Recent Review: Daniel Runion was the Structural Engineer with whom I contracted to do the work.  He was very professional and responsive to phone calls and emails.  I sent him a copy of the home inspection in advance of meeting him at the site.  He provided a preliminary estimate based on the home inspection documents and then revised after he actually crawled around and did a more thorough inspection.  He came well prepared, told me what he was going to do, provided a timeframe for the plans and sent me two hard copies of plans that I could provide to General Contractors.  He also provided me with a couple of General Contractors with whom he had worked in the past.  I felt that I received excellent service at a very reasonable price.  I would highly recommend use of this firm and should I need these types of services in the future will contact them again.

Recent Review: The job started under fair skys with excavation of the required area to build the wall.  Johnny Lester, the main man, was one earth moving master and although the soil removal was at times difficult to get the right position, Johhny handled it all with determination and accuracy.  The excavation took 2 complete days, and to be honest, I was actually surprised it was done that quickly.      The wall building was carefully planned out before even attempting to lift a block into place.  Now, to be on the up and up, I had viewed some You Tube videos on retaining wall building because I wanted to know something about what my builder was going to try to sell me.  To his credit, his proposals agreed with what I had viewed, so I was fairly sure he knew what he was attempting to do.     So, a trench was dug and filled with gravel, tamped down, and the 1st painstaking row of block laid down.  Never realized just how time consuming it is to get everything perfectly level side to side and front to back for a length of 59 feet with a 90 degree corner in the middle, but Johnny never hurried or lagged behind as the very 1st row is the most critical,,,,and he finished that 1st row in a single day, less in fact, because it had rained the night before and we had to wait a couple of hours for the area to dry out.  The remainder of the wall went up quickly at a pace of 2 to 3 courses a day plus the gravel drainage and packed dirt and reinforcing geogird every 2 courses.  This man worked hard, he worked harder than I ever thought possible.      Overall, I was quoted 2 weeks from start to end, and if was 1 week and 6 days to be exact.  The wall came out just beautiful and I'd not find a worker more dedicated to the job.

Recent Review: Louis came out to inspect our home to determine the structural integrity of the foundation and other areas of concern. Louis performed a very thorough analysis and identified several areas about the home and property that should be considered for upgrading or repair. The professionalism and thoroughness of the consultation was great. I would recommend Louis and Associates to others looking for advice or a second opinion.

Louis's expertise and experience were critical in our selection of the right contractors to perform the necessary work.  We were able to be informed and ask appropriate questions as we formed our team of contractors.   As we neared completion, I asked Louis to come out again and inspect the work in progress, which he agreed to do at a fee of $300.  He pointed out a few areas where tie-downs to the sill plate were insufficient to meet current codes.  Also he looked at the installation of trenches and a sump pump and recommended that the trenching be expanded along another wall to deal with possible leakage from that direction.  His advice was excellent and thorough, no doubt contributing to the county inspector readily signing off on the permit after seeing the completed work. ..
