Recent Review: Joe was called for an estimate (third provider contacted), after looking at the job I wanted he gave me suggestions that improved the finished product imensly and a price that was well below other estimates. The work was completed very professionally though with a lot of trouble with tree roots etc as my yard has many trees that were removed with no evidence remaining until the roots are hit by the ditch witch. All problems found with the remaining seven zones were repaired as they were found. I now have a well that provides more water faster that I ever had with water company lines and I only have to pay for the electricity. My irrigation system covers a newly cleared area and can be adjusted to allow me to clear even more area for the lawn. Pay back estimated at three years.
Recent Review: System contracted on 29 Jun with install on 5 Jul. Crew of 5 or 6 arrived on schedule at 08:00 in 3 trucks. Before starting, they prepped the house with carpet protectors. They also had to disconnect my attic stairs so that they could fit the new attic unit through the too small opening. Removal of old unit occurred without further problem. The full crew stayed until the old unit was removed and the new pieces were delivered to their installation location, then all but 3 departed. The 3 remaining crew worked until around 5 PM installing the new unit. Special kudos to them as the 5th was very hot and humid and the temperature in my attic was 127 degrees. The system works perfectly, is very quiet and handles the heat without strain. As it's a 2-stage unit, I'm anxious to see how it affects my Summer time electric bill. Upon completion, they cleaned up and explained the operation of the system. We finished by reviewing and completing the paperwork. I was particularly impressed that all of the paperwork was neatly filled out except for those portions requiring my direct input or signature. Everything was marked so that it was clear what needed to be done/signed/filled, they had the Carrier Cool-cash refund paperwork pre-filled, the Dominion Power rebate pre-filled, and the paperwork for me for tax time next year, making things simple for me. Overall, I'm very satisfied. Javier and the A/C Masters team did a great job. They were prompt, friendly, neat, attentive and their attention to detail was notable. I hate to have to spend that much money for something I already own, but they made it as painless as possible. I highly recommend A/C Masters.

Recent Review: The serviceman who came out was there to service our unit but found major problems. Our system was only 9 years old but it had never keep us cool on hot days since we bought house. The company that put it in originally never could fix the problem. Atlantic found the problem areas and guaranteed to fix the problem and followed up even a week after the job just to make sure everything was doing ok on a hot day. They did say it would probably take one day to do job but took them 1-1/2 days but they were working in attic on a hot day so it took them longer. They did call to say it would take longer because of the heat in attic and did send us a restaurant gift card to go out to dinner on them. We did get a yearly service agreement with them to keep it running properly. Overall, I dont like spending money but am ok with everything they did for us and everyone was very pleasant to deal with.
Recent Review: Joe Melick came out the same day I called to check out my leaking well pump. He returned, as planned, 2 days later with a repair kit for the pump. Turned out the pump was very corroded and required a significant amount of work to disassemble. Joe worked over 4 hours to rebuild the pump. Unfortunately, the shaft was too pitted to salvage. We agreed on a replacement pump and a cost estimate. Joe put in the new pump the following day and all is now well pardon the pun)... Joe refused to charge me for the 4 hours of labor he spent working the original pump repair. I insisted on paying for the kit - he at least let me do that... You simply do not find a more honest, dependable, friendly and knowledgeable professional than Joe Melick. Stop looking for anyone else and call Joe. In fact, please feel free to call me at home so I can tell you how good this guy really is. Ask for Joe Lyon at 412-2035.
I was experiencing slow toilet flushing and some noise in my laundry room (I recalled that the last time I had this issue was when the sewage dump died about 10 years ago.) I called Mr. McDonald to do the repair. He missed the first appointment due to another emergency, but when he arrived for the second appointment, he was very friendly and professional. After digging up the basin where the pump was located, he discovered the cause was a burnt wire located under the house. A new circuit was run by an electrician the next day and he installed the new pump. My toilet works fine now. I highly recommend him and will call if I have another plumbing problem!

AMark Carlson Well & Pump
Mark arrived with a helper to test run the original pump, test pump the well, and make repairs as needed. The test pumping revealed that the well was still serviceable. The legacy pump had seized and required replacement. Mark and his assistant installed a new 1/2 HP shallow well pump and accumulator, and demonstrated the proper operation and care of the pump including checking accumulator air pressure, priming procedures and end of season drain down. The pump supplied was robustly made and suitable for continuous service. All plumbing was neatly arranged allowing use of a compact cover to be purchased later. Mark recommended a supplier for covers.

