Recent Review: Karen was amazing.  She was prompt, and took measurements of all my windows in my house.  Due to the amount of windows and different sizes, I only ordered for the downstairs portion of my house.  The blinds came in about a week or so later and she set up a date and time to have them installed.  She showed up with the installler and they did an amazing job installing them, plus they look wonderful and gave a nice finished look to my windows.  She has an eye for detail and if one window blind looked a little off, she made sure it was straight and even.  She gave me some great ideas for some of my upstairs windows, and I plan to call Karen up in the near future to finish the rest of my house.

Recent Review: We went to their store in Fredericksburg with "rough" measurements we had taken.  The salesperson said she was familiar with the homes and windows in our community and wrote up a quote which we accepted and made a down payment.  Our impression was that she agreed with our measurements and that it was a done deal.  The measurer came a few days later, measured the windows and left without comment.  We assumed that was just a formality. I then received a call from the salesperson explaining that all 4 windows had to be 1/2" longer than we had measured - going from 63" to 63 1/2" in each case.  Also, for 2 of the windows that are treated as one because of the common headrail, the width had to be expanded from 66" to 67".  Because of these changes, according to the salesperson, this put the blinds into the next size category resulting in an increase in price from $880 to $920.  What choice did we have but to accept this change.  A reasonable company would have stuck to their original price. The installer did a great job.  No problems there. But now that we've had them a month, we question whether the extra half inch was necessary at all.  In fact they all seem one slat too long.  And the width change on the two with the common headrail makes the fit a little tighter than seems desired. We will live with these as the product itself is acceptable and decent looking.  But we were very disappointed that the salesperson quoted a price, took our down payment, and then came back with a price increase for a change to the measurements that is questionable.

Recent Review: Roger, the owner, arrived on time, mid-June for our initial meeting. I had never had an in-home consultation for window treatments before, so wasn't sure what to expect, and wasn't even sure what I wanted. Roger gave great advice on what would work best. I had some windows that got a lot of morning sun and made the rooms really hot, so he recommended cellular shades. I never would have thought of that as I assumed they were more than I really wanted to spend. He also recommended wooden blinds for the kitchen, which I had thought of, but again, thought the price would be too high. When he wrote everything up, I expected to have to either downgrade on some products or do half now and half later. I was so happy that the total came in about right where I had set my budget. But Roger had not known what my budget was. On the day he was here for the consult, I also was having new carpet installed so there was a lot going on. In addition to that, I had lots of questions and went back and forth on different options. For the cellular shades, we looked at top-down/bottom up options, plus a really cool one that actually had sheers in them. I really liked those but opted out as I was trying to keep costs down but liked the top-down/bottom up ones for one room and regular ones for the other rooms. I was indecisive about a lot of color options and he was so patient but also offered his opinion (after asking first if I wanted it, which was great!).  On installation day, several weeks later, all went well until he was ready to leave and I went upstairs to see the cellulars and the one room did not have the top-down/bottom up ones. They were just regular shades. Since I wanted regular ones for 2 of the 3 rooms, and we had talked about the sheers but then decided against them, there was confusion about what I wanted for the 3rd room. I was ok with it, as I knew I had been back and forth on many things, plus the carpet people there. He checked his order and confirmed he had ordered the correct items. He offered to replace them at no cost except for the additional cost over what they were vs the plain blinds, which I think was $75, so would have been $150 extra for me. I told him I truly appreciate that offer but let me think about it. He had pointed out to me earlier that the valance for the kitchen blinds was not right, the measurement had been inaccurate. Honestly, I am not sure I would have noticed if he had not said anything. On the consult day, those windows were a pain, they are very narrow and I thought I wasn't going to be able to get what I really wanted, but he came up with an idea that would make them fit. So he said he would order the correct valance and call when it came in. He called last week and we scheduled an appointment for Monday, 7/30/12. The valance was replaced in no time, but then he had a box in his hands and he said he had my top-down/bottom up shades! I was floored! He said he knew I was disappointed and wanted to make it right. I had not even gotten back to him about replacing them, I was going to accept what I had. For him to do that when it really wasn't even really his fault is simply amazing. Since I wasn't expecting that, I had to take down the curtains. The cellulars are great for insulation, but they don't block all of the light, so I attemped to re-hang the blackout curtains I had before. But now my original curtain hardware didn't fit quite right and removing and replacing them is quite cumbersome. I have been meaning to buy new hardware but have been making do with a very tight fit with the curtains rubbing against the blinds and not really being able to open/close the blinds. He stayed nearly an hour fixing the holes where the hardware was to make them more secure and adding shims to make the rods project further out from the wall so the curtains would fit better. I still need to buy new hardware, but they fit better for now and that was such an unexpected thing for him to do. I don't think I have ever experienced such awesome customer service before. Even if he had not surprised me with replacing the blinds, I would have considered the overall experience to be very favorable. He was such a pleasure to work with, very punctual, professional and personable. But to go over the top, not just once, but twice, is so amazing, I just had to write about it!

Budget Blinds was able to accommodate an appointment around my schedule and completed the job as promised.  It took them approximately two weeks for the job process.  In the mean time, Roger installed temporary covers for all my windows.  The blinds look great in my new home and I am happy with the overall service.  During installation Roger took the time to show us how he did it, went over the warranty once again to make sure we understood completely, and he showed up on time.  Great customer service!
