Recent Review: Russ is great. He is knowledgeable, meticulous about his work, on time, neat, and very pleasant to deal with. He clearly takes pride in the quality of his work as does his able assistant, Lou. They are a pleasure to work with and have a solution for every problem. I cannot recommend them highly enough and would use them again without hesitation. I highly recommend Russ and Charlottesville Handyman Services, LLC.

Recent Review: Work that was contracted to be completed by December 23rd 2015 was never fully completed. On 1/27/2015 contractor phoned to say he would be there that afternoon to complete the job but as of this date (3/7/2016) has yet to arrive. This was typical throughout the time of his services; scheduled to be here then call in sick or say he couldn't be here today. The people he did send were not professional in their skills, i.e.; painting the entire room without a drop-cloth leaving paint spattering on shower/tub, toilet and newly placed granite tops and hardware. The granite was not measured correctly leaving one approx. 1/4 inch from the wall. The electrical outlet had to be moved because the height of the back splash was not taken into consideration when rehanging the mirror in its original place. The floor tiles had to be removed and reinstalled because they were not laid correctly (leaving  3 inches of a 12 inch tile on entry into the room. Tile also uneven at corners.  Each time the owner/contractor came he asked for advancement of more money. He professed to be a master at his work, but had to be watched constantly not to take short cuts and use lesser grade products instead of the materials requested by the owner. Owner had to spend hours removing paint spatters from tub/shower, commode, and new granite tops. I also now have a toilet that has a crack in the bowl.  Owner has had to hire plumber to install sink drains (which contractor left unattached leaving owner without sink for over a month). Also had to have applied the caulking of the granite to the back splash and caulking of new under counter sinks to the granite and install the kitchen stainless steel sink.  I regret that I did not research  on Angie's List,or the Better Business Bureau on this contractor, of Earth Works Development prior to contracting for his services.

Recent Review: Doug and Sharon have always been extremely quick to respond to our needs and work within our time frames. They are very flexible and are able to work within our budget while helping us keep the end "goal" in mind. We have 3 small boys and Doug has been great about making suggestions that prioritize safety for our family. The work has always been performed as promised and on time. We have been especially impressed with the woodwork that he has done. We have used this company several times and we plan to keep doing so as we continue to make improvements.

Scheduling and responsiveness was prompt and professional. Based on our description of services, they estimated it would be about 3-4 hours of work. Serviceman who came out was punctual, courteous and very friendly. However, it seemed that perhaps this individual wasn't the most experienced at this line of handiwork as the work ended up taking most of the day and a couple of compromises were made to wrap up the day's efforts in 8 hours. Overall, everyone was friendly and professional, but we probably lucked out in not getting the most efficient serviceman.

Project went very well; contractors were timely, professional and courteous; they were attentive to disruptions in the household to the extent possible (major renovation projects naturally results in a lot of dust and distractions!); their time was generally well coordinated and managed so that the project could stay on a fairly tight timeline We were pleased with their attention to detail and careful craftsmanship; Ben, the head of the company, provided extensive guidance and help in planning and decisions that needed to be made , while always keeping our wishes, lifestyle, and decorating schemes at the forefront. The crew was prompt and responsive for any questions that came up along the way, and dealt quickly and openly with problems and challenges. They pointed out things we weren't aware of, like a rotted-out door frame, and worked with us on best ways to address them. An error in paint color selection in a bathroom was resolved immediately by repainting. When it became evident that something in the plan wasn't going to work, they involved us in determining how to revise the plan; for example, during the wall tiling in one bathroom, it became evident that the planned design wouldn't work well with the window frame and the Capler Homes crew came up with an alternative pattern and reviewed it with us before proceeding. I will turn to Capler Homes first for any future remodeling or building work that we need.