"Not all heroes wear capes" The installer of our NEW Geothermal unit determined what the problem was, but then could not help us. (Even once C&G knew what they needed to do after the pumps would be replaced, they still abandoned us. ) Chris (I believe that was the name from C&G) called me back on the weekend and determined what was required, He then took the initiative to hunt down the needed replacements. When he learned they were no longer made, he then determined the options and handled everything, including finding a similarly responsive HVAC service (Ivan's Heating and Cooling) that would complete the hook up to the newly installed geothermal unit. After 5 days with no AC, he and another company fixed the problem the next morning. Outstanding service.

Called C & G on the recommendation of another service company. They came out the same day and saved us hundreds of dollars. The AC went out on Friday night (98 degree weekend), called a well known Geo-thermal company who charged us a $149.00 weekend call rate but wouldn't fix until the following week. They quoted us $895 for just the pump and claimed it would require 3-4 hours to install. So thankful they were not able to give us the appointment on Monday and called C & G instead. They were professional and very efficient. I could not be happier with their work and rates. Highly recommend.

AC died Friday evening - called Gildersleeve because we knew that it as most likely the pump and we had used them before. Called on Saturday am and knew we would have to pay the weekend rate (double the normal diagnostic fee $149), but it was 98 degrees out and we are a family of 4 and 2 dogs so we needed to get it done. They came out pretty quickly but the tech that came out was not happy about it...he obviously was on call and we were interrupting his weekend plans. He was even more unhappy when he saw where the pump was located and he would have to get dirty. We needed a new pump and he said the warehouse was closed but they would get to it first thing on Monday. He quoted us approx $850 for the pump and 3-4 hours of labor so an estimate of $1400-$1600. On Monday we received a call from the office to set up a time for the repair and the best they could do was possibly Tuesday or Friday. When I told her that the tech said we would be fixed on Monday she told me "you could of got it repaired on Saturday ". When I told her what the technician said about the warehouse she seemed surprised. Not sure if the tech was telling the truth about the warehouse being closed or he just not want to do the dirty job on Saturday. After making some phone calls to other well/pump companies we were able to get a very highly rated company to come out the same day and they charged us $700 INCLUDING labor. I guess I should thank Gildersleeve for being so unprofessional because it saved us a lot of money. Sent from my iPhone

The technician who came out was very professional and very helpful. He tested the injector pump and agreed with my assessment. He called the office and asked permission to go pick up a replacement pump and said it could be installed within the hour. The office would not let him perform the work, it necessitated another call. I waited until Monday of the following week for a return call for an appointment and a price for the pump. When I called no one was able to tell me anything about the pump or when they would be able to return to install a replacement. Later on Monday Karen called and told me a replacement pump would be over $600. I balked at the price, the entire set up for the Rid O Rust Treatment System was $590 two years ago, that included installation, tanks, chemicals and miscelleaneous parts as well as the injector pump. While speaking to Karen, I went to the Uni-dose website and the same pump was available retail to me for $181. She called me back the next day and gave me a price of $300 for the pump and $120 for labor. I told her I felt I was being taken advantage of since the technician had wanted to perform the work during his original call, that I had proactively sent the information and that she and I had discussed the price of the pump the day before. I am still without a working system and will now go to one of the Angie's List preferred technicians. So far using Angie's List has been very helpful. Why wasn't I smart enough to handle this problem the same way.

ASean Fixes Johns Plumbing
Notified Sean that I bought a ¾ HP unit and asked if he would install and check it out for me. Was here Midmorning of 28 May and installed pump and wired it for 120V operation. Lit the unit off and everything worked like a charm. I have used Sean for other jobs and his performance has always been outstanding. Will continue to use him as my plumber!

BClaflin Plumbing & Gas Piping
I called them Monday morning on a holiday (Veterans Day) and they came right out. Took them a while to find a replacement pump; they said the place they called sold the last pump between the time they called the supply store and when they got there. I would have thought that a company dealing with a regular customer would have given better service than that! So I was left wondering for several hours what was going on. A call from them would have been nice to explain the situation. But they returned in about 4 hr and replaced the pump and got it working the same day. Price was high but comparable to other plumbers, and the job was dirty.

Pump would not pump well water. Examined pump and suction inlet well piping for airtight integrity. Tightened union on suction side of pump and primed. System then worked as advertised. Adjusted pump shutoff switch setting to 30 seconds. Educated me on how the shallow water well system works and preventive maintenance. Fast service - finished job in less than 1 hour. Very courteous and knowledgable.
