install I set the alarm off and Getsafe called me right away. I like the way it looks in my home and by that I mean I hardly notice it is there. I like being able to control the system from my phone and being able to check on my house with the camera when I am away.

Reviews in Roseland for Security Camera Installation

FLake Anna Security
If you are planning to have a security system installed, please think twice before using Lake Anna Security.  I went to them thinking I would support a local business, which I always try to do. What I didn't realize is that they would take me to the cleaners and install very basic equipment while charging me for gold and platinum level equipment.  For instance, after they installed a complete home security system, including two cameras, I thought to myself that the equipment looked somewhat ?cheap? compared to other systems I had seen.  So I went through the list of everything they installed  and went to Amazon and other retailers to see just how much would it cost me to but the equipment myself - and the grand total was a little less than $1500.  But I, in the end, had paid more than 3 times that, so I guess the installation, which took a day, cost thousands of dollars.  That doesn't take into account dealer prices or anything else, so I?m sure the actual difference was even more than that. Every business needs to make a profit ? I understand that. Now, if the equipment was first rate, I probably wouldn't be so upset. But at every turn, the equipment was not really what we discussed or it doesn't meet my needs, which should have been addressed, based on their expertise after we discussed what I was trying to accomplish.   Some issues with the security system components: The cameras are both cheap and clunky (TENVIS IP ROBOT 3 - $69.99 at Amazon!), but were described as small and unobtrusive, but they are anything but.  Both my wife and I were picturing discreet domes based on the discussion with Lake Anna Security, but  instead  they are huge and clunky. But I really didn't even want indoor cameras ? I wanted to see down the steps to our dock as well as the front door ? well, Lake Anna Security told me that to install anything outdoors would require a commercial system for another several thousand dollars ? but after doing research, I see there are dozens and dozens of outdoor IP camera that are well rated that would have served the same purpose and more importantly, actually did what I wanted them to do. Now, I have an indoor camera that is facing a window that sees the dock, but is utterly useless at night, since the infrared reflects off of the glass, something I would have expected Lake Anna security to know. The other camera works well, but again, is huge and ugly - more like a baby monitoring camera than a professional security camera.  Also, it requires a separate app to view, so it's not linked into the other components of the Honeywell system.   One of the main things I wanted when discussing with Tony Barrett, the owner of Lake Anna Security, was the ability to control the security system remotely by using the TotalConnect application on the iphone, computer, etc.  The keypad that was brought out was something reminiscent of the early 1990?s. It didn?t have the ability to do home automation, wifi connection ? nothing.  I complained at the time and they brought out a upgraded system (Honeywell 5100), that I was charged an additional $100 for  - but will I be able to use it for controlling things like lights, the thermostat, etc. using the famed Honeywell TotalConnect app (remember, this is one of the major things I wanted)? Of course not ? that would require TWO separate additional components, costing me several hundred dollars).   This is more aesthetics, but when you are paying top dollar for a security system, I would expect to have the better quality equipment used. Instead, bargain basement door and window sensors were used, instead of the readily available models that are about ½ the size and don?t stand out.  I must say, the folks at Lake Anna Security are very nice, prompt, and install the equipment fairly well as far as aesthetics, and they can definitely sell you pretty well.  But since we have had the system installed I have had random sensors just stop working, resulting in a 4 am call from the monitoring company while I was halfway across the country - not exactly confidence inspiring. What makes it worse is that my wife tells me that she doesn't feel safe due to these issues.   Bottom Line: I feel I was ripped off.

The owner of the company, Dave Dawson, installed the system for me just prior to my daughter's wedding. He understood my concern about having the system in place ASAP. He was great to work with, helpful in making choices about the type of system I needed and thorough in his explanation of how the system works. When I had problems getting used to using the system, he was prompt in checking things out and resolving any issues. I'd definitely recommend his company to my friends.

I did a fair amount of research on homeowner-installed security alarm/monitoring/automation systems, and Link Home Security was consistently highly-rated. I purchased my system through Costco, and installed it myself over the course of an afternoon. I'm moderately, "handy", and it me about 3 hours to complete the installation -- which included door monitors, smoke/freeze detector, motion detector, thermostat, and 2 light controls. It probably would have only taken me about 90 minutes to complete the installation if the control panel had not had a relatively minor power supply/wiring issue that had to be corrected in order for the control panel to receive power. I called technical support, and the technician (Travis) was very helpful, and he talked me through the correction process. The system, overall, is very intuitive, has many options available (ability to access the system via the web, and also via smartphone or tablet, is awesome!), and customer service has been exceptional. I would absolutely recommend Link Home Security to a friend.

The system arrived just a few days after it was ordered. There was a very clear manual, with drawings, along with the sensors. It took us a while to set everything up, simply because it was completely new to us. We knew at anytime we could call the 800 number for help. After, placing the sensors, we were then directed to call the 800 number to get it activated. Again everyone was so helpful. They checked each sensor to make sure all were working. One sensor wasn't working. The Frontpoint person told us what to do and it worked. We cannot be more pleased. A few times since we've had the system, I've called with questions. Someone answered immediately and answered any question I had. You never get put on hold.

The advertising says it takes just minutes to install the sensors in doorways. In our house where there are solid wood recessed doorways, it took handymen 45 minutes of drilling in each doorway. They were not happy with how hard it was to install them. The other parts of the system are easy and sensible and it has worked well. Most of the parts have sticky strips for installation and that is easy.

Everything was just a job well done. It was just beautiful. They did a very good job. It was just one guy and he was very professional and focused. He did a lot of wok in the attic. He removed his shoes for cleanliness.

I moved from Long Island to Charlottesville in July 2011 and left my wife in a rental house with a 12 month lease while I returned to New York to pack up and sell our house there. Needing monitoring for an existing security system in the rental house, I contacted ADT and salewoman Karen Allen visited and sold me a bill of goods that was deceptive and misleading, in my opinion. Although we had only a 12 month lease she said that the minimum would be an 18 month commitment, but that if I convinced the new renters to use ADT then that would relieve me of my extra 6 month obligation. The misleading part is that the new renters would have to make the same mistake that I did in signing a brand new 18 month commitment - a detail intentionally left out by the salesperson. What a scam. After hearing my experience, the new renters were willing to use ADT but not for more than a 12 month commitment. At first, ADT sent me a termination bill for $337.58 for an extra 12 months - not 6 months, and finally negotiated it down to a $170 penalty. I very strongly advise against using ADT. I am now in a house at Lake Monticello and have had a new system installed by Dave Dawson of Smart Security Solutions with a 12 month commitment and very high quality of service. Oh, I forgot to mention that ADT repair service is terrible. I paid $5 per month for sensor battery replacement service and when one sensor went bad, leaving the house vulnerable, the earliest repair commitment I could get was 10 days away, and the day of the appointment ADT contacted me to tell me he was running late and would have to reschedule, which could not be done for another two weeks. So we went 24 days without protection due to very poor maintenance service responses. This happened twice. Update: Three months after paying $170 in ransom money to ADT, I was shocked to receive a refund of the penalty. Maybe Angieslist.com helped. I would still not recommend ADT, and my evaluation grades stand as is.
