Recent Review: Arcbazar offers a very unique service. I was looking for some interior design ideas for a new home. There are many interior designer's that offer consultation services. They provide color options, ideas for furniture etc. Whats cool about arcbazar, however, is that it works based on a competition that you create on their website. Instead of getting one designer providing you one concept, you get multiple submissions from different interior designers. I created a competition to provide interior design ideas for my family room/kitchen area. I ended up getting 13 different design ideas. What I was impressed with was the quality of some of the submissions. Many of the designers submitted full color 3 dimensional layouts that made it a lot easier to visualize the design. They also provided a list of furniture, paint and accessory options. Overall I was very pleased with the results. Just be aware that you have to be reasonable about your award amount. You cant enter something like $50 and ask for a full interior design of your whole house. When creating your competition the website will give you a suggested award amount. This suggested award is based on the square feet of the area you wish to design. My only gripe with the service was their website. It's a bit rough around the edges and at times their site was very slow. Sometimes it could be frustrating to use. The only reason I didnt give the service all A's.

We have very strong vendor and contractor relationships, a result of our detailed understanding of construction. Unlike many architects, who like to design and then hand over control to the builder, Ballard Mensua maintains control of management of the project throughout construction. We have a unique cost-study process that helps to put our clients in control of spending... and results in completion of projects on budget.. almost unheard of in this business. Our designs speak for themselves... see our website at www.ballardmensua.com. Our business philosophy is that all clients should be a reference and we work hard to make sure to see projects through. We also have a unique ability to do very large projects without tearing a house down... we save much of the house and build around it... saving sometimes 10 dumpsters of landfill (truly green). Finally, where many architects bring their large ego and force their designs on clients... Ballard Mensua prides ourselves on tailoring designs to each client, listening to specific needs and working hard to make sure that our designs fit what a client is looking for. The service Linda provided was excellent, professional and I loved the finished look. Linda created functional spaces and transforming each room in my house into a home. Her selection and creative ideas all came together and it was a joy working with her.

I am so happy with her doing everything for me. I have a whole lot of pictures and artworks and she just knew how to hang it on the wall. Since then, she helped me so much especially with my kitchen. She also has a consignment shop for you to see what she has available, but I would say that all they have to do is meet her. She has the ability.

They are really a very small outfit but they are wonderful. They worked with us on the interior design. The wife does the interior design. They helped us pick out products like toilets, colors, faucets and shower stalls. They gave us ideas on how to make a small room look bigger. It is just a three person outfit. One guy does the destruction and rebuilding of the walls, floors and ceilings. He did the painting. He was amazing; we couldn't believe all the work he could do. The owner assisted with some of it. They brought in subcontractors for heavy plumbing and heavy electrical and the custom shower. They took care of all of it and once we signed the contract we didn't have to do anything. We have two more bathrooms to do and we will probably go with them.

This fence is amazing. My husband use to put in his own fences in his younger years, and has declared this thing the best quality he has ever seen. The quote was well done, and John had some design ideas that were right on. REsponsive in timing, thorough in working.

They did a great job, very professional and knowledgeable. James was especially polite, consciencous and proficient. He stayed later one day to finish up the job well rather than leave the job unfinished for another day. Would highly recommend their services.

FMr Handyman of Richmond
He appeared to be a very nice young man. I did tell him that I had a broken arm and that I wanted to get these lights fixed for my safety. I decided I couldn't put off the work any longer. They told me when they went to buy the parts, they would be on the clock. He seemed to be very diligent. He was here from 8-12 and that included his time purchasing parts. I didn't appreciate him leaving all of his equipment in my foyer while he went to purchase parts. He didn't provide a receipt after purchasing the parts, and when I asked for itemized copy he told me it was against company policy to share prices of parts. I find this to be a problem and didn't like this. They recommended that I needed to have my GFI repaired, and I didn't have that planned at the time. I was taken aback because I hadn't mentioned this since last October. I went ahead had him repair it. The GFI box is crooked and I'm unable to lift the cover up. I shouldn't have this problem. I want someone else to come out to check the GFI box to make sure properly. They charged me $115 for outdoor coach lights, and I searched the internet and found the exact item on Amazon.com for $66. I believe their prices were too high. Also, I had left my key on the mantle if he needed it, because he needed to get to my outdoor storage area. When I looked at the mantle after he left my key was gone. I searched my purse and I didn't have it. I called them to see if he had my key. They confirmed he did and he returned it. I never received an apology from them in the letter they sent me for the employee walking off with my key. In the meantime, I had decided to have my locks rekeyed the same day for my safety. It cost me an additional $105 that I didn't plan on spending. I feel they should refund me for the $105 I spent on rekeying my locks. I feel the company haven't been truthful and honest with me. I think a supervisor should recheck this work on the GFI box. I really didn't want to place a complaint on this company, but the ability to communicate with them had reached a point where I was too upset and it was affecting my recovery. Unless your company can rectify the situation as described in your two letters and phone conversation, please don't contact me. Prayers will continue to be said for a professional resolution. Update as of 8/19/2013: There was a handyman across the way today, so I called him over. He said he?d been here a year ago but was not an electrician. He briefly looked at the light and said, "I think that's the way it's supposed to be." I would still like someone official from Mr Handyman to come out and check the light, because it should not become discolored this soon. It should still be under warranty.

AThe Carpentry & Painting Experts LLC
I am an interior designer that often needs and uses carpentry and painting services (for myself and my clients). I have had some really bad experiences over the years, but I have to say I have FINALLY found someone I can call for just about anything. I have used The Carpentry and Painting Experts about 8 times in the past year or so, and I can tell you that they are awesome! Martin is a pleasure to deal with, and all of the workers are trustworthy and professional. I feel I can leave my house when they are there. Michael does a great job as the supervisor to see that all of the work is done right and to my specifications. They arrive on time, and if they are running a few minutes behind you get a courtesy phone call. Their attention to detail is amazing, and the project is always completed on time and on budget!

Our project was the update of a 2400 sq ft TV room stuck in the 70's. Our project received 19 submissions, mostly from US based designers but also submissions from India, Finland and the Austria Questions from the designers were posted on a common "wall" and answered by the client. Most of the submissions include colored renderings of their proposals with many including color and fabric recommendations. We were very pleased with the results and the whole process.

Troy arrived at exactly the time he said he would as he returned for a repeat performance in our ongoing campaign to update our home. More contractor-grade lights fixtures have been replaced with tasteful new ones in my quest to banish all brass that came with the house when we bought it. There is now a flat screen TV mounted securely on the wall in the kitchen - complete with meticulously-organized cabling. Troy's guidance gives us the ability to formulate clear solutions to some lighting and electrical challenges and we will be calling him back soon to put those solutions into place.
